A lot of great trailers have dropped for upcoming games over the years. We have trailers that are aimed at comedy, trailers meant to be of a thriller genre, very sad trailers, and everything in between and beyond.

What are some of your favorite game trailers? Why are they your favorites??

    ------------------------

I have a couple to pick for my favorites.

The trailers for Battlefield Bad Company were just fantastic parodies of other game's trailers. I guess this would be my top "comedy" pick

Next I cannot go without giving a shout out to the Halo 3 era live action trailers. Specifically I'll pick Halo: Landfall as well as We Are ODST, as they both share the same very gritty groundwork for a game that is anything but.

And I can't go without giving a spot to Dead Islands original trailer, that misled so many into thinking the theme of the game would be something it wasnt.

Can't go wrong with that Dead Island trailer. I remember when that first dropped and the gut reaction a lot of people had to the trailer. Too bad the game couldn't match the hype of the trailer (although I really dug the game; had it's flaws but was still fun.)

Dark Souls 3 trailer is one of my all-time favorite trailers. When you think of the Dark Souls series, the words that comes to mind are "hopelessness," "desperate," "defeating"....I think the song choice of Hozier's "In The Woods Somewhere" combined with the Dark Souls gameplay really captures those feelings. Take a look at the trailer and see for yourself:

I used to love this trailer and it got me so hyped for one of my favourite games ever.

I'm kind of weird but I've never really been a trailers kind of person - I generally prefer reading about games more, or watching gameplay videos instead and I only ever watch trailers if there is very little/no additional information about the game available at the time.

That said, I definitely remember the Dead Island trailer too, one of the more compelling ones I've seen. The only relatively recent trailers I can recall seeing and liking are the Final Fantasy VII Remake and The Last of Us II ones, mostly because I'm already so hyped for these and there's so little information about them so far.

Thinking of trailers back in the day, this very trailer is still one of my favorites mainly for how it made me buy the game upon its release,

Killzone 2's 2005 Trailer. I remember watching this trailer made me get Killzone 2 for our PS3 as one of the first things I needed in my life. The graphics for its time were so amazing and the best part was that we didn't know if those were in-engine cutscenes or prerendered.

Thinking of that, I'm happy to have bought Killzone 2, and years later from now, I got the Killzone Collection just to complete my love of the PS3

As a fan of Portal, when I first saw the Portal 2 trailer, I lost my sh*t. I still get goosebumps when I watch it. Because who doesn'T rewatch their favorite trailers all the time and download the soundtrack to listen while driving... anyone?

As a person who has never played The Last of Us, even I got chills watching that trailer for the sequel to the The Last of Us. Ellie completely pissed off definitely sends a strong message that she's all grown up and is holding some kind of grudge for something. That game better do well for launch - I don't see why it won't tbh - cause I want to see this series continue to be successful.

Why haven't you played it?! I hope the trailer is compelling enough to get you into it this time. ;D I'm confident it will do well too, so so excited to see these two back. <3 I heard at one point they wanted to make new characters instead.

I'm an Xbox gamer unfortunately ):

Titanfall 2 trailer is pretty impressive, just a shame it gets overshadowed by the likes of Call of Duty and other games.

To me, I don't think any trailer beats this in terms of just pure hype. Battlefield 1 had to be the most hype-filled game of this decade thus far...though, I'm probably a poor judge.

I was hoping for Vietnam or even more so a WWII game so it was a bit* of a disappointment to me sadly. I still say it's a terrible WWI game but a decent BF game (No where near as good as BC2 of course) But it did hype up a LOT of people for BF, not to mention it buried CoD under meters of blood and mud and discarded artillery shells! Not that that's a hard task

While I haven't invested myself into that many video game franchises, I'm completely IN LOVE with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's trailer! The music is so amazingly climatic, and the entire trailer keeps me on the edge of my seat. *w* I have never been this excited for a video game since 2011, and this trailer is one of the main reasons for that! :D

Ah yes, the RIP CoD meme...got to say, that was an actual meme that gave me a good giggle for a long while, though most of what I saw about Battlefield 1 was actually how inaccurate it was when compared to the actual war. Made me sad; though I doubt a fast paced, open game full of bolt-actions wouldn't keep the interest of a regular FPS player for long, so I welcome the automatic weapons.
