hello i am going to start exercising and like properly eating healthy this week hold me accountable

my diet is basically unprocessed foods only and my exercise is... going to get better eventually but for now is like at least 15 minutes of continuous anything a day because who has time for anything else tbh

if you wanna also be held accountable i will help you if you want i just know it helps me to tell people and get a push once in a while

I've been meaning to get back into the gym but uuuuuugh I could really use some motivation right now. I'm eating okay (woo organic foods) but it's not enough. In a year I lost ~20 pounds.

The weight loss challenge program I'm a part of ends this week.

I could use someone to pester me to weigh myself every Wednesday night. I've dropped roughly 20 pounds over the past 2 months because of this challenge.
    IIIIIT'S WEDNESDAY

How did you go about losing weight for the challenge? Diet, exercise, combo? What sort?

tbh going to the gym intimidates me and i feel like it's a really big deal or step or smthn. maybe you could just incorporate some cardio into your day? like i jog the half-mile to the bus stop. it's not much but every little thing helps

im eating like shit tho right now and just making generally bad choices this week ~_~ what is wrong with me

My advice is do it with a friend; go to the gym together, motivate and encourage each other when one's falling apart.

I started from jogging and hiking near my apartment (yeah I live somewhere near the mountains, but it's convenient up here haha). I started from 30 mins > 1 hrs > 3 hrs nowadays.

Fat dissolves after 1.5 hours of workout, according to a friend. He also told me that we absorb nutrition better during after 3 hours of workout/sports, so careful on what you eat -- it can go worse or better (for your progress) depending on the food you consume during those golden 3 hours. (:

I did my final weigh in for the program. I think that's up 0.2 pounds from last week (ate a lot of calories in general), but down 20.8 pounds over the 2 month period overall. Went from 286 pounds even to 265.2 pounds. My end of year target is 220. Just 40 pounds to go over 8 months.

And I lost it largely by realizing I was eating too much and it was all garbage I shouldn't be eating. I cut down the number of times a day I'd eat, I cut down how much I was eating when I ate, and I shifted my work lunches and my quick dinners over to Lean Cuisine frozen meals (not organic, but the things have around 300 calories per serving, which is usually one box). I also stopped drinking sugary drinks and started drinking bottled water or water from the tap in its place, and I reduced how much milk I drank in a week by nearly half. If I had a high calorie snack of something, I'd treat that as a meal based on calorie content (anything over 300 calories is what I treated as meal-tier snacks). If I had a high calorie meal, I'd skip a meal later in the day. I'd ignore my hunger pangs for at least an hour or two before eating (think of that as time your body is pulling the fat already in your body for its energy instead of using the calories you intake).

I did attempt some exercise until I killed my back because I wasn't stretching properly before walking 8000 steps a day. I'm going to try again after I drop another 10 pounds. I've since cut my step target down to 3000 for the interim, since that's something I can manage pretty easily even with limited time available.

TL;DR: Cut out junk and reduce how much I ate and start calorie watching to hell is what I did.

Actually it's really encouraging that you've done so well by cutting down like that. I'd been trying to be keto/LCHF but that just isnt working for me anymore. :/ So I'm gonna try just straight up cutting back and do more actual exercise (since it's finally nice out).

I also am in competition to drop 20lbs by May 1st and really gotta get going on that -_- Weighed in today at 226 which is abput the same as I was last week. But yesterday I walked a mile in the morning and two in the evening! many exercise yay!

Good on you. It's crazy how much just walking helps. Until I got my office sit-down job I would do a lot more walking and in the last few years I've added something like 40-50 lbs and I don't have nearly the energy I used to.
The only real reason I walk is because I have to use public transit so i just take the opportunity to take a little more time and walk further than I need to? Oooor I miss the bus and have nothing better to do so I walk while waiting lmao.

The other thing a lot of people have had success with in my family is just cutting out one specific thing- chips, sugary drinks, beer, etc. Gives them one thing to focus on and helps a lot I guess?

Oh yay, public transit. ._. But at least you get some walking built into your day? I mean, you don't have to have the extra motivation to do it if you're not feeling like it.

I've recently tried to start doing better. For a while there I completely cut out wheat and sugar. I've slowly integrated it back, but I felt a lot better when I didn't eat it at all, so I probably need to cut it back out, but I would eat chocolate for every meal if I could so it's just so dang hard.

I started doing some jogging, exercise classes and weekend hiking and that, combined with tweaking my exercises, I've dropped around 30 pounds. I'd like to lose another 40 or so at least.

Next week registration opens for the Disney World Wine & Dine Half Marathon which is in November, and it's way expensive, so it'll be motivation (hey, don't waste that $200, get off yo butt and run).

I've been kind of in a rut though lately. I got sick two weeks ago (flu thing) and need to get back into the swing of it. I've eaten like crap the past 3 days or so and definitely feel it.

Anyone here use a Fitbit to track their steps?

    WEDNESDAY

@Esper: Yeah, there is that. Gets me at least a mile every day which is not anything to sneeze at really. I just need far more cardio far more often. :/

@Jessie: ugh I've been sick on and off for a few months because. I work in daycare and everything is ew. I really just need to develop better routines and not be lazy but it's so hard after working long days. :(
So did cutting out sugars and wheat reduce cravings for you? It did for me when I was doing true keto diet but they come back super quickly. :(

also I'm 226 this week. Still. :/ I don't get it I'm eating so healthy why is nothing changing

Yea, for me, the first day or two of cutting it out was really hard. But when I stuck to it I didn't really have cravings, but as soon as I cheated they all came back! UGH.

It's frustrating when you're working hard and still don't see changes on the scale, but I guess it's good to remember that when we're eating healthy we're also doing good for our bodies: fighting potential diseases, providing better nutrients, helping it heal itself.

Yeah, I have one. I have it set for the default: 10,000 steps. If I just go about my normal day without trying I usually get 2,000-4,000 steps which isn't terrible, but it's just intermittent walking. I've got to put aside a good 30-60 minutes if I want to reach 10,000. Which is annoying, because a friend of mine doesn't do anything special and easily gets past 10,000 most days just from going to work, and they have a desk job. :<

265.8. Diet lapse week due to being hyper-busy and also being presented with a lot of free food that makes my budget work. This week should be better overall and be a downward trending week since I was still only up 0.6 lbs.

If anyone wants to be friends on Fitbit and do step challenges or set up some kind of eating/wellness/fitness challenge to hold each other accountable (either through a thread or PM) I'd be down for that!

I don't know how accurate iPhone step counter is and I don't have it on me all the time but my daily average is around 5k steps~ Also I walked four miles on friday and another four on saturday! My goal this week is to concentrate on having veggies be like 75% of my food intake.

(also weighed in @ 224 exactly on fri and sat haha)
