Feedback, Questions, and Suggestions Thread

Hnnn? They would be just a popular down below then they would be up above. Just because they aren't stickied, they aren't completely protected. If comes a time when they actually die, they'll be taken down. Still, it sounds too much work. That, and people would complain why it is that thread, and not another thread that is stickied for however long, and this place would probably be filled with suggestions as to what should be stickied next.

I remember having this same discussion when I stickied TCTI XD

Time is truly circular, I see.

Exactly. Would it be possible to drop TCTI and perhaps rotate other popular threads in it's place? Give each thread a week/month on sticky, unstick it, stick another popular and active thread for a while. Simple, clean and fair. Counting threads would be able to fall out naturally and new ones could be allowed to flourish...making the 3 counting thread rule a bit more fair. :>

Fixed. /because TCTI's been around longer than DLTMSA, and even if it were unstickied it'd still be more active than DLTMSA or WOFZ

Aside from that, still vouching for WOFZ to be stickied. It's been around for over a year like the rest of the chat threads, the Nightclub excluded. Also, it's a bit of a sanctuary for newer members. In my eyes, TCTI is more for those who have been around longer, and even I am intimidated by some of the members here, which results in me not wanting to post there. I'm fairly sure that is the case for others. DLTMSA is great for newer members, but WOFZ lets said newer members have a chance to become the ones to reset the count rather than wait around for a staff member to do it. The Nightclub is also great for newer members, but it is not a counting thread, and people (myself included) have a tendency to go off-topic (though this is improving). A lot of the regulars there also seem to be good friends with one another whereas the regulars in DLTMSA and WOFZ (it also seems like the TCTI regulars are all good friends, but hey, could be wrong on this) are not necessarily best buds with everyone else who posts in their respective threads.

Finally, regarding the "four stickies is enough" thing, two suggestions:

A. Like in PT, make a single announcement about the updated rules and of this thread, unsticky this thread, and link to it via the announcement. However, I suppose members probably wouldn't check announcements as often, which is where suggestion B comes in.

B. Combine both the rules and this thread. I've seen threads with some replies get completely moved to one thread, although I don't know the full gist of how it works. But this way, you'll have one less sticky to contend with, since four apparently seems like too many (I'd put the limit at five since a lot of people use the default option for "number of posts per page", but it's your call).

People would probably be confused as to why this place is with the games, and wonder why it's not stickied if it's the suggestions thread.

I'm not too sure about putting the rules and this thread together. I someone suggest already, but I think it would clutter the area where it should be rules, and people may or may not start getting confused. It's easier to have the most important thing in forums have it's own thread.

Only thing I can think of right now is to keep DLTMSA and TCTI, and then have our third stickied thread be rotating. There will be times when we will have five stickies regardless (despite me wanting to restick 'What are you listening to'). It would be every month, unless it's a Prettiest Profile Contest month. Then instead of a game, it'll be that.

I second Don's idea. /partially because mine have been rejected

And just to make sure, this thread is not an exception to the revival rule, correct?

Ah, and one more thing on getting WOFZ stickied: We have WOFG in PT stickied, so why not have WOFZ stickied? It's kind of unfair if the child is stickied while the parent isn't. I know there aren't many PT threads that CAN be stickied, but I'm just saying...

Elaborating on the thread index idea, I think the stickies should be as such:

Rules
Suggestions
Thread Index
Spotlighted Game Sticky Thread A (one-month duration or for the PPC if you do not wish to have five stickies in months where the PPC occurs)
-optional- Sticky Thread B (for the PPC or for a second spotlighted sticky thread also of one month duration)

This appeals to those who are complaining about two of the four most active threads in OT currently having sticky status, while two that are arguably more active (but not quite there) are not stickied.

My suggested conditions for being eligible to be a spotlighted thread:

  • 250 posts in the month since the last sticky change (feel free to change the amount of posts, I just put out an arbitrary number that seemed inclusive while also limiting the eligibility to less than 10 threads).
  • Must not have been a sticky thread in the last 6 months (could be changed to 3 if there is more than one spot for spotlighted threads in the stickies).
  • Must be the most active in the last month of the threads that meet the above criteria.
  • Must not go a week without posts while it is a sticky.

Just tossing out some ideas.

I like rules like Donny there is outlining. That actually sounds fair. Especially since the rules there are crafted so that no single thread can monopolize sticky status, and it takes into respect the concern the mods have about 'Sticky hell'.

Personally I'd say 7 stickies should be the theoretical maximum for a 30 threads per page display, 5 is fine as well...but 7 is the best if you really need to put other threads out there, like short term announcements or come and go threads like the PPC. :<

I like the outline myself. This will mean that both TCTI and DLTMSA will be unstickied though, so I'll have to speak to Netto and see what he thinks of the idea himself. Since DLTMSA is younger, if we have to take at least one of them down, it will probably be that one. TCTI, on the other hand, is on it's seventh run, still strong, and seems to get the most cumulative posts.

1. Rules
2. Suggestions
3. Index
4. 'Game of the Month' or something along the lines (this will be replaced with the PPC every now and then, since it's the only competition thing we have here in OT, and thus should be stickied when it comes time to have it hosted.)
5 (depends on Netto's opinion, so this may or may not happen). TCTI,

You're contradicting yourself, Tara. After all, doesn't it make more sense for the YOUNGER thread to be stickied while the OLDER one gets unstickied? And you further contradict yourself by saying TCTI is "still strong, and seems to get the most cumulative posts", which would mean even if unstickied, it would probably still be this way. If DLTMSA got unstickied, then it would probably lose activity just like WOFZ has.

And while supporting Don's idea, there is one downside: Some people might keep getting confused if threads keep getting stickied and unstickied. If something's stickied for a long enough time and then gets unstickied, people will have to get used to it being unstickied.

You also still haven't answered my earlier question about this thread not being an exception from the revival thread rule.

Thus why it will probably be called 'Game of the month' or something along the lines. So people know that's why it's stickied. There won't be any emblem or anything though, since some of the games' creators have left, and some of them are 'new versions'.

Ask Netto. He's the one who got the idea of this thread.

.. I'm just going to leave the rest of the matter of the threads to Netto. Because this is turning to be a bit of a matter of opinion. Personally, I think it makes more sense for the older one to be stickied, because it has established itself for much longer. Much longer.

But if the older one is more established, then that's the perfect time to give a newer one a chance to become established. It's kind of like a certain aspect of life: If you have, say, a man running a company, there'll come a time where he'll need to pass it on to his son or daughter. Here, TCTI is the man, and DLTMSA is the child.

Honestly, though, I'm actually on the verge of saying that I'd just rather have everything still be the same. Even though I supported WOFZ's getting stickied, if there's this much controversy and whatnot, I'm pretty much at the "I don't give a damn if it gets stickied or not anymore" state.

I'm fine with keeping everything the way it is, and adding an index. This means no rotating threads, and... that would be easier on me and Netto. Though it would be six stickies during PPC, but... I can deal with that. PPC is important and brings people who usually don't pop into OT.

Just saying that I agree with this XD Much less confusing IMO.

I'm going with the Index idea. To be frank this suggestions thread I hoped was going to give ideas make our jobs a bit easier? xP

Anyways, maintain things as they are I guess...and Sticky WOFZ just to remind people that these are the Counting threads here. 3 is more than enough IMO (Although I admit, each has a diff "personality" so to speak)

No. We don't need to sticky WOFZ. It is not fair to sticky all the counting threads and none of the other type of games within OC.

I actually wouldn't mind if that's what the moderators decided to do. It'd certainly be fair. really the only thread that needs to be a sticky one besides the rules/feedback is the PPC thread.

I say just keep EVERYTHING THE SAME FREAKING WAY IT WAS AND IT'LL ALL BE GOOD. THAT WAY, THERE WILL BE NO MORE ARGUING AND IDIOTS WON'T HAVE TO KEEP CONTRADICTING THEMSELVES.

How about that?

/just can't take it anymore; people are so childish >_>
