  • I just fought Giratina until it hardly had any hp left and then i used ultraballs. I save the masterball for either cresselia or mespirit since you have to chase em around the entire region on foot or bicycle.

  • I used many dusk balls to catch it. It was really tough but the effort paid off in the end. I kept it stalled using a Drapion. I was ready with many(more than 150) Hyperpotions in case the battle took a bitter turn and giratina defeat my pokemon before I capture it. Got it after maybe(not able to remember correctly) nearly 30-40 tries.

  • Catching Giratina was the hardest of all legendaries so far.
    It runs out of moves..= gets killed by itself.
    I used Dusk balls to catch it.

    I was one of the lucky ones who threw a poke ball and caught Giratina on the first try.

  • I used Dusk Balls and Ultra Balls. It took heaps of tries, but I eventually caught it with an Ultra Ball, I think. XD;

  • For me it wasn't all that hard to catch him.. oddly enough. I probably only used about 7 Ultra balls. You have to get him to critically low health. Save the game before trying to catch him, then use different moves to try to get him to his lowest health :)

    Giratina was probably the hardest legendary pokémon for me to catch. In my Pokémon Pearl game, Giratina took me a couple of days until I could finally catch it. I mostly tried to use Quick Balls on the first try, but after the first turn of the battles I had with Giratina, Ultra Balls were my best luck. There were many times when I had to soft reset as well in order to catch it. But as I said, Ultra Balls got me to catch Giratina after many turns of using Status Effects on it and getting Giratina's HP to red.

    Of course, I could've gone the easy way and use my Master Ball on it, but however, I wanted to save my Master Ball for another legendary I had in mind. There is always cloning the Master Balls in Pokémon Emerald [the safe way] and migrating them to my Pearl version, but I chose not to do so.
    As for catching Giratina in Platinum, I haven't reached there yet and hopefully I'll be able to catch it with an Ultra Ball once more.

  • Ultra Ball since I didn't really want to use my Masterball. It took a really long time to do, though. I had to reset like 20 times to get it to be caught.

    On my first attempt, I got it to the low red in the HP bar, put it to sleep, and spammed Dusk Balls until I ran out. I soft reset, battled him again, used one Quick Ball as soon as I went in, and caught it. =D

  • I spent hours trying to catch Giratina. (Wanted to keep my masterball for a roamer) I had like 40 ultra balls, it was on Red HP and asleep most of the time. But I kept running out, but after much persistence, and many soft resets, I Eventually caught it. :P
