    Which Pokémon game has your favourite Regional Dex?

    I've always been a fan of Platinum's Regional Dex. It has a lot of my favourite Pokémon and fixes some of the big issues with Diamond and Pearl's Regional Dex, namely the lack of Fire and Ice types available in the main game. Hopefully the Pokémon in Platinum's Regional Dex will be included in BDSP's Regional Dex.
     
    My favorite is the Black 2 and White 2 Pokedex. Has a lot of very cool and powerful Pokemon and a lot of them are available very early on. It adds the old Pokemon for those people that didn't like the Black and White Pokedex having only new Pokemon and the mix of old and new Pokemon is almost perfect in these games. I really enjoy the B2W2 Pokedex and I feel like it adds a lot of replay value to these games since there is so many good and fun options when making your teams for the replays.
     
    I want to like Gen 2's dex for basically just expanding upon Kanto in a good way, but they didn't even have a bunch of them available in Johto or give them to gym leaders or anything. I think I'll have to go with USUM's dex though!
     
    off the top of my head, XY's regional dex. it's one of the best features about that game, and the sheer variety of pokemon that you can get just before the 2nd gym is insane to me. you could literally have a full team before the 2nd gym - and i think that plays to the strength of the game and the new exp share. it's easier to raise full teams or even have multiple teams or try out new party members without having to take too much time out to grind and catch them up to the rest of the team. i'm absolutely positive that the large regional dex and new exp share are connected for reasons i just mentioned, and imo, it works. recently replayed y and i ended up using a completely different team than i planned bc i kept running into pokemon i really wanted to use. and now that i think about it, i had a full team before the 2nd gym aha.

    other contenders are BW2, USUM, and SWSH. honestly, the more we get into the series and the more pokemon there are, the more variety there is for each region, so i think it makes sense that i consider gen 5 and onward to have the best regional dexes.
     
    Seconding XY, it was one of the few games where I just straight up felt overwhelmed with options.

    The fact that Platinum just stacks the end of its regional dex with all the new evolutions is both really funny to me, and makes it stand out. It makes it feel like these Pokemon at the end of the dex are these powerful new evolutions that will be your partners through the late-game. There's also the fact that DPPt were the only games to reward you for completing your regional dex (or even recognizing the regional dex ever existed) and it makes "the regional dex hunt" a fun first step of the post-game in Sinnoh.
