4th Gen HeartGold/SoulSilver Speculation

Unlike the 2nd Generation were the shininess was determined by the Individual Values of a Pokémon (to allow backward compatibility with R/B/Y), since 3rd Generation onwards the shininess no longer need to be linked to stats due to incompatibilities between the previous games. As such, the odds won't change till the 5th Generation, eventually.

It would be terrible if they made it more likely to get shinys.

Well, with the PokéRadar it's easier to get shinies. After all, the probability for chained shinies can get up to 1/200 rather than the usual 1/8192.

Ive never heard of it or tryed it XD but it sounds like a good idea but i dont think ill be able to find one but i guess it would be cool if they used this

In GSC, the chance of hatching a shiny is 1/128 if one parent is shiny, and 1/64 if both parents are shiny or you are using a shiny Ditto. The chance is zero if neither parent is shiny or Ditto is not shiny (with one exception, see spoiler).

This is because shininess was determined by IVs, which could be passed down by breeding.

See spoiler for some detailed technical stuff:

I would love if that happened because I think a golden magikarp is better than a red garydos any day!

Couldn't this be in HG/SS Speculation?

Also no, I don't think they will that was Crystal exclusive I think.

It's not Crystal exclusive, and it's not a 50-50 chance either.

It deals with IVs passing down by breeding. (See my post above.)

1.) Will we be able to cut grass again in this one? (In the color/metal gen you could cut the tall grass).

2.) Do you think they will do anything with the burned down Cinabar Island in this one?

3.)Stones! Evolutionary Stones were a pain, do you think they'll make them easier to find? And if they do, what will happen to Bill's grand-pappy?

^ if you go to this guys youtube channel, he has a lot of videos with so much information about HG/SS. he's posted news such as a fight with cynthia, a possible map of hoenn, small playthrough clips and much more!

^ No, he's very well known for posting fake stuff, I recommend not discussing what he posts here.

So Kanto is confirmed eh guys? I don't know why so many doubted they wouldn't add the Region, it played quite a big part in the originals. I really can't wait for these games; these are the sort of games the NDS's were developed for. I may even buy a Japanese version of the game.. I can't wait for 2010 >_<!

Yeah... as Zowayix (and others!) said, the chance never was as high as 50/50 if you bred a shiny Pokemon, let alone two. The chances were improved, but that's down to how the game mechanics worked then - now, since they've changed I wouldn't expect it.

There's always the chance for the Odd Egg though (Pokemon egg given to you in Crystal on top of the Togepi egg which had the offspring (2d gen 'baby forms - e.g. Elekid) with Dizzy Punch and a 50% chance of being shiny), and there is a 'Mausda method' (sp?) which does somewhat increase the likelihood of breeding a shiny if you breed foriegn Pokemon - but nowhere near a 1 in 64 chance, and that's done to further promote trading via the GTS, according to a game creator and all. Don't expect anything else from that, personally.

Maybe, but I don't really think it'll happen... but hey, it's only a minor thing anyway, so who knows?

They may... it'll be interesting, have to say. I personally would be kinda iffy if they did pretend that never happened given it was a GSC thing, but I'd prefer if the Island was still... not so darn dull (seeing the volcano would be neat), and the same for the Seafoam Islands.

Stones... well, I personally believe they may go the Route Crystal did - in that some people, when they called you, would give you an item if you visited them on top of the possibility of a battle - some of those were the Stones. (And we know the phone function is back as well...). Since Bill's Grandfather still had the same role... maybe he'll continue having that as well. Wonder though if showing him the 4th gen Eevee-lutions does something, if he does return?

1. You can do it in DPPt too as much as I know (not in RSEFRLG though), so yeah.
2. Maybe. I have big hopes about expanding the games, especially Kanto..
3. Maybe, you can always trade from DPPt at some point. His grandpa should stay.

Misty?Brock?

I was thinking...In HeartGold-SoulSilver you will be able to fight and the Kanto Gym Leaders...That means that we will fight Misty and Brock?Or the Leaders will be changed?

....why WOULD they be changed? If its a remake, then it will be the same as it was 10 years ago in GSC >.>
