ngl i laugh everytime I hear someone talk about having to parallel park for their test because I didn't have to.
so lucky.... it was particularly odd because I so rarely mess it up but then here I am doing it the only time that actually mattered messing it up thrice. oh well, it all worked out in the end.

Parallel parking is so hard for me :( Congrats on passing though! Getting your license makes you feel so free 8)

briefly going to interrupt this conversation to mention I passed my driving license test today after fucking up my parallel park three times. this is an act of god
they make you parallel in your test? that's fucked up

I'll be taking my driving test after my birthday.

I really don't care that much. :P

they make you parallel in your test? that's fucked up

on my test they made me do that as the absolute very first thing.

if you hit a cone, you're done. you can't take the test or redo or anything.

needless to say i failed my first test.

I wish they had tested me for parallel parking on my driving test. But I guess since I was in an area where it wasn't a necessity at all, my driving test was pretty much....drive this way, turn here, turn here, turn here, okay you're done you passed hooray here's your license.

Of course now I live in an area where parallel parking is definitely a thing, so far I've skirted around it by walking everywhere I need to go and not using the car at all (and thus not having to be the one parking) but. :X Yeah. Eek.

Parallel parking...luckily if you hit the curb you get another chance, so I was able to do it on my second try :P

For me the parallel parking was tough but the 3 point turn was the hardest part of the test :(

I managed to pass my driving test on my second try like 6 years ago but I have never had to use a car for transportation anywhere I've lived so chances are I'd need to retake some clases if I'm to start driving for real some day XD;

Wait so, how would you normally get to work or any other places you wanted to go? o.o; And why was a car unnecessary?

In Madrid: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madrid_Metro
In Buenos Aires: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buenos_Aires_Underground plus the Bus Line 2, which ran right between my house door and my office.

I also have an Oyster card for every time I visit London. Essentially, public transport takes me wherever I need to go and it's a hundred times cheaper than mantaining a car plus gas and taxes.

The only times I've ever been on public transportation is the Metro in Virginia, and when I was working at the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium one year, we took a bus from the parking garage to the stadium. That's about it.

I prefer paying the money to have my own car anyway -w- Much more reliable, as proven in flight's post above.

We really don't have any public transpiration where I live.

There's no metro here, but I used it once or twice when I used to live in America. Plus i live next to my school so I would never use it xD

I keep thinking I should figure out where the buses here run, and then maybe use them sometime.

I have no idea how late or early they run though, I just know I see them all the time on the main street.

Yeah, all we have here are busses :(
And they're always late.

Or so says my coworker who rides the bus to work and is always late.
That seems like such a convenient excuse. :P

Although if it's true, I can see where it would be a definite annoyance.

Taxi fares here are awfull as well...

The thing here is, buses here are at time some days, and another days they pass earlier (10 minutes or less, most of the time) and you need to wait for another one.

When I was in Buenos Aires, I had to use taxis for everything work-related, moving around the city is hell otherwise. I was lucky to have both direct bus and tube lines between my house and my office.

And, to be honest, taxi fares tend to be ridiculous compared to the local income wherever you go u_u
