Favorite or Favourite?

Im British, so i use favourite. I dont understand why Americans take the u off ._.

I was taught British English since I was born although I'm neither American nor British. xD

As much as I love all my friends from over the pond, I'm an American so I spell it 'Favorite'.

...Sorry if you were hoping to convert me to the British ways. (Charming as they are, they are not who I am) ;)

I actually tend to use both 'favorite' and 'favourite.' Canadians are for the most part taught to spell things the British way, but with such a large American influence, both ways are widely accepted. It has gotten to the point that sometimes I'm not really sure how I am supposed to spell certain things. (one thing that I can never make my mind up on is the -ise or -ize endings)

I spell it as favourite. Also, I think a lot of Aussie and British kids might've been confused (assuming they're around this age) when they were playing the game boy "color", and used pkmn "centers". In year 7, I remember arguing with the teacher that it was spelt "center" because it was that way in my game. D: That was when I learnt the differences between America and Australia.

Also, Kenji says "Auztralians" to annoy me/others. And, having to type "Womanizer" instead of "Womaniser" sucks. Though then again, it isn't a real word, so it doesn't really matter.

And. The U looks pretty. :3

I actually switch depending on the person. :b For example, on the forums, I tend to say 'favorite' as the majority of people are Americans. However, when I'm talking to a British person, or any other person who uses British English, I'll say 'favourite'.

Though, I go to a British school so off the internet I always spell it as 'favourite'.

English comes from England, so the English spellings always take precedence.

1,000x this.
I also love it when people tell me I'm spelling words incorrectly because they think the American way is the correct way. Actually, I don't love it, it annoys me.

I spell it favorite, but I like to spell colour like that. Though my computer says it's wrong, and my teacher's says it's wrong.

Being a Brit, it's the U's for me. It annoys me when people here spell the American way. It's like, "You're not American! Spell it right!" I then proceed screaming at them.

I have nothing against Americans. Just their spelling. ¬.¬

i spell it as "favourite". i also spell words such as "colour" or anything that can be spelled with either just 'o' or 'ou' with an 'ou'. when words like that are spelled without the 'u' in there, it just looks odd to me. :\

i'm american, so i spell favorite and color and what not. that extra "u" is too much effort.

i say favourite,
because we brits are badmans who abuse the language like that whilst simultaneously drinking cups of tea ;D

Being Canadian, I generally use the British spelling of words, but not always. I'm pretty sure Canadian English is a weird mix of both the British and American spellings. I include the 'u' in words like colour and honour, but I never remember whether to use an 's' or 'z' in words like organization. I also usually spell words like centre with the 're' which is proper in Canada, although I like the 'er' better.

Finally, check and cheque are two different words for me.
