What do you feel is the most illogical thing the Pokemon anime has done so far?

Like I said on my thread; Things writers/directors do in the anime bend the rules a little (e.g. certain pokemon learn moves that can't be learned in game or electric have tiny effect on ground-type). There's so more that bothers me while watching pokemon.

I seriously want to see someone do that. No joke.

Also, a girl hugging a magcargo.

I'll take a different approach on the topic and say the most illogical thing was when they let Dawn release Ambipom. Seriously, Ambipom was perfect Pokémon for Dawn and had interest in Contests only until her last episodes, where all of a sudden, she got interested in ping-pong. That made no sense! It was the most illogical thing in the anime yet, even more illogical than girl hugging Magcargo.

Seriously, Ambipom was perfect Pokémon for Dawn and had interest in Contests only until her last episodes, where all of a sudden, she got interested in ping-pong. That made no sense! It was the most illogical thing in the anime yet, even more illogical than girl hugging Magcargo.

They had to do something to get rid of either of Dawn's two normal types to prevent a type imbalance on her team.

Speaking of type imbalance, unless it's a mono-team, having a team full of mostly Pokémon sharing the same type is the most illogical thing in the anime, as well as the games, outside of bending the game rules.

Speaking of type imbalance, unless it's a mono-team, having a team full of mostly Pokémon sharing the same type is the most illogical thing in the anime, as well as the games, outside of bending the game rules.

Yet, Togekiss, who replaced Ambipom, was Normal type too (until gen VI, where it was changed to Fairy type). And besides, for Contests types aren't as important as they are for normal battles. So what's the point behind removing Ambipom, especially this stupid way, when they'll replace her with yet another Normal type Pokémon anyway? Where's the balance in this? I don't see it, nor logic behind it.

Like Horn said, the stupid excuse for getting rid of Dawn's Ambipom. The cute monkey loved contests and then in her final appearance she suddenly loses interest and wants to become a ping-pong player instead. It was definitely among the worst writing in DP if you ask me, and is definitely something that was likely only invented last-minute.

Yeah, that's my guess too. Now, I just speculate, but IMO, they probably intended for Dawn's final team to be with both Ambipom and Togekiss, but then HGSS came out and with that order from someone in charge, who doesn't care about story but do care about promotion, to give Dawn Johto starter and this is result of this. I may be wrong, but I simply couldn't imagine any other logical explanation for this nonsense.

You're forgetting that type match-ups do matter in contests, because the second half involves Pokémon battles in the anime, so it shares the same role as performances.

Actually, you are forgetting that even in the battle rounds in Contests, showing off the moves and their combo is more important than dealing actual damage, since you can lose points even for badly executed move, which may cost you Contest win. Hence why I said that while types play roles in Contests, they are still not as important as they are in normal battle. The move appearence, combos and the strategy is more important even in Contest battles than types. Not to mention in most Contests, you can't choose Pokémon according to your opponent's type anyway, so that makes this reason even more pointless for me.
