Do you have a roleplay character that shares the same traits (personality-wise or other) as you do?
Well... whether we admit or realize it or not, the majority of our characters have a little bit of us in them. So, yes, of course. All of my characters possess a quality or a flaw of mine, although it is imagined entirely differently, in another setting, the setting of the new character. For example, a character of mine is a pedantic with tinkering, because engineering is his job, and if he fails at that, he's good for nothing. I, on the other hand, am pedantic because I stress about details and keeping things tidy, which is more like a hobby.
Might not have been the best example... still. My point is across
What, to you, makes a character 'good', fun or interesting?
Their unexplored side. What they do not appear to be. It's fun for me to wait, building my character through the story until that point where they show hidden qualities, which sometimes can be terrifying in comparison to the already present ones. The change that occurs during the peak of the story can be massive. That's what I liked in my character in SV's Odyssey, Bloodthirster, who scorned the honorable ways of the peacekeepers and loved to do war, but upon the moment of his death, he admitted to himself to not regretting having joined them (although he never said it verbally) and realizing that he did the right thing, which was noble and honorable, much unlike him.
Another interesting factor in a character for me is the amount of power he has to change the story's course. I love characters like masterminds and string pullers who direct the story behind the scenes, without any of us knowing a thing about it.
