Favourite genre of music?

    What's yours? I didn't include a poll because I knew I would leave one out or someone would come up with one I'd never heard of.

    As for me, I'm more into artists/songs themselves than the actual genre, i.e I wouldn't normally listen to R&B because I don't like most of it, yet I happen to love Rihanna and Ne-Yo. If I had to choose a favourite genre, it would come down to Acoustic, Indie, and Alternative.

    Same as you Necromany, I like a bit of every genre but I think the genre that I like the most artists from is electronic and 2nd place alternative rock such as U2.
     
    1. Metal with violins (rare enough not to have a genre, apparently)
    2. Industrial metal
    3. Folk/Pagan/Viking metal
    4. Symphonic/Gothic metal
    5. Hard punk rock
    6. Hard rock
    7. Orchestral
    8. Traditional/medieval music (Middle East; Western Europe; East Asia)
    9. Piano
    10. Bhangra
    As you can see I like a lot of weird things. The list is ordered so yes the one without a genre is my favourite... I always seem to like whatever's least popular.
     
    Metal and 90's rap.

    I do like some stuff from everything except country. Please, no country.

    I know a few with violins, but as you said, it is rare to find such thing.

    Here's my list...

    • Metal (all types)
    • Hard Rock
    • Blues (lol, pretty surprising for someone like me:D)
    • Alternative

    I haven't got a huge list but still.

    Metal, Metalcore, Power Metal, Alt. Metal, Hard Rock, Alt Rock, Classic Rock...They are all for the win ^_^

    Actually it's the smarter choice not to with something so vague as this.
    As you can see in your own post, there are a lot of divisions of rock and metal, and of course there are more. There are as many in all other genres so it really gets hard to even start on a slightly accurate poll.

    Goodness....just an idea. =X

    And while encompassing the more general genres such as "Metal" "Country" and "Rap"...people could specify their more specific interests when they post. I just like to see what kind of stuff people listen to, and it's a lot easier with a poll.

    But whatevski...This is still perfectly fine ^_^

    well i listen to every genre of music but i listen more to hip hop i have really gotten in to Hiphop/rock like gym class heroes
     
    French Electro such as Daft Punk,David Guetta<Benni Benassi,Joachim Gerraud is teh best songs i've heard in my entire life
     
    Rock is the greatest genre, in my opinion.
    Metal is good too.
    There is very few good country, and thats if you consider Skynyrd a country band
     
    jazz.
    It's so calming and happy.
    So is light rock.
     
    There are way too many subgenres to every genre so I'll be broad but knowing that I love all music will help a lot.

    Honestly though, if I actually looked through my collection I would probably find all if not most genres in there and I only have it in my collection if I like them, or as long as it's not terrible because there is terrible music in all genres. Listing all of those would obviously take too long so I'll just leave it at those three up there. Here are ten examples of the artists I listen to which will be the first to pop in my head, if they're the first to pop in my head surely there must be a reason why.

    Led Zeppelin
    Megadeth
    Metallica
    Black Sabbath
    The Eagles
    Guns N Roses
    Pantera
    Iron Maiden
    Nirvana
    Pink Floyd

    As you can see all are rock bands and most would be considered a type of metal. Although I seriously thought of over like 50 artists/bands after those ten, some of which I like better, oh well.
     
    My favorite genres are mainly Pop,R&B,some Rock,and Rap,I don't know why but I enjoy it haa.
