What is your proudest moment in life?

Not really a specific thing but I'm proud of being able to overcome all the shit that's been thrown my way. Looking back on it I've had a medical disorder, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, low self esteem issues and yet I'm still here today in one piece. If I'm not proud of that then I'm not sure what else I've done that I can really look back on and say 'wow you're the fucking best self'.

So curiously speaking, how exactly do you see life? Would you describe yourself as making the best out of every situation, or would you say you're more of a realist?

Hey Derk!

I guess my approach to life is that I'll look for the best in every situation but I'll also be realistic when it comes to the outcomes of said situation. For example I'm not expecting a student trying to resolve a conflict between them and a bully to end up in them becoming best buds. At best they'd probably just leave each other alone and be polite. It could happen but it's not an outcome I expect. Stuff like that.

As for life itself, I think it's really easy to be carefree and relaxed about things once you've overstepped all those hurdles. You're more prepared for difficult situations if that makes sense.

In that same vein, is there anything particular saying/motto that you live by that gives you motivation and drive?

All of Calvins and Hobbes is really good for this sort of stuff. ;]

For example:
'It's hard to be religious when certain people are never incinerated by bolts of lightning.'

Okay maybe that doesn't exactly give me motivation and drive to live but here are some quotes that I like in general:

I'm sure Germany's a nice country but I guess I've never really known what it's like over there. I'd also rather not try and pick up German as I'm already juggling three languages in the form of English, Cantonese and Japanese. I think a lot of people in Germany speak English but yeah if I knew more then maybe I'd consider it! For now it's a place I'd rather go to for holidays than live haha.

Secondly, how far did you get with the Violin? Would you pick it up again given more free time?

Let's see... based on the songs that I was playing by the time I finished, I would say that I was close to starting fourth grade. If I had time then I'd definitely try it again but my interest's more towards the piano at the moment!

Nope! I've tried other pokemon forums like Bulbagarden and Serebii though I didn't really enjoy either of those. Other than that, I think I briefly did HP roleplaying on another forum but PC still remains as my sole internet home.

Outside of Pokemon and League what are some things you enjoy playing?

Mario, Legend of Zelda, Professor Layton, Fire Emblem... I've barely played any of these series but I really like them. As far as PC games go I play stuff like Minecraft, Maplestory and occasionally two player flash games like Chaos Faction 2 / Boxhead with my cousin. Nothing beats watching my Dad dance to California Girls on Just Dance though. ;]

I play basketball the most though I also do rock climbing and swimming. Never really been much of a sports person, I play like once or twice a week haha.

Love URF! Probably the best featured gamemode and it doesn't get stale like the other ones. The games are really fast-paced and it's almost impossible to have a game with no deaths.

What are some of your favorite champions to play in that mode?

I usually go for Fizz when he isn't banned! He's hard to catch, easy to make plays with and generally a really fun champ in both normals and URF. I run AD fizz since his AP one was nerfed a while back though maybe I should give that a go too.

Also love keyboard mashing with Leblanc, Nidalee and the like. Champs that have gap closers/loads of mobility are the ones I like playing most in URF!

What is your least favorite thing to eat?

Oh man. Mint, vegemite, pickles and if drinks count, cherry-flavoured cola. First two are too overwhelming for my taste, I hate the taste of pickles in burgers and cherry-flavoured cola's like taking panadol. I'm sure I'm missing a food but if I eat it then I'll let you know!

Highest rank I ever got was Silver 4, I think? I don't play much ranked but I've never really done anything to change that. I'm currently sitting at Bronze 1 though, so I might try and climb back up to Silver soon. I don't really play the game outside of messing around with friends and the occasional serious game so we'll see how this season goes!

Gonna get some raised eyebrows for this but Spongebob Squarepants. I just love the whole goofiness of it all. Also it's surprisingly realistic to real life with the grumpy co-worker / neighbour, overly cheerful main character, dumb best friend and money saving boss. So that's a plus too.

If you could hang out with PC members in real life, who would you choose?

Squirrel, Pidgey and a lot of other people probably. I've already said this somewhere but I'd really love to meet anyone I've known on PC. As for what we'd do, I think my list changes from person to person though all of them involve buying excessive amounts of ice cream and playing video games. :]

Nope! I've never really seen the appeal in necklaces, bracelets and the like. They seem so expensive and stuff, it's not worth. Watches are stylish as hell though. 8)

Apple juice! I like freshly squeezed orange juice as well though the bottled ones are kinda eh. Grape juice is another one as well.

AUTHOR NOTE: Please don't take this in any way, shape or form as a serious story. As crazy as I think Alex is, I don't think he'd set people's houses on fire with TCG cards. WOOPS SPOILER ALERT

The first mistake of my life was making the choice to move over to South West England in the summer of 2015. The second mistake was choosing a house right next to Squirrel's.

"Are you nuts?" he'd said the first day. I shrugged, unsure if he was talking English or Squirrel. Probably both.

About a week later and I was repeating his own question back to him. After a week of pizza deliverymen banging on his front door, countless employees from the library and one balloon figure of Morgan Freeman later, I was starting to become convinced that the guy was loopy. I even went to the 'Squirrel is Crazy' club ran by the neighbours down the street that week. That was certainly the most I'd ever relate to people in life.

And when I thought things couldn't get any worse, the guy had somehow managed to set his house on fire. With a TCG card.

Taking a step outside, I observed the scene from a distance. Squirrel was huddled in his house of ashes and smoke, rocking back and forth with a flaming Spearow TCG card in his hand. And despite the fact that he'd driven me insane for the past month, it was a little hard not to feel sorry for him.

"Gee what happened here?" I said, walking over.

Smooth self. Can see why people really love talking to you.

He didn't say anything and continued rocking. "Okay well if you need me I'll be here and st-"

I didn't finish my sentence as he threw the still alight card like a boomerang, towards the other houses around the area. He looked amused.

I glanced at him. "Did you just?"

He didn't have to answer. Soon the whole area around us was engulfed in flames. Fucking Spearow TCG cards. What did I ever do to them?

Squirrel laughed as if this'd been the plan all along. I could hear the sounds of distraught neighbours as they huddled safely from their flaming houses. I sat there, still trying to process what had just happened.

"Wait, wait." I said, inhaling a mouthful of smoke. "So you, my crazy demented neighbour from down the street, have just managed to set your house on fire using a Pokemon TCG card, then used the same cards as a boomerang to ignite eighteen other houses and now you're trying to kill me?"

He didn't say anything. The TCG card in his hand had somehow transformed into an actual Spearow which he flew upon awkwardly. "See ya later loser!" he yelled, disappearing into the sky.

"What?" I said, still confused.

God I was going to die. And it'd all be my neighbour's fault. When suddenly...

I squinted as I saw a figure approach me from the sky. From this angle it looked like some sort of dinosaur though I knew they were extinct. Well then again I didn't think it was possible for pokemon to be real either...

"Caaaw caw!" Aerodactyl flew in towards the growing flames, swooping past them and landing besides me.

"What the hell?"

I shrugged, clambering onto its back. Well I'd have time to question the world later...

"I'm gonna call you Normal. Cause you're the most normal thing in the world right now, believe it or not."

He stared as if to say "really?" but there was no time for the questioning of my life decisions. And there never would be. For now I didn't know where I was going but with a remotely normal creature by my side, my next goal was to hunt down my psychopath neighbour known as Squirrel and to claim the TCG Spearow card as my own. "Let's go then!" I said. I could see the lunatic in the distance.

Do you like living in such big city as Sydney?

I like Sydney but I can't imagine living here for the rest of my life. It's a great city though. I can walk down to the shops about five minutes away and there'll be multi culture with stuff like street markets and different restaurants everywhere. There's lots to do in and around the city too. Going overseas does make Sydney feel a little boring in comparison but I still can't imagine not being raised here. I like change though, hence the reason I want to move overseas to a place like England

A little! I'm scared of Alex showing up at my house with a Spearow TCG card and an extra large pizza but at the same time, I think there's more reward than risk. And if he ever does come after me then I'll be ready with the Fifty Shades of Grey movie to scare him off. ;]

Where does your weird insulting friendship with Alex originate?

Not sure if you're asking how we became friends or when we started insulting each other but I'll answer both!

I met Alex back in January 2012 at the #poc chatroom. Having just turned 10 a few months before, I thought that it was the coolest thing to type 'lol' or 'xD' after every sentence and obviously that didn't go well with the rest of the place. Long story short, I had a medical disorder in April of the same year and left because of how severe it was getting. At the time, I had about twenty or so posts and only really went to the PoC chatroom so I rejoined under a new identity. Months later, I came back in August 2012 and we met again.

But to answer the question - we became friends through the server, VMs and clubs! Apparently the medical disorder from before had changed me so much to the point where people were going '?!?!?' when I told them who I originally was. Anyway, I'm amazed that I became close friends with Alex considering our timezones. To give you a rough idea, talking to him back in 2012 / 2013 was like the chance of encountering a shiny pokemon in G/S/C. Later on we got to see more of each other through stuff like League, PT and Skype so the odds weren't as rare. Regardless of whether we talk everyday or only once a month, I'm thankful he's in my life since I really need someone to tell me to knock out all my teeth before a dentist appointment. THANKS ALEX

As for the insulting, I think it first started back when we were playing Winter Wonderland on the server during the Christmas of 2012. Basically our strategy to win was typing the most insults in the chat whilst spamming Present. We're actually pretty nice to each other most of the time though that doesn't stop me from making him look bad in the only section he mods. it's a good friendship I swear

Not that I can remember! I'll probanly donate blood when I'm the legal age but I haven't had my blood taken at the moment.

Nope! I've been to the hospital and had teeth pulled out but I've never needed surgery and am glad I don't.

What's your most frightening experience so far?

Okay this isn't as scary unless you actually know how I looked at said moment but the most frightening experience of my life was probably my first panic attack.

I was 10 at the time and we'd been visiting the hospital so the doctors could check out a problem I'd been having. Being terrified of death, I started worrying about what would happen whilst I was there. A few seconds later and the thought of 'what if my life ends right here' had crossed my mind and the next thing I knew, my hands had started going all tingly. The other symptoms came shortly after - a feeling of sudden coldness, dizziness, finding it hard to breathe, even my lips had turned blue apparently. Though I only realised it was a panic attack years later, I didn't know what to do at the time. In the end, I took 'Cry Me A River' to a new level, was basically hysterical and the most scared I'd been in my life. It's not something I've ever really talked about as I don't like to worry other people but yeah aaa :(

Have you learnt another language, or if not, would you want to?

Learning a language is compulsory up till 9th grade so I've learnt a bit of German and French whilst I currently study Japanese as my chosen language. I'm not that good at it but I guess that's expected when you don't practice. oops

My family's Chinese so I was also taught Cantonese whilst I learnt Mandarin for all of primary school. I used to be kinda fluent at Cantonese though as I got older, English became the sole language I talked in and I forgot most of it bar basic phrases and words. If I had the time, I'd relearn it but I'm also thinking of looking at other languages like Latin which aren't spoken anymore but still interesting to study!

Do you have a favorite mega evolution?

Mega Absol or Slowbro! I don't actually keep up that much with mega evos but Absol looks like a guardian angel whilst Slowbro as a spinning top is just the best thing I've ever seen.

No idea but it better be cool!

Which is your favorite season out of the year?

Spring! It's like the baby bear's porridge from Goldilocks. Just right! Spring also means the school year's almost coming to an end while it also becomes a good time to walk around the neighbourhood and just think. good stuff :]

No but the old lady who lives next door has a few cats! I go to her place when I forget my keys (which is pretty often OOPS) and get to see all of their fluffy faces. Her oldest one's about 12 so in a way, I got to grow up around cats even though they weren't my own. :D

Among the sinnoh starters who was your definite favorite?

Piplup! Chimchar's my second favourite but Piplup was the first starter I finished a game with and the most special. The adventures of 'iCanFly' the Empoleon with getting stuck in Eterna Forest, accidentally killing shinies and getting swept by Garchomps will probably remain as some of my most memorable moments when I look back upon my pokemon career. Really though, it's one of my favourite starters because PENGUINS. As one of my first starters, it's pretty special in that sense too!
