Dipu once made a topic like this months back, it died but I wanted to bring it back up.

So, they were once PPN purple, then beautiful blue and now a gorgeous green. It's PC's own Supporters, aka those peeps with the italic usernames you see floating around who show their support by helping out PC's server.

For those of you who are supporters, what made you want to donate to PC? If you are supporter but didn't donate then how did you become supporter? For those who donated, do you regret donating (insert amount of $ here) to PC?

And if you're not supporter yet, would you ever consider donating? Do you think supporters are like a special "level-up" or some act of kindness?

When I joined PC I always wanted to become a supporter for many reasons. I wanted the fancy profiles, the blogs, access to the VIP forum, and ofc helping PC. I donated $15 the first time and then donated another $10 for a friend. I don't regret it at all. I love the perks and helping PC gives me a great feeling.

I became a supporter during a bit of a contest in the CC&P DCC. Whoever grabbed the 10,000th post (it was 10,000 right?) won a Tier 2 supportership. Dipu ended up winning, but he's already a high tier. I posted immediately after him, so he gave it to me. [:

Considering how happy it made me, I plan on eventually donating money to give someone else a supportership.

I've donated to this site because I personally felt it was worth donating to, period. (Apologies if this comes across as too cocky)

Sure, I probably would've donated less if it wasn't for the small perks, but I don't regret a penny of it.

Heh, technically, I'm a supporter, but if you look at me right now, it'll say that I'm not. I'm in that unique/weird position where I donated on a different account ([supporter]Bloodex[/supporter]) and then switched to a new profile, this one. Even though I donated on my old account, we're not allowed to transfer supportership (it'd cause too many issues) so this account won't be green if I were to be demoted. Let's hope I don't have to worry about that, though, haha. At the very least, I still have the emblem, which Shawn was nice enough to transfer for me. :3

I donated $10 to this account for two reasons. One was definitely for the perks, I'd be a liar if I said that didn't come into play. I also felt like I owed PC, though, for making me into who I am. And while $10 isn't much, it was something. Since I could't pay via online, I resorted to snail mail, which actually didn't take as long as I though. Three days, iirc. That made me a Tier 2. I jumped to Tier 5 when I won the 2012 review-it competition (or something like that) in GE, talking about how underrated Resident Evil 6 was.

I don't regret donating to PC one bit. I love this place. And hopefully I'll find the time to donate again on this account. [supporter]Vertigo[/supporter] would be pretty neat, I'll admit. =P

That being said, the actual "rank" of supporter means very little to me. The italics, while a nice touch, is something that I really don't see all that important. It's the thought that counts. And the blogs. ;D

I became a Supporter last year as a result of what happened at an event during PCX, a Get-Together celebrating PC's 10th Anniversary. I entered a quiz on 10 years of PC's history, I had to look through loads of old threads to get answers, and the major prize was a Tier 4 Supporter title.

However, [supporter]Toujours[/supporter] (she seems to have disappeared these days) who won the prize was already a Tier 5 and given the end of PCX was near my birthday, she decided to give her prize to me as a birthday gift, and on my 20th birthday my name officially turned italic blue and while it took me time to get used to, I am now so happy I finally got an italic name that gave me new perks to work with.

Four weeks after that, I was bumped up to a Tier 5 after [supporter]PEDRO12[/supporter] donated $5 to my name. I was a bit curious as to why someone would try and upgrade my tier, but eventually accepted the donation and then I became Tier 5, which I still am today. I am glad I got upgraded because the 400x400 profile pics sure were tempting. The green switchover in February this year was what eventually led to my current black/grey profile colors being implemented, and it looks more professional than the Oshawott designs I had before that.

I once thought becoming Supporter made me get noticed more, but it's still like any other member just with extra stuff to work with. I do hope to one day get loads of money and donate to all of my friends so they can enjoy supportership too.

If you are supporter but didn't donate then how did you become supporter?
Skymin donated for me. I actually got blog access through making 5000 posts, before becoming a Supporter.

For those who donated, do you regret donating (insert amount of $ here) to PC?
If I did, I would, or I'd try to manufacture a justification, unless I got a lot of use out of the Tier 5 E-mail.

Do you think supporters are like a special "level-up" or some act of kindness?
It is a 'level-up' just like the premium systems of other sites, no two ways about it. If there weren't perks, who then would donate? Hardly anyone, I think, but maybe I'm being too cynical.

I would actually donate more just to keep my perks if I were to ever retire from my position as a staff member here, but since I lack the money to do so, I can't do it at the moment :(

But back in 2012, I donated $5.00 just to get my name italicized and be able to customize my profile more. Even though it wasn't up to Tier 5, I was really glad to see that I became a supporter of PC in some way, even though it wasn't a whole lot.

That's a problem that I have with supportership. I don't like it when it's handed out like that, purely for the perks (you make it sound that way, sorry if that's not what you intended). Lately, it seems like people don't donate for the sake of donating. There has to be a pay off, or else who cares? :I

I also don't like it when people make a big deal about it. =(

You have to pay to be a supporter? o.o I didn't know that until now. If I had the extra money, I probably would though. PC deserves it. I'm sorry I'm poor PC I still luv you

Weeelll... i've wanted to donate for a while now... but because I don't have a credit card I can't XD

I feel like no one ever considers snail mail to donate anymore. >>

I was gonna use this method, as I am cautious about online purchases, but I didn't want to wait, haha. But I do wonder if anyone has done this method recently.

I donated (on my past account) because I wanted the perks. Had I known I'd have been promoted to moderator just a few months afterwards, I probably wouldn't have donated. Then again, I didn't donate my own money, so it didn't really matter much to me at the time. I decided to donate $25 because I wanted the PC email address that I never use.

I donated because I wanted to help PC. I was new when I donated, so I wasn't really aware of the perks until almost a month later. xD So, I've been a supporter for almost all of my time here on PC.

I'll continue to donate whenever I can. PC is amazing. <3

I wanted to donate a little while back for the blogging perks. Then I decided I probably wouldn't know what to blog about so I forgot about it. I've actually been thinking about it a lot more recently and if I weren't spending more than I earn currently I would absolutely donate. I love this place.

Eh, I honestly don't remember why, but I donated to tier 1 back in like May of 2011. I'm pretty sure the main reason was because I wanted to look cool with my blue username and supporter bar under my username, but it was also around a time where I started to make a lot of friends, both on the forum and in the IRC chat, and it was when I first grew to really like the community, and I just thought "why not donate?"... my mom was the reason I probably shouldn't have donated, even though it was something as insignificant as 5 bucks. But yeah, the perks apart from the coloured username and the userbar never really crossed my mind, because tier 1 first of all didn't offer that much, and I just wasn't interested in any of the perks supportership could offer. Didn't care much about avatars or more options for profile customization, and I had no interest in blogs at all. And yeah, I just wanted to look cool ;D

I donated a lot of money back a couple years ago using the text method, as I didn't have (and still don't) have a credit card and found it pretty much the only plausible way to donate. I just donated because I had lots of money to burn when I was younger, and felt like helping a place I love out.
