if a pokemon shocks another pokemon they faint or die for a short period but when pikachu shocks ash why doesn't he die isn't it a fact if you get a shock through you heart it can kill you and or if your dying heal you correct me if im wrong

    Die???

Any ways, it suppose to be slap stick humor.

It's just like when Tom from Tom and Jerry is hit in the face with dynamite. It's slapstick.

That and Ash wears rubber underpants.

That and Ash wears rubber underpants.

Wasn't that disproved after he battled Sabrina? XD

Anyways, remember it is still possible for a human being to survive a lightning...

I mean the NATURAL one! If someone survived the admin, I'd be Chuck Norris O_O.

Pikachu is very small and lightning(natural) charges are insane. If a human can survive that, it's logical to survive a cute mouse with lightning (natural) attacks...

I think lightning is gonna get mad at me.

Ash has been shocked hundreds of time so perhaps he has become used to it and possibly immune to serious side effects.

Its a tv show stop over analysing t if not u will find thousand of problems like why can ash lift up a Lavitar which weighs 158.7lbs or 72 kilos so u think about it

We have a question about Ash, and yet no one questions the fact that Team Rocket constantly get electrocuted, shot hundreds of feet into the air by explosions, and come down hard on solid ground. Or maybe we do, but we just quietly accept the fact that that doesn't make sense either.

In any case, my theory is Ash is secretly a member of the undead, so he can't very well die twice.

(On a serious note, concerning surviving being struck by lightning, yeah, but it's more likely that your heart just stops from all that electricity shocking it into submission.)

They are obviously invincible. Seriously its what gives the show character. Team rocket ha taken enough beatings to discipline Hell. We are not supposed to think about it too much. It ruins the fun of it if you ask me.

Haha, good one. Ash probably had his shirt made with semi-conductors. His heart probably has a shock-proof pacemaker.

I agree with you. I could ask millions of things wich are wrong, but then I would have to stop seeing Pokemon, stop playing the games, etc..
Anyway, I think Ash developed a "resistance" with time, and he doesn't feel so much pain. Besides, may be the shocks that hit him are not the strongest.

it's all a matter of humor basically...if the anime was basically based off reality since day one, he might not have made it past the first episode...>_<

Lightning doesn't necessarily kill you if you're hit by it, which would serve as a decent explanation if Ash was only shocked once or twice throughout the anime. However, seeing as Pikachu has attacked him more times than we can count, Ash would have to be very lucky to not get killed if it was normal electricity. But what if it wasn't normal electricity? Maybe Pikachu shocks him playfully, not meaning to do any real damage. That's always how I've seen it, anyway.

Or perhaps it's because we're talking about a children's television show that's not really designed to satisfy reality. Your choice.

Haha, and that would also explain why Ash doesn't age.

It's a kids show. Team Rocket gets thunderbolted and blasts off every episode and doesn't have any bodily harm. The worst I've seen is Jessie get her hair cut off (which is usually pretty funny IMO).

Like everyone else has been saying, it's just part of the anime XD It's directed at children, so of course there isn't going to be death in it.

But anyway, this is the wrong forum for this~ Since you're taking about Ash, it belongs in the Pokemon anime forum.

Well, if they ended up dying, all Pokemon would end up dying just from being in a battle against a fire type or electric or whatever.

Anime physics. Damn, this has been explained a lot of times...

Either that, or it's because Ash is the Chosen One and an Aura Guardian, that's why he's invincible. Or maybe he covers himself in unseeable plastic, so the damage is reduced. Any way, he wouldn't die.

He's the main character, man. If he dies forever (like he is buried in a grave and such), Pokemon is officially cancelled. The producers obviously can't live without him.

And what about Team Rocket they have been shocked more times than Ash and they are still fine i think that allthough the voltage is high enough to travel through the air the ampage isent powerful enough to kill

So basicly what im saying is pikachu only attacks with static electricity

    thats a good point |D
but it is a kids anime so there not going to have people dieing

...Unless you count the first movie (although he was revived ten seconds later)

But like everyone's said so far, it's a kids show, so it doesn't have to make sense.

IMPORTANT: Didn't Ash and Pikachu die in the Pokemon Tower episode, though?
