It seems a lot of people think 'brick' means physical damage or something, but it isn't, bricking is when you basically do something your not supposed with the devices software, rendering it useless, such as getting custom firmware for your PSP, or downloading the homebrew channel via the twilight hack on your wii.

As for me, I want to get custom firmware on my psp, but I'm afraid I'll brick it. :[

Bricked my old 1st gen iTouch by replacing it with my own hacked firmware :3

80GB Hard Drive
Video Card (Blown Caps)
Linksys Router

I haven't bricked any of my devices yet but I did get close to doing it on my PSP. I made the mistake of having too many plug-ins activated at once. As a result, the XMB wouldn't load anymore. Fortunately, I could still access the Recovery menu and easily disabled all of the plug-ins and my PSP returned to normal. I guess you can call that a "semi-brick".

Well, I've done some of both. Depending on your definition of "bricked", some of these may not count.

1. My old computer's CRT monitor died. Twice. On two seperate occasions. While I was playing RollerCoaster Tycoon. (The first series of the game, not the later ones)

2. My old GBC GameShark decided that it didn't want to work anymore. It will load up, let me input codes and stuff, but, as soon as I get to the game, if the gameshark is turned on, the screen goes gray and nothing happens. I can't restore the firmware or fix it in any way. I think it happened when my brother was using it to go off the edges of maps in Pokemon Yellow. Did you know that actually causes the game (and Gameshark) to crash? As in, fatal error, BSOD level crash?

3. My little bro was playing with my first GBA, and, when I found it again, the screen was all crackly looking, and it fizzled when I turned it on. Did you know that the chimals in each pixel of an LCD screen are black when not supplied with any type of power, and are not being confined?

4. One day, I pulled a mini fridge out of my closet and try to plug it in. (I won it in some contest years ago) When I plug it in, there's a bright flash, and it started smoking. With its own cable, no less.

5. A whole bunch of other stuff I can't seem to remember, for some reason.

My phone might as well be bricked. I have... er had(I lost it) a crappy already been used Razr. It got washed 2 times and sat in a puddle of night. The water detection sticker is gone. It still works(But I lost it :( ). So, yeah.

I put my mobile through the washing machine in my jeans pocket. Oh, and I once accidentally let our rabbit take my GBC. I don't know exactly what she did to it, but next time I found it, she was sitting on top of it, the screen was cracked and it fizzled when I tried to turn it on :P

I bricked my cell phone by putting it in my swimshort pocket and going for a swim. @~@

Luckilie, the SIM was stil alive, so I got a replacement. :D

But my DS suffered a faith not so good. My mom got me grounded. ;_;

Nah, I never got my stuff "bricked". For one I am careful. Well maybe I did drop my DS Lite on the ground, but it wasn't too bad. Just a a few scratches on the cover. As long anything didn't get inside, it is fine. But I won't count that as being "bricked". I don't mess with the configuration of some items I have. I leave them alone. I don't want to end up breaking them. And make them unplayable. I am illiterate when it comes to hardware and stuff for electronics. XD

None of these things count as being bricked. =P

I actually "bricked" my PS1 back in 2002. I accidentally beat it like a red-headed stepchild and something in the power circuit card thing, that big, green thing with all the soldering all over the place that runs power to the system, broke and now it won't turn on.

Heck, I could try to find another one and get it working again. So, it's "bricked" with an asterisk.

I have, but i repaired it. (it just happened today) :D I semi-bricked my psp but now it's back to normal! :)

Mario, are you talking about the capacitor?

Anyway, I bricked my Zen. I tried putting a song on it, but there was something wrong with the file (it was corrupted or infected), and I got the White Screen of Death. Creative replaced it for free, though, so all is good.

And peeps, a brick usually results in corrupted and/or inoperable firmware/software, not hardware. If it is hardware related, it is usually just broken.

Yeah, I bricked my old phone that I had, don't know how though. I think my sister downloaded some dodgy ringtone onto it... Also, my sister pulled my Zen out when I was copying some songs across and it crashed.

Oh! I also threw a Tamgotchi out of a second story window. =)

I dropped mine from 6 stories up at a hotel on holiday! It was on the ledge, I went to pick it up but accidentaly knocked it off...

Bricked my first PSP trying to flash a theme, so called Sony, lied and got a free PSP as it was in warranty, tried to downgrade new PSP, bricked got a new one, bricked, got a new one, upgraded then downgraded and is still going :D

I bricked my favorite phone that played Itunes on it because I did not check my pocket when I threw my pants into the washer.

I bricked my cell phone but getting in a fight and throwing it :O

ive "bricked" 4 nintendo DS's if that counts
iam using my fifth one :D

I was close to bricking my DS because after I took a shower, I left it in my bathroom upstairs ,and it got wet after my sister was done. All it took was to dry it for three hours straight and then let it sit for a day. Worked perfectly the day after :)

Guys, getting stuff wet doesn't count as bricking it. Read:

I can't say I've bricked anything. I'm damn lucky, considering some of the stupid things I've done, though.
