FireRed hack: Gary's Mod (Beta 2 Released!)

Haha well Nidoran F is in the same location as the vanilla games, I rarely touch the wild pokemon data. :P

I will be using the map space but not the actual maps themselves. So Navel Rock and Birth Island will be completely different areas, and the tickets will probs be repurposed as well haha.

I haven't touched the Mystery Gift stuff just because I find it so unnecessary so I'd recommend not interacting with that. I already have Pokecenter promos, can't give you guys too much stuff now. :P

always thought both nidoran's could be found at route 22, seems i was wrong, but no matter i got her now

so while the maps will be different, both islands will appear and likely have the known legend's on it
(never got to either islands before, curious to deoxy's puzzle and the inside of birth island though, but your map's sound like more fun as well XD)

so the mystery gift is a basic rom issue i guess, just wanted to know, if it was a bug then you would needed to know XD
cant wait till the next release, not that i am far into the game yet (taking my time, i feel that gary would train all his pokemon to a level fitting the next gym, then pick those to take the gym down and then re-balance all pokemon to the same level and then pick out the very best to travel further)
but i am SOOOO curious to the next promo ^^

seeing you took pichu from nintendo, then i will use one, with volt tackle and iron tail though beyond that will be altered to my own pichu set (increasing the movepool)
off course only if i can get someone to help me on that problem, hopefully someone by now has replied XD

I just double checked, and I was using patch 2.04 for my entire playthrough. Now my own mega evolution mechanics worked fine, but enemy trainers and their pokemon were both just rather glitchy. Their trainer names glitched at the start of the battle and the script when mega evolving I think? I haven't fought any more trainers with it since, so it's hard to remember the bug in complete detail. My mega Pidgeot works lovely, though.

Found another bug. When an opponent uses megas but his Pokémon is knocked out in the turn in which it tries to mega evolve before it can attack, the mega evolved sprite will show on one of the other Pokémon of that opponent. Was like that with Koga and with Mr. Fuji for me since I sweeped their teams without resistance ^^

Well, I doubt I'll include all of the legendaries in the game (slim chance for any post-gen1 legendaries to appear) but there will be heavy references to them within the new maps.

Ah great, and here I thought I squashed this bug. Just to be clear, both of you are using patch 2.04 and both of you patched it onto a clean fire red 1.0 rom, right?

I used patch 2.04. I don't have a 1.0 on the rom file name, nor a 1.1 or whatever, but I keep a copy of the clean rom and it works with every single hack I've tried which requires 1.0, so I'm assuming it's the unmodified version?

This is a seriously awesome hack! Heck, I only made this account because of this hack. I always liked the idea of playing as Gary and being just a general douchebag most of the journey and especially 1-uping my rival. Keep it up! Can't wait for Beta 3 really. This just has so much potential for it really. I made sure to go as far as I could and physically went ' aaw ' when I realized I got as far as I could

Yes, I'm using patch 2.04 on what I think is a clean fire red 1.0 rom. I pulled the rom from my game I bought a couple years back at a games store.

If you want I can recreate the problem and screen capture. Don't know if that would help you.

Found a bug

Alakazam has no ability installed
Likely a dollsteak point but still somethinf ro lool after

EDIT: tried to fix alakazam myzelf and noticed something else
the issue with its lack of an ability comes that the abra i caught had magic gaurd, which is set as its second ability, but alakazam for one reason or an other had nothing set down as second ability

but i also noticed it had no moves after lvl 18/19
this could be an issue due to some error message i got from the tool i was using, but it could also be an bug or oversight

also i noticed pigeot had something with its second ability but i forgot what that was
did not look into it further (or saved the fix) due to my kid XD
(though the lack of save is also due to alakazam and kadabra having no movepool further, making training it kinda useless)

Is staryu a trade or really unavailable cause the pokedex say's unknown location

Kangaskhan is listed in the dex as a : normal/type
Basically the image of the type logo is added

Also noticed various pokemon such as cubone and ponyta also being unlisted in the dex for location aside the staryu i mentioned before

Pretty sure the coin case is obtained from the guy in the top left corner of the restaurant in Celadon just like it's always been.

The Coin Case is obtained from doing events in the Rocket Headquarters and then the Catacombs.
As for the VS Seeker, I don't think there's a way to obtain it currently, and like the Fame Checker it might not make an appearance, but I don't know.

The link cable works just like an evolutionary stone. So you'd have to give Onix the Metal Coat and use the link cable on it. I evolved my Kadabra and my Haunter like that without any problems.
