    Ok i just saw Chimchar's tears and i am speechless. If i were to say what is on my mind you will be traumatised right to the spot. So im just going to do a poll
     
    Fine, hate him.
    I certainly wouldn't and dont.
    I find him the most interesting character on the show. I also understand [spoil] why he tortures Hikozaru. He has different training techniques and theories[/spoil]
    I didn't see the episode (long story) but I saw the pictures.
    Shinji, he's awesome because he wants you to love him and hate him at the same time.
    He wants you to love him because he's such a fresh new character
    He wants you to hate him.... because of how he treats his Pokemon
     
    Paul is possibly the best character on the show.

    He has a ton of depth and he's someone every lazy battler can relate too....
     
    I didn't like him from the get-go. He's a bootlegged Silver (GSC rival) that tries too hard to make himself look like an ass.
     
    Paul so cool just because, and he's certainly much better than that stupid main character.

    No Trainer who has such disregard and disrespect for his Pokemon can have a happy future. Paul is a example of such Trainers. He is a cruel and manipulative being, who thrives on power and cruelty. His Pokemon are also examples of those led dow a dark path, such as Silver and his starter Pokemon.

    Paul is destined for something terrible and dark, I will confess this.
     
    I like Paul. He shows that the Pokemon world isn't full of happy trainers that want to be the best of friends with his Pokemon. He brought a much needed change to the anime, showing the other side to Pokemon training. He's not a nice guy, but you can't hate him because he's not on an evil team. He's just Paul. It's like what Crystal Clair said: he's mean, so you want to hate him; but he's a fresh start so you want to love him.

    I really dislike paul he really makes me mad, I don't hate him though.
     
    I just saw the Tag Battle episode arc on youtube when Paul abandoned Chimchar and I gotta say... Paul is the biggest jerkwad to ever grace the anime. He makes G/S/C's rival seem nice. I litterally cried when he just tossed Chimchar aside like that. I can tell that Chimchar will get even stronger with a caring and passionate trainer like good old Ash then disgusting Paul/Shinji. Shinji makes for a good hard as nails rival for Ash but when Ash beats him I'm just gotta laugh at him, he will have it coming, trust me lol.

    i have 1 thing to say GET OVER IT i don't intend to be rude but it doesn't matter oh no he is mean, hes just a character, we don't have to HATE him for doing one thing so u don't like his personality... there is nothing u can do about it he is what he is so u should stop complaining
     
    I don't like how he treats the pokemon but i like him as a character because he isn't run of the mill SUPER HAPPY NICE TO EVERYTHING character, he's a character that shows the bad side of humans (like in the real world where some people are nice to animals, some arn't...)
    idk, he's just interesting.
     
    Well, I think Paul is the best rival yet in the show, espeically with the badass attitude...unlike Gary.

    Paul is a great rival and all,but i hate it when he just dumped Chimchar.
    so i consider him as a jerk and a great rival.
    and i also agree that he has his own training technique and the Pokemon world isn't always happy with good people that are never cruel.
     
    I'm not a fan of how he treats his Pokemon, but I have to admit, I like him. I mean, he is different then what we're used to. He's not boring, not the same, "he hurts his pokemon, then realises his mistake and says he sorry, pokemon forgives him, and they all have a happy ending". He's something different, that adds to my liking of Pokemon.
     
    Personally, I don't hate him for his style of training, but I dislike his arrogance. However, his personality is a fresh change from the other rivals Ash has had over the series. He seems to look down on Ash, assuming that he is a less talented trainer than he is, and he probably doesn't know Ash has travelled through three regions before coming to Sinnoh.

    The reason I like him is because we've never had a character like him and most of the things he does is either amusing for me or intruiging. It works two ways. Heh.
