Giving Nidos the buff they deserve.

I can't hide the fact that Nidoking is my favourite pokemon, and I like Nidoqueen too.
Having said this, I still think their stats and abilities should be reworked. What about you? Do you like the nido line? Do you think they should get a buff, or are you satisfied with how they are?
    Here's my detailed opinion:
    Spoiler:

Anyhow, this is all just my opinion. I do love the nido evolutionary line, but by making this thread I've tried to be the less biased I possibly can be, and provide a reasonable argument.
Here are the stats, how I think they should be:
    Nidoking
    Total 600
    HP 91
    Atk 132
    Def 97
    SpAtk 105
    SpDef 90
    Spd 85

    Nidoqueen
    Total 600
    HP 120
    Atk 97
    Def 107
    SpAtk 95
    SpDef 105
    Spd 76

I agree with you. I'm making my Nidoking with full iv's and EV's in sp. def with an assault vest. That could help it a little. It's movepool is great. You can give it a life orb, but the recoil won't occur. It could use a little boost in stats, though.

Nice! I am glad someone agrees with me.
Your strategy is interesting, even though there are many pokemon better suited for the assault vest, like Tyranitar and Goodra, I think even on Nidoking it could work out well. What about speed, though? You're going to end up with a pretty slow Nidoking there. :)

I am putting a speed hindering nature that boosts sp. def. i don't need speed in it. I'm using nidoking because it covers nearly all of my weaknesses and I have no special wall.

Yes yes yes. These Pokemon, for as strong as they look, are incredibly underwhelming. Surprisingly, I actually prefer Nidoqueen over Nidoking. She has more defensive stats, and her movepool is better.

Also, you probably already knew this, but in generation 6 Nidoqueen and Nidoking's stat total got boosted by 10 points.

Both Nido's already got a boost in Gen 6. Nidoking for a boost in his attack by 10 points, as did Nidoqueen. I don't agree that they should be Pseudo Legendary Pokemon. Neither even scream that by looks alone. I could see them getting a bit more of a buff, maybe bringing up their total to 550 instead of 505.

Fairy types really aren't that great. Hardly needs to be a reason to increase the Nido's. Stat wise they almost barely compare to Poison. Fully Evolved Fairy is higher but average they are lower.

The Nidos have always been great. I don't see any reason to fix what was never broken.

Honestly I think the nidos are both fine, competitively at least. I'm not too sure on this current generation, but as of gen V they were both in the UU tier, and were both to be feared special attackers. Life orb/Sheer Force makes them devastating special attackers. I think the argument for buffing them up is a little subjective haha, as they're both more than decent pokemon. I do agree they should be taller and heavier, as I always pictured them as pretty menacing figures. Somewhere around 6 ft would be good in my opinion. But yeah, both Nidos are fine in my opinion!

You have good taste, my friend...I, too, am a Nido-family lover...

However, I don't think Nidoking is in desperate nidova buff...My only issue is that I can't build a physical Nidoking in X or Y due to Move Tutors no longer existing...However, I do run a competitive special set and it works beautifully...

Nidoqueen, on the other hand, I can agree with...She needs some defensive stats...

I'm a fan of Nidoking. More of a boost would be nice, but then it did get one for attack this gen, and a nice hidden ability that still helps it with a bunch of special moves too (really, would have been nicer to get a special attack boost, haha). But I don't think they have been underwhelming, although admittedly I'm yet to use one competitively (probably because I haven't done much of that =p).

Size doesn't matter. Look at Excadrill for example, it has a powerful attack stat, yet it's really small. The Nidos don't need to have their size increase to fit into their menacing appearance. Besides, they've already gotten a buff this gen by having their BST increased by 10.

Size doesn't matter?? I want my Nidos BIG!!
    /endrant

While I appreciate the 10 BST boost, I just think their stats could have been higher and reworked.
Design-wise, I get this feeling that they just don't match their appearance. Nidos are used competitively, yes, and in their tier they are feared as special attackers, certainly, but with their menacing figures, pokedex entries and anime/manga appearances it's kinda counter-intuitive how gamefreak designed them this way and all. But I guess it's just a subjective thing in the end!
