Forum Elitism

Not every mod can be popular, and it can be evidenced by the VM wall. Also, there are a fair share I rarely even interact with since I'm not active in their respective areas.
Are you saying one's amount of VMs is proportional to one's popularity

I like to consider myself the local glass of orange juice that lives in Video Games and Challenges.

Seniority = diddly squat here. I've been here for almost 6 years, and I have almost 10,000 posts. That doesn't really mean anything special here besides the fact that you've just been here a hella long time. Here, it seems that being involved means that you talk with and hit it off with the right people, make the right connections, and get to be in the know. It literally works like this: You get stuff if you know the right people. It's even happened to me in the past (See: The story behind how I got my Platinum-tier supportership). I really hate to be so blunt about it, but this is how I see it. I'd go further than this, but I feel that if I continue on with my train of thought, I might turn a few heads the wrong way and get some false impressions upon myself. I do know a few people here, including some staff, but stuff's happened and we haven't been able to talk as much (Harry, I really need to get your Skype, as you never appear online to me!!!).

This is pretty much the case always. Seniority makes little difference; I've been here ten long years and I've long been relegated to the "Outer Circles" of the realm of popular people. Yes; I'm relevant and somewhat well enough known; but i've had to paw and claw and make my voice heard to get there. I've made contact with a lot of people but I can't really say exactly what impressions I've left; few people ever really tell me much about that. I can only hope they are at least neutral or somewhat positive. Yes; I do style myself as somewhat of a community historian. That's not ironic; I really do enjoy hearing and collecting the stories of PC to share with all to promote inclusiveness of all and make sure the the inner circle is seen as the humans they are; not the clique they seem to be. And yes; they do put that air off quite a bit, but it's definitely not intentional, they just have their own internal references that can intimidate others.

Like many old timers here such as Cassino; I'm seldom in all of the loops; I just exist as a long-standing member. I doubt I'll really ever be much more than that unless someone higher chooses to make me more. But for that, I would never hold my breath or have any expectation of that ever happening.

I'm going to join in the chorus of the seniors here to mention I've been here for a long time but not the most well known. I was mainly stuck in the fanfiction section for a long, long time and there was one time where some people recognized me as in one of the fanfic groups back when the section was much more active. However, several of those people moved on from this site.

From my several years, on and off, here I see quite a few complaints over the elitism but then a certain group or two eventually moved on. That naturally happens.
