4th Gen Important Trainers spoke during battle

In both generations 4 and 5, important trainers would show up say things to you in battle. Your rival, for example, talking about his last Pokemon. Generation 5 added in important characters talking to you during battle after the first hit as well, however.

What did you think of this? I liked it. It made battles feel more immersive hearing important trainers actually cutting in and saying something. I hated that this was removed from generation 6.

Yes, but I'm talking about the previous generations. A trainer would speak to you whenever they either send in their first Pokemon, their Pokemon gets hit or it's their last Pokemon. I'm not talking about generation 8's battle cutscenes.

Yeah I actually really liked this feature! It's particuarly memorable in DPP for some reason, I really remember the Gym Leaders etc giving out dialouge in the heat of battle and was a pretty immersive addition. Given that the battles were obviously in 2D when this feature was released, it was nicely implemented to add another level of realism.

It's a nice feature, and I think it could have been expanded on.

Maybe some changes in dialogue depending on how the battle is going. Like if your completely one hit KO'ing the other team, maybe they could have a shocked reaction.

That was cool feature. Especially in Gen V, where the music changes as well, when Gym Leader has their last Pokémon.
