4th Gen Heatran

You can get the legendary Pokemon Heatran in the Sinnoh games once you beat the postgame, and the sidequest with Buck. After going back to Buck's grandfather's house, you can then battle Heatran and capture it. Also, strangely, Heatran is the only legendary Pokemon that can be either male or female.

Did you capture Heatran? What did you think of it? I've always found Heatran to be a waste of a legendary Pokemon since it didn't really have much of a story to it, if at all. I've also always found it weird how Heatran is the only legendary Pokemon that has a gender ratio of 1 male to 1 female. It was never even explained, either.

I often forget that Heatran exists, honestly...I mean, it's not quite as bad as Phione/Manaphy, but as far as Legendary Pokemon go it is definitely one of the most forgettable out there. That it was reduced to base subservience in the twelfth movie severely undermined its status, too. Design-wise I don't think it's terrible, but it's just kinda...there. "Too many Legendaries" is a common complain of Gen IV, and with Heatran I can almost see where that complaint originates from, because it's not particularly special, outside of there only being one in the game.

I caught it in Unova, never Sinnoh. i think he's kind of forgettable, both in design and in its presence in the game. Which is too bad, cause it's typing is so cool

I don't remember too much but from what I do I enjoyed it. I remember playing my DS at my brothers soccer game and going with Buck through Stark Mountain to catch Heatran.

I actually kinda like Heatran. It may not be the most majestic-looking legendary Pokemon or the most powerful, I can see why it gets overlooked since it shares it's generation with the Creation trio, Darkrai and more, but it's ultimately still a strong, versatile mon that can counter some very threatening pokemon like Ferrothorn and galewings Talonflame. It was playing the post game battle facilities in later games that Heatran first came up on my radar as an option, and I ended up really enjoying using it on my team.

Heatran isn't genderless and doesn't come with the heavy backstory or relevance to the plot that you might expect of a legendary Pokemon, so him being classified as one does seem random beyond it just having high stats. But to me there's still a charm about this Pokemon, his look reminds me a little of Volcanion. So long as you can predict when an earthquake is coming your way he's a bulky tank that can inflict a lot of damage. That 30% chance to burn with Lava Plume is nice.

I never caught it and it's my least favourite Fire-type. I usually just forget it exists. In my opinion it's not just wasted legendary slot, but also waste of unique typing (similar to Volcanion). Especially in Sinnoh which had bunch of just more memorable legendaries.

I remember I wasn't sure if it's even legendary Pokémon when I was younger. For me Rotom is more legendary Pokémon than Heatran.
