Let's say I hosted an event, which allowed supporter prizes to be given, but it was anonymous, in a way, in that the winner was drawn out of a hat. But let's say I had a choice over this, and let's say... I could outright choose who wins - without anyone knowing.

If I could... choose, do you think it would be morally wrong if I just fixed results a little? Share your thoughts. What if it got someone here you really wanted? Would it be bad, then?

On that note, if I did choose... which PC members would you like to see in the VIP forum? (Don't say PC members you don't want here - just those you think would be awesome and why they'd contribute to the VIP forum).

    All hypothetical, of course. :)

I think it would be morally wrong. We should always be fair and balanced when giving away supportership as a prize. It's just not fair to the players if not.

However if someone competing is already a supporter of 4-5 tiers, the remaining could easily siphoned off to someone more desirable if they participated and also won the competition. But if you weren't breaking the tie, then there's no reason to show favor to anyone, and I highly disapprove of any staff member considering to do so.

I don't agree with supportership as a prize unless it's in the form of an actual donation on behalf of the winner. I'm not here for that whole "You won a stupid contest so you can become a 3 Tier supporter" scheiße.

I think the only thing wrong about it is that you'd be giving people false hope. But hey, what they don't know wont hurt them?

Personally, I don't think it'd be fair for you to do, but then again, we'd never know. It all comes down to how sly you wanna be (you meaning Nica).

I think it wouldnt be fair, cause you're basically handpicking someone and letting the rest of the people think they have a chance. That would not sit right with me and I personally would never do so.If there's going to be a contest, I think every participant should have an equal chance of winning. Fixing a result defeats the purpose of it. If you want a certain person to be a supporter, it would be better to just donate for them.

Yeah, it would be morally wrong. Calling it a contest and saying there would be some form of randomization--ie, drawing names out of a hat--only to rig it, would be very misleading. At that point, you might as well just be donating on behalf of your friends/whoever you were gonna rig it for.

Unless your question had too much build up and all you intended by it was "who would you like to see as a supporter?" :P

It should be limited to about a couple a year, but other than that, I don't know if that's a good idea to just weeeueueueuee and hand it out like it's dirt.

But yeah and if you're going to do that it better be like the contest of the century before that should happen.

Sounds great on paper, but in reality it would basically allow staff (or just you) to give away benefits for someone who really didn't donate. That in itself allows favoritism of staff to hand over free supportership to forum regulars or "popular" members.

It really demeans the pride of being a supporter - being one of the few to fork out the money to keep this place running. Supportership isn't a status like everyone prefers to see it—its a reward for giving up something you didn't have to give. Simple as that.

It would lower my opinion of you and of the integrity of the staff, if that matters. And then what Patchisou Yotohru said; so if you're going to pay for the winner's supportership you may as well just give it to them without a misleading event.

I'd rather you stick with a random number generator if only for integrity. It's just... weird if it's actually hand-picked. And if word gets out... it'd be a hot mess.

Hmmm I think we'll agree to disagree. :)

Y'know, it's quite interesting to read this thread after winning Supporter Status :l

But I do agree that it would be morally wrong to just rig a competition even if it states it would be random. (It's now a thread where everyone is agreeing with the person above them)

Ahaha I posted it as an April Fools joke - to trick people into thinking it was rigged, given that the results were meant to be on April Fools day. ;) Hopefully it worked??
