If Ash Travelled Alone...

Say Ash travelled alone. How different do you feel the story may have been if he didn't have travel partners at all? ...Since it seems pretty unlikely Ash is going to travel alone in Alola, try and imagine what it may have been like if he travelled alone as a long-term thing.

If Ash traveled entirely alone, he would probably be trying to do things entirely his own way (sort of like the things he did on the very first episode, such as throwing a rock at what he didn't realize was a Spearow), and probably would not have progressed very much if at all as a trainer. He probably would never have even made it to the Indigo League if he were to go it entirely alone.

Is Ash going to be traveling around the same way in Sun and Moon that he has in every other series?

It would be a lot less interesting if he traveled alone since he would only have his Pokemon and not other humans to regularly interact with other than Team Rocket, gym leaders, and Characters of the Day. Brock especially helped him in some of the Team Rocket battles, so it's quite possible they would've successfully stolen Pikachu. I think though he would have been fine with most of the battles and getting gym badges assuming he gained the same Pokemon that he did.

If Ash did travel alone it would have been a boring show because all shows need character interactions to carry the sub plots.

Also it looks like in the Sun and Moon anime Ash will instead be in a trainer school and not traveling the region.

Ash might have won a league. No petty side character plots to skip training for.

We could also have character development of the Pokemon themselves as opposed to their humans and the star of the generation.

If Satoshi/Ash Traveled alone at the beginning... he probably would have died :D Both Takeshi/Brock and Kasumi/Misty where both great travelling companions, both of them taught Satoshi how to travel and how to survive on the road.

After travelling with them, He would've been able to do traverse the other regions on his own... if he really wanted too.

There probably would have been a lot more temporary travel partners, or perhaps even slightly longer character arcs? Like instead of giving someone like Damian from Indigo the one episode, maybe they would get two or three for the whole Charmander thing instead? This way characters would be familiar, which might be necessary, especially if Ash was alone. But story wise I imagine Ash would have either learned everything on his own, or perhaps been more knowledgeable at the start to compensate for it?
