I wanted the new D/P season to be completely different from all the others...where the anime of Pokemon would start anew, with everything Iwanted to happen would happen.

Boy was I in for disappointment.

For one thing, Ash, Brock, and Pikachu were back...again. Can we have a season without any of those characters in them?! They keep having the same goals, and Ash keeps losing his league tournaments. And he's not even moved by anything bad that happens!

Dawn...ugh. I can't believe how originality ruined this character. Instead of an intelligent professor's assitant, they made her into a boring coordinator, and she is extremely clutzy, bad at battling, and she's another girl character who travels with Ash. If you're gonna put a girl like that into the series, have her travel alone for God's sake!

And in the first episode, they put mean blame on Chimchar by portaying it as a naughty thief who deserved to be punished. Chimchar is my starter Pokemon, and a very cute and hard-working Pokemon. It deserved to be Ash's starter, but as usual, that's the way other kids wanna see it.

I didn't like Paul's unique design. What's wrong with having the blonde-headed kid as the rival? I'd have liked it if he got Piplup instead of Dawn. At least he wouldn't insult it.

I'd have liked to see Diamond/Lukas be the main character. He's got a great design and cool clothes.

In short, I don't want a fith generation anime season unless they do it the way we want it exactly. I'm done ranting, so happy typing!

Yeah i can see what you mean, in each new region, they should of left Ash way behind, and replace with new characters based from each game in the region. Like there was one episode where they had the boy and girl characters from G/S/C show up, but for one episode, why cant they make a series out of it. But like every series, even if Dawn is a bad coordinator, like May, she is going to get better later in the series, thats how the way things are, even with Ash starting over, and leaving his previous uber pokemon behind in Oaks lab T.T

Well first off Chimchar int he first episode was a jerk. No offense, I mean he started the whole thing with Dawn's Piplup. Secondly, I like contests and there is a large demographic along with me who would hate to see them take contests out. However, for the most part I do agree with you.

    I don't mind...

I don't mind having Contests in the series. What I find repetitive is another girl wanting to become a Coordinator. May was alright. The main thing is I like it when original ideas are used only once. Then fans want it more.

Firstly, where did you get the idea of an "intelligent professor's assistant"? If it's from the D/P game, then you must also consider that if you were playing as Hikari, then she'd be the protaganist and not the assistant. She has been portrayed as a "copy-cat" of May, with a few new ideas added on. With similar goals, (most likely due to the mother), it does really remind me of AG and BF's version of May.

However, I would not be able to see them put her by herself in the anime. It would most likely put off a number of people from watching the show if their favourite character 'Ash' had been eliminated off, similar to when Misty left. And, as the protaganist as a female character, it may possibly have put off many guys too, seeing it more directed at girls, regardless of the miniskirt.

They had some problem with throwing in the blonde kid... Shinji's appearance was definitely unexpected, but Ash does need a rival...

Don't you mean fourth generation? xD

I am not familiar with the Diamond and Pearl series as I have only seen the first one. ^^" But I understand what you're saying. I personally don't care much about Ash being the main character over and over again, nor do I mind about the female character being a coordinator. I guess we should live with the fact that Pokemon has become a bit repetative.

But what I think they should change is Team Rocket (spoken of repetative) I think everyone already knows their motto. It get's boring. It would be better if they trew in some more episodes with other members of the Bad team. =/
Not every episode, or it would get just as repetative, but still...

Problem is other then Kengo, they have to make an overly flamboyant male be a coordinator. Or atleast effeminate. I mean other then Kengo and that guy wioth the Venusaur you have people like Harley. Do you REALLY want another Harley?

    Reply

No way. Harley was evil. I think I'd like it is Lukas/Diamond did battling and Contests. Nano chose that in Dawn of A New Era, and it looks like he'll enjoy that decision, if he can balance being a minstrel, too.

I wouldn't call Harly evil. I mean he was JUST that way to May, because of an incident with his terrible cooking and his Cacturne May didn't know about./ I guarentee you, if she was like Dawn and actually could regognize pokemon as well as humor him and said his cookies were a gourmet delight it would have turned out alot differently.

    But I digress

Nando was bishounenish thus mildy effeminate, so you still kind of chose someone know was still midly around the Drew category in mild "girliness."

Lukas, they could have but they have a female charecter in the show to make the fanboys happy and girls happy that there is atleast ONE girl per series that you see for more then 2 episodes. I mean no one wants an all male cast.

Ash never gets better because he continues to start over. Where's the fun in that? I want to see him battle really good trainers and not be friggin whack!

Well they ahve him start over, because then the series would be to short. I mean the series would be half as long. If that long. No to mention he would have no room for sinnoh pokemon.

If we weren't into the D/P anime already, I'd agree. But look at we've got: an actual rival, the first Gym Leader who turned to be a badass, an actual villain (J), Takeshi actually being useful. Not to mention, what's coming up next, but I don't want to spoil.

It's becoming clear they're taking to American forms of writing, as Japanese writing doesn't flow like this.

Yeah I have to agree with you that MAYBE D/P has a plot.

Yes, why can't they have different characters for each generation. For instance, why did they not have Kenta instead of Satoshi in the AG? Maybe Satoshi can be there in just some episodes and if people starts to miss him he can return, but I don't think they will miss him so much.At least not for awhile.

Who's the Gym Leader who becomes a bad guy? Hunter J?

Well, to be honest I think the series started going downhill in Jhoto. I had lost interest in it when the plots got repetitive. But I started watching it again because of a certain Lugia that turned out to be not so important to the plot.

And it really got bad in Hoenn. I mean, they hyped this plot with Team Aqua and Magma up like it was gonna be some world shattering event. But when it happened, it was just a big '---- YOU!!!' to all the fans that were waiting for something worthwile to happen.

With all that in mind, have I deduced that the D/P saga is going to be bad? Well, so far, it's still too repetitive, Team Rocket STILL shows up way too frequently, and worst of all, Ash has yet to beat the new rival (after THREE battles, yes THREE), even though he's seen the guy lose to Cynthia (who somehow managed to actually follow the games and defeat the Elite Four, even though it's already been established that winning the League DOESN'T involve that). So do I think this season's gonna be stupid? Oh, undeniably.

A better question would be, do I think this season will be the worst one? Well, yeah. I mean, the show's been getting worse with each Generation.

Do I sound like I'm being negative? Yeah, I do. Because Pokemon and Nintendo in general have yet to prove otherwise to me.

I must admit, that part of the story has made Pokemon a bit less repetitive. There are however still elements of it that I'm sure they can definitely improve on. Pokemon Hunter J was awesome... xD, gotta make more appearances and come back for some real damage causing effect. I'd rather see "J" than another Team Magma/Aqua attempt with Galatic.

Oh and just wondering how was Hyouta a badass?? xD

I have seen the majority of the DP episodes thanks to the marathons that have been on, and I don't think it has been too bad, but not a huge improvement either. Yes Dawn is annoying as crap and Ash might seem stupider than ever (I think he actually looks and acts YOUNGER at this point), TR is back with the same stupid and recycled plot lines, but there has been some decent stuff, such as the Hunter J episode which I would expect to see in a movie. The introduction of Paul in the series also keeps things interesting and I find him to be a much more exciting rival than any they've had before. You also have to love the huge twist with the whole Paul-Cynthia incident (for the few of you who actually avoid the spoilers, I'll leave it out). Likewise goes with Zoey as the new contest rival.

I also thought the first two gym battles were decent, and I liked how they showed a whole episode of Paul vs. Roark as well. And although it's likely coming in one of the next two, Pikachu actually didn't get to be the star in them.

I really just want to skip ahead and see how Ash's team looks further in the series, because right now I am thinking that his Sinnoh team is looking like one of his weakest. But until he actually catches another Pokemon I would love for his ones now to actually learn more moves. I mean, every freaking Turtwig battle is just it using razor leaf a million times until it finally finds an opening and connects with a razor leaf. I guess in the end with Staraptor and Ambipom it won't look so bad, and I really don't know whether to think if Turtwig will actually evolve or not.

I think they're improving, slowly. Is it the best? No, but it's marginally more acceptable than say, all of Jouto or BF. But, yeah, second to everything SBaby said.

I hope the anime makes Ginga-Dan/Galaxy-Dan not like their game selves, because the G admins are too good to be wasted like that.

As for Hyouta, well, look at his initial match (too tired to dig the Japanese name right now) episode with Satoshi. That's pretty badass to me.

jb, there is a difference being badass and being bad. Heh. As many an anime would tell us.
