Failed Shiny Attempts

Have you ever found a shiny Pokemon, but failed to capture it?

    Here are my failed attempts:

    - Hariyama in Sapphire - It used Whirlwind.
    - Numel in White 2 - I was in a wild double battle with Bianca and she knocked it out before I got to capture it.
    - Basculin in Y - It knocked itself out with Final Gambit.
    - Ivysaur in Y - It knocked itself out with Take Down after I used False Swipe.

More often than not it's because I accidently kill it or had encountered it randomly and didn't have enough balls on me. There was a time I was EV training and not paying a whole lot of attention and was running from any Pokemon that didn't yield the EV I was after. One was a shiny Skarmory. The first time I encountered a shiny I didn't even know what a shiny. Though my game was buggered.

First Shiny I ever saw was a Machoke on Pearl, I had no idea why it was green...I thought it might be a glitch in the game (which made me reluctant to catch it) so I fainted it and hoped I would get bonus exp. I found out about shinies a bit later and I still remember my moment of realisation :/

Thankfully no, I've only ever run into one shiny in the wild (a Wingull) and I managed to catch it. All my other shinies have been bred or traded for.

I have heard stories of folks who "run into" shinies while they're going through the Pokemon-catching tutorial, so there's nothing they can do about it. So I'm always a little anxious when that comes around. Haha

I don't think I've ever failed to catch a shiny. I've only ever run into three, and I've been successful in catching all of them. I traded one away to a friend who restarted his game a week later, and I was pretty disappointed he didn't trade me the pokemon back before doing so.

I encountered a shiny Skorupi in White. Unfortunately, it was a part of the game where I was paired up with another trainer, and it was a double battle, so I couldn't target the shiny. (I really wish the handheld games kept the Colosseum mechanic of allowing you to throw a Pokeball at either Pokemon in a double battle; of course I can target it!) The Pokemon I had out wasn't strong enough to KO my opponent's Musharna in one shot, and that Musharna went straight for the shiny...

I used to see those trainer segments as good opportunities to train weak Pokemon (as you automatically get healed after every battle), but now I rush through them and hope to minimize the number of encounters I face.

I'm pretty sure I knocked out a shiny Tauros in HeartGold because I wasn't paying attention and just kept tapping the touchscreen while grinding.

And a shiny Staravia used Whirlwind in a run of Platinum.

I have not failed any of my shinies so far. All my shiny mons have all been successfully captured basically as soon as I got them. I am always ready for a shiny. I almost did fail one at one point and it was my shiny Zorua now Zoroark because it had only one or two moves on it, one of them being Memento and in my experience of coming across Zoruas in OR/AS, they usually use them on their 2nd turn so I basically had just one or two shots at capturing it when I first saw it.

So far my only fail shiny catch was to make another shiny evolve

In Pokemon Y, in that icy cave (forgot the name) - wanted to make my male shiny Eevee evolve to a shiny Glaceon. As soon as I got to Icy Rock, I just fainted which ever Pokemon showed up first (didn't have any rare candies on me) - first Pokemon to show up was - a shiny Beartic. I didn't realized it was shiny until it made the fainting animation.

Ever since I haven't encountered any more shiny Beartics.
(I did get my shiny Glaceon)

If I remember right, I once did not manage to capture a shiny Geodude when I'd encountered it in one of my FireRed runs. At the time, I wasn't able to realize that it was shiny, which caused me to run away from this Pokémon.

In Pokemon Black 2, I found a Shiny Metang and tried to catch it. Most people are afraid of fainting their shiny. Well, this shiny swept my whole team. That is the only time I failed to catch a shiny in the main games. In Fan-Games, I have failed at catching shinies a lot, especially in Rejuvenation.

Shiny Cubone in Y.. I was running around grinding my water type and because it was green I noticed after the battle it was shiny and I said a few cuss words, but kept going.
