I wish smoking wasn't habit forming.

You know as well as I do that anyone with a willpower that doesn't fold like paper can quit it with minimal effort.

That is so not true. Quitting is a very difficult process for most smokers. A lot of people, however, are disgusted after their first smoke and never try it again, but it's not any easier after that.

You are wrong, my friend tried doing that and he got addicted, and it doesn't look cool, it makes you look stupid.

I'd like to see you prove me wrong. It isn't like smoking automatically takes over your brain and nervous system as soon as you take a smoke. But then again, maybe it is JUST me.

It does sort of take over the mind.

I don't get the point of this. Is the thread creator trying to promote smoking as basically harmless? if so, lol lies. :[

Neverrr gonna try cigarettes because I know the damage they do, statistics make no difference to me~
Hakeen, baby, sistah, you're annoying~

Anyway, OP I'm with you man~ Smoking does make you look cool no matter how much these people try to lie~

As much as I agree about the punching and mental institute part, you shouldn't laugh at them. It's rude. My brother is one of those people who have asthma and smoke. As moronic as it is, it's not funny.

I agree~ Sure, you can punch them, and have them institutionalized, but laughing is taking it WAY to far~

If you want to have a relationship with any self-respecting, half-decent looking person, don't bother.

Um, I smoke and I would go out with him~

I could've sworn I said I've tried it before...maybe it's just me :/
My friends tried it, and they have the willpower of a turkey. One of them even failed home school because of their weak mind.

You're just jealous you're not smoking anymore~ I would be to~

Smoking would still be disgusting in this hypothetical world of yours.

Even if cigarettes didn't have chemicals in them that made you addicted to them you can still form a habit where you smoke and enjoy it and smoke more etc. There is no such thing as being unable to form a habit regarding something if it is a part of your life.

Go read this and this. I'll quote for convenience, too.

The Lung Association said:
Nicotine is a powerful drug that speeds up the brain and central nervous system. It triggers the release of a chemical in your brain (dopamine) that boosts your mood, makes you feel calm, and at the same time, can make you feel more alert. The nicotine in cigarette smoke is absorbed through the skin lining of the mouth and the nose. The nicotine level in your blood peaks within 10 seconds of inhaling (breathing in) cigarette smoke into your lungs.

National Institute on Drug Abuse said:
Research has shown how nicotine acts on the brain to produce a number of effects. Of primary importance to its addictive nature are findings that nicotine activates reward pathways—the brain circuitry that regulates feelings of pleasure. A key brain chemical involved in mediating the desire to consume drugs is the neurotransmitter dopamine, and research has shown that nicotine increases levels of dopamine in the reward circuits. This reaction is similar to that seen with other drugs of abuse and is thought to underlie the pleasurable sensations experienced by many smokers. For many tobacco users, long-term brain changes induced by continued nicotine exposure result in addiction.

Found something on a oral health website (and of course there are probably millions of other websites saying this):
Besides the link between tobacco and heart disease, stroke, emphysema, and cancer (especially lung and throat cancers), smoking leads to the following oral health consequences:

* Bad breath
* Tooth discoloration
* Inflammation of the salivary gland openings on the roof of the mouth
* Increased build up of plaque and tartar on the teeth
* Increased loss of bone within the jaw
* Increased risk of leukoplakia, white patches inside the mouth
* Increased risk of developing gum disease, a leading cause of tooth loss
* Delayed healing process following tooth extraction, periodontal treatment, or oral surgery
* Lower success rate of dental implant procedures
* Increased risk of developing oral cancer
There is even special toothpaste for smokers lol.

I also fail to see how having burning grass in your mouth is cool. Could be the smoke, but you can get a torch, it produces more iirc. You are greedy when you do smoke, so that might be another reason since you're showing a common human characteristic even more.

Fun fact: If a person smokes one pack of cigarettes a day at $5 a pack, they would spend $1,825 a year on cigarettes.

Lol, wait. So you're saying that because you can stop easily, the other six billion people on this earth should be able to as well? Just as easy as clicking your fingers? Nope, it doesn't work like that. A lot of people have addictive personalities, others have nicotine cravings, others don't want to stop becausethey want to look cool in front of their friends. Please, for your sake, don't say people who can't give up smoking without a struggle are weak-minded because it's foolish and ridiculous to assume such a thing.

Everyone knows that it damages your health, it's fact and can't be denied. Some people just don't care though so there's no point in going on about the health aspects of it.

Of course it will look 'cool' to certain people; but if the only reason that you want to do anything, smoking or otherwise, just because it makes you look 'cool' in front of a load of yobs then you're an idiot.

If someone still wants to smoke then I say just do it. There are far too many cons though so in the end it's really not worth what you're getting out of it.
The worst part about smoking is how it hurts your wallet, imo.

If you read one of my previous comments, you would've have seen me admit that it could just be me. But honestly, how is smoking so hard to quit? If you can't fight it yourself, then let other people restrict it for you, especially if you don't have the money to buy it. Again, it could JUST be me(to prevent further confusion.)

So, I think it'd be nice to just be able to light up and get that reliefy feel....

You only get a relief because when you are addicted, your heart rate goes up and when you smoke, it goes back down again. Don't be stupid.

Ahh well most of my family smokes, haha. It isn't a big deal to me.

I don't think it's totally "OMGOMGIFUSMOKEUDIEPAINFULDEATH," I just don't think it's the right choice since it costs a lot to smoke, cigarettes are expensive. :I
I'm a really cheap person, so I'm not going to start smoking anytime soon.

It's just the nicotine, dude. And if it weren't addictive, I'd still get the same feeling from said nicotine.

It's the nicotine that you get addicted to. Hence, if you didn't get addicted to the nicotine, you'd lose that feeling.

Yes but if the nicotine wasn't addictive and I only had a cigarette every now and then everything would be peachy. That's all I'm tryin' to say.
