Favorite Pokémon Tournament 2016: Dark (Sept. 20-27)

Welcome to the fourth annual Favorite Pokémon Tournament, hosted here in Pokémon General! The goal of the Favorite Pokémon Tournament (or FPT), is to determine the most popular Pokémon of the users here at the PokéCommunity. This will be a 10-week set of polls culminating in mid-November, where we'll pit almost all the Pokémon from different types of past and present generations against each other to determine a winner. After we know the results of each type, we'll add all of those Pokémon to a final poll, where the winner(s) will be crowned champion, and will go down into the record books as PokéCommunity's favorite Pokémon of 2016!

If you are new to the Favorite Pokémon Tournament, or would just like a refresher on the rules/process of the event, please take a look at the FAQ posted below:​

Spoiler:

• Every week, two new polls will be stickied at the top of Pokémon General. Each thread will include a different elemental type, and the list of Pokémon to vote from.
• You aren't required to pick just one Pokémon- you can vote for as many as you like to ensure your favorites get through. The Pokémon with the most votes at the end of the week will face off against the other winning Pokémon in a final poll to crown the champion!
• In order to preserve space, we've grouped all of the applicable evolutions in a Pokémon family together. Some Pokémon (ex.: the Nidoran families) may be exempt from this rule.
• Only the original versions of Pokémon are included in these polls. If you are a fan of a Mega Evolution or regional form of a certain family, please vote for the originals instead.
• In the event of a tie at the end of the week, all Pokémon tied for first place will advance to the finale.
  
• Furthermore, members who vote and post for a majority of weeks during the tournament will receive an emblem depicting the winning Pokémon!
• If there are any questions that you need answered, feel free to leave a comment in this thread or send a VM to Brendino to get it sorted out.
  

NOTE: Because of the limited number of poll spaces, not all eligible Pokémon have been included. If you want to vote for an unlisted Dark-type, check the "Other Pokémon" option represented by a (?), and leave a post with your vote.

[Mister Coffee]

My absolute number one favorite Dark pokemon is definitely Umbreon. The bulkiest wall dark pokemon. It plays well, it looks cool, has a great move pool, and is really hard to KO. I also have a lot of great memories from playing with it back in G/S/C. Everytime I use an Umbreon, it's reliable to the max and I always feel safe with it on the battlefield, it often gives me breathing room to think about my next move and it's great for KO'ing pokemon that are normally troublesome to my team.

Honorable mentions that I voted for:

Tyranitar: I have great memories of building a Dragon Dance and Outrage Tyranitar back in HG/SS, had some fun times with that guy for a while.

Sableye and Spiritomb: I grouped these two for the same reason, they're both very reliable wall pokemon with a great type combination.

Scrafty: Moxie Scrafty with Drain Punch and Dragon Dance is an incredible wall pokemon that builds itself into a high powered tank, it's pretty impressive to play with.

Zoroark: Zoroark is what I enjoy calling the "Bluffing Pokemon", Illusion is by far one of my favorite meta trick abilities, it's so easy to sneak a KO in with Zoroark because of its ability.

Umbreon - It's as cute as bulky.

Absol - It had epic role in the first PMD games and has beautiful mega evolution

Zoroark - It was cool in the movie and has a funny ability.

I love the Dark-type so choosing was tough, but I voted for Umbreon, Murkrow, Sneasel, Houndour, Krookodile and Malamar (and their evolutionary lines). Sneasel and Weavile are probably my favourites - Weavile was my instant favourite from Gen IV and I've always loved Sneasel's design and character. Houndoom as well is one of my favourite Pokémon for its design and strength - it was one of my powerhouses in Gen IV. The rest I like because they have badass or really cool designs or are good in battle (or both).

I won't go into too much detail about my choices but apart from Houndour, the rest of these Pokemon have been my absolute favourites for sometime and thus they get my vote xD

Dark type isn't my favorite type but there are a couple gems for me: Mightyena and Umbreon. Mightyena has been a favorite of mine in the Dark type section since it came out in Gen 3. Umbreon is a more recent favorite of mine as I have started using it more competitively. The bulk is real! xD

I love dark types! Definitely my favorite overall typing. Of course I only have a single favorite line and that is the Murkrow/Honchkrow line. I like the vibe they give off, and given how rare they are it's always exciting to encounter in-game.

Went for three families - Murkrow, Houndour and Sneasel! They all start off as very cute little guys and evolve into some very quirky and cool Pokémon, and also all have really interesting typings.

Voted for Scrafty and Hydreigon.
The former is my all time favourite Pokémon and the latter is a Pokémon that actually convinced on buying the Gen 5 games. Hydreigon's design and concept are both amazing and it's amazing to use in battles.

I actually like a lot of Dark-types.

Took a while to vote on this one but I'll now tell what I voted.

Umbreon and Murkrow line were the first ones I voted, since I do love Eeveelutions and badass Mafia-stereotype birds. I did also vote for every 5th Gen option (yet weirdly my vote for Scraggy's line didn't get registered) and all the 6th Gen ones except Yveltal, because I don't know why.

I voted for Houndoom!

Houndoom meant a lot to me when I was a child. I've always had a soft spot for dogs so when I saw Houndour in Pokemon Platinum, I knew I wanted it to be my strongest Pokemon. I was so proud of my Houndoom! I remember Houndoom being my first MVP in any Pokemon game, solely because I dedicated a lot of time to training it. Until the EXP share was changed, it remained my highest level Pokemon in any game. It was a Level 88 Houndoom which I remember always trying to talk about to my friends about how cool it was. Whilst I do regret calling it "Dark Queen" when I was 8, I guess that's what it meant to me when I was a kid! It was the royalty of my team.

OBOY, my favourite type.

I voted for Umbreon, Murkrow, Sneasel, Houndoom, and Tyranitar, with Umbreon being my absolute favourite. I've loved Dark-types for a long time, and I was also super hyped when I found that Eevee would have more evolutions. Umbreon's design, as well as its potential was enough to sell me on it, for sure.
