Do you just think of characters ideas on the spot, or do you like to have them planned out for a long time? What inspires you to make a character that character?

I suck at making characters on the spot. I need time to think about things, and make them make sense. I usually have them planned out for a long time, and all they need is an RPG to give their history some context. I usually get inspiration from other characters in other things I like. (Books, Movies, TV shows, etc.)

I have a collection of characters I recycle for everything, It's growing as I make more characters. xD

I bid you all, adieu. Happy roleplaying! (And work on a better slogan!)

Oh, two years? I suppose that might go by faster than one might think, but even if it does, by that time I'll be near or have graduated from high school, depending on your exact return (which I hope you do!)

I don't like seeing old faces disappear around here, so I'll miss seeing you around, but good luck and come back to us soon! It was fun roleplaying with you for the brief time I was in Odyssey.

@Konekodemon - Yes, actually, I do! Well, one that includes the Gen VI pokémon, at least, but not Kalos itself. The Lost Islands League 2.0! The link is in my signature. It hasn't really been active this last month, due to me being absent, but I just updated the thread and hope to get things moving! Feel free to submit an application. :3

Well, I kind of just . . . it goes something like this:

poof! wild character idea has appeared!

Sometimes I have to rely on an item or event, so occasionally it's more like

whoa, look at that! and that story! awesome tv show/movie/book/music! poof! wild character idea has appeared!

And then I just kind of elaborate on them and poof! new character!

As I read through an OOC thread, ideas will start to pop into my head about what sorts of characters I'd find interesting. Reading through the RPs SUs helps me narrow it down to one vague character concept, like "I want a sharpshooter who sucks at magic"(Luka from Reapers). That all usually happens relatively quickly. After that, I'll spend days and days fully fleshing out the character and figuring out what sort of character I want to fill those shoes I've set out. For inspiration, I usually end up noticing something around me as I go on with life (I see something in media that stands out to me, or I hear something from someone that makes me think, or a train of thought goes somewhere unexpected) that provides a spark for figuring out where I want the details of my character to be heading. If no such "something" is there, I'll then find something from my past that I've seen or experienced before to draw from. Characters I've made without either of those I seem to have a hard time RPing as.

So to concisely answer the question (TLDR), I do think of basic character ideas on the spot, but the process of making that character that character takes quite a while as at first it is only a vague concept. The inspiration for that is my life, to put it simply.

I think of them on the spot! I literally find a roleplay I like, read the plot and all the existing sign-ups and crap out my own sign-up in about 3 to 4 hours. My inspiration for characters usually stems from how I think they'll interact with the pre-existing characters. If there's a lot of gloomy characters, I'll make a really bright and fun one-- and vice versa. I like balancing out the character roster as best I can, since playing all kinds of characters is quite fun if you spin it right.

Usually yes, generally I decide I want to be in an RP that has space and I just sit down in front of the SU skeleton and pound out a character as soon as I get inspiration. Early on the unfortunate result was that a lot of my characters ended up very similar, or at least sounding similar in their SUs. When I did have a fit of inspiration it was one of those "Eureka! I HAVE TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN NAO B4 I 4G3T afgfhgsdgdj" Moments that all too often came to me in the middle of the night, resulting in cases like Gerard from Cross my Heart and LongShanks from the Imprisoning War where I typed like crazy from 10 to 5 in the morning before spending the next day or two fixing some problems born of my rabid middle-of-the-night writing.

Thankfully, even though I worry plenty about the SUs being as good as possible when I write them, ultimately what's important is just that the SU fit' the RP's rules and portrays the character well enough for people to get a basic ideas. Because it's the RP itself where you really flesh out the character, and for my part I seem to be MUCH better at the RPing part than the SU writing part. If I remember what I was told right I basically make boring SUs for interesting characters >.<

"In the Roleplay Corner, bribery is accepted!" has been this week's tip every week. Does it ever actually change? xD

Nope. It's an eternal tip. The mods are just trying to see how long it'll be before some sucker offers to pay them money to get into a roleplay xD

I have noticed the roleplay of the week doesn't change a lot either.

They change on a whim ;; Crossroads has only been out RPOTW for a bit though >< (2 weeks maybe shh).

I like to plan out a character, because not only am I making another "being," but I like to put a bit of my own self into my characters, to relate to them on some level.

Also, hi everyone. Haven't been here in a while, but that's because not many RPs catch my eye, or are available. ;P

I accept paypal and cheques as well as gift cards

I'm just lazy if you have some funny or RPS to suggest rather than just me picking one randomly, shoot us a VM/PM

A long time ago, I posted an rp thread in this forum, and it has been removed or hidden because no one partook in it. Someone has now asked to be in the rp, and ive approved his character and such. If there is a mod out there, could someone make my rp thread public, Its called Genome. Thanks!

[Delete!]

I hope that helps a bit?

Don't mind me I'm a bad person asdfghjkl; (I did a no-no. My bad)

On another note . . .

I was gone for about a month, due to little computer access and a lot of things going on with school and the like. I returned a few days ago, and so basically I just wanted to say that sign-ups for The Lost Islands League 2.0 are still open. I know, I'm a crappy person and the roleplay is off to a bit of a rough start, but if people are willing, I'd like to get it moving again.

Welcome back! Looks like LIL2 got a bit slow in your absence, if your players aren't still around/available then you could always think of rebooting.

It's not long until the summer holidays for UK/US now! That means, for a lot of us, extra time for roleplaying and writing!~ Anyone got any RP-related plans for the coming months?

Only to join anything interesting that pops up. xD

I'm not that good at GMing. I've tried it, that ship has sunk. Then I patched up the hull, and it sunk again. xD

Might try rebooting my old D&D RP, if there's some good interest. If anyone feels the RP Corner needs a little more dungeons and/or dragons, feel free to say so :P

RP related plans, yes! No? Yes? Maybe.

I'm devising somethings but my GM record has gone with having one RP die before it even began a while ago. That's probably not a good thing. Either way, I'm going to be on vacation and vacation-related shenanigans will ensue, so depending on what happens my activity may go up or down. I'm not sure which it'll be yet so let's just assume it'll be down. :|

I dunno man... Dungeons? Great, fantastic, amazing. Dragons? Sploosh, I'm in. But dungeons AND dragons? I'm not sure if I can handle that, it may overload me. With that warning in line, you could probably count me in, I've never even PLAYED D&D once, which is exactly why I'm interested.

My plans are about the same as Monster Guy's. Just on the look out for any non-pokemon roleplay's that catch my interest. Alas, summer vacation doesn't start until the end of July for me. :/
