    Wow, Oak is irresponsible. He promised to give his nephew Blue/Gary/Asshat his one remaining starter. The jerk takes it and storms out, and Oak's not really sure what to do. All of a sudden, he remembers! Of course! He tricked some 10-year-old kid from next door into catching all 721 Pokémon for him! He doesn't actually need any of these, he just wanted that kid to get a life. He offers you any one of them.

    If you could pick any (presumably unevolved) Pokémon to start your journey with, which would it be?
    want hard mode? no picking eevee.
     
    I would probably pick Zorua, it's a cute and small Pokemon that just seems like a starter itself (plus it happens to be my favourite Pokemon) and although it only evolves once I feel it would be great to start off with one. In fact, I'm gonna trade over my shiny Zorua to use in Sun and Moon alongside Litten :)

    Honestly, I would still want my tried-and-true, classic Squirtle. Yes, it's already a starter (and I've picked it many times already), but it's my favorite evolution line, and Blastoise is still my favorite Pokemon, so I'd still want to go down that path yet again.

    Aside from actual starters, it might be nice to start off with one of the end-of-dex pseudolegendaries (Dratini, Larvitar, etc.). Those things take so long to train, and I generally pick them up late in the game where it's hard to get them caught up to the rest of my team. It would be a lot of fun to use one of them from the start and watch it grow with me on my journey.
     
    Zorua would be an awesome choice.
    I would also love to choose from Eevee, Vulpix, or my favorite cat - Purrloin
     
    Vanillite. It's a great three-staged Ice type and it has similar stats to most starter Pokemon. Considering Ice-types are pretty uncommon early on in most games, it would be beneficial to have access to one right from the start.

        If I could start my journey with one pokemon, I'd pick mareep because it's so cute and got a great potential by evolving and mega-evolving :) And I like Pokemon with fur (Whimsicott, Altaria, Flareon, Cincinno, Mareep and Arcanine for what I can think of)
     
    Swinub or Poliwag. Poliwag is awesome and I'd evolve it into a Politoed rather than Poliwrath. Or Swinub because I like the Swinub line, Ice is my favourite type and Ice types are pretty much non-existent in the first half of any game.
     
    I think it would have to be a cool Dragon-type. Deino maybe? Axew? I love Bagon but I wouldn't feel like having a Shelgon for long, it just reminds me of all the cocoon and middle-stage bug types... Hmmm Dratini would be a cool shout I think!​
     
    I would start off my journey with a Magnemite
     
    I would say Gastly, but having to put up with mostly Normal types in the earliest part of the adventure would be a pain... so I guess I'll go with Swinub. Ice types are rare as hell early game, plus Mamoswine is easily my favorite Ground type and Ice type, and is my overall fifth favorite Pokémon.
     
    I'd start with a Growlithe since Arcanine is my favourite Pokemon! It'd also be like going on an adventure with the pet dog I never had. I've always loved looking after dogs so I think having a Growlithe would be super cool.

    Though if I had to consider other Pokemon, I have to agree that Swinub would be a Pokemon I'd love to start with! It's one of my favourite Pokemon, plus it's super cute. It could also just sit on my shoulder or sleep in my bag which would be nice. The same would go for Pokemon like Gulpin. I feel like it'd also be interesting trying to start with a Ditto though I have a feeling I'd lose it very quickly, considering it transforms into the enemy Pokemon.

    Sorry, gotta agree. Eevee has so many options, it's cool. Otherwise, I like the starters as well :(
     
    I'd go with Gible. Garchomp has been my favourite Pokemon since I first played Platinum. It'd make a really nice change from the basic fire, water, and grass type that I'm normally forced to choose with.
     
    Magnamite, because I love Magneton and I think there are so many good combos to use it with. The first gym would be murder in Kanto though...
