Many of you like to write, A LOT, as much as I do in one thread but I wondered do you actually read these long posts? =P

Sometimes, Only if it's a topic I'm at least interested in or if I see that other posters later on are quoting or responding to that post, indicating that it said something either: very stupid (Common), controversial (Less common), or insightful (Rare). I used to read every single word of every single post, but now just don't have the time nor the patience for a lot of it, especially when it feels like I've read it all a thousand times before. It's difficult for newer faces to feel like they have personality and identity when so many seem like clones of dozens that have been through here before.

Well I do the opposite. Even if it's a troll I read the post, because that gives me insight on who this person is.
As for my posts...if you've been here long enough you'll notice that my posts have gotten smaller, because I think I don't have time for long, drawn out posts. But the quality is still there, trust me.

But the problem I have with noobs is that they're quality in their posts are diminishing. There used to be a time when I would be happy there was a new member. Now, I can't even muster a frown, because I don't care anymore.

    ...wow I was just discussing that with some friends. o_O;

Anyway, depends. I usually read long posts in B/W, to make sure they're okay (mostly posted by DF lol). His posts are the longest posted in B/W, for sure, so, that's the only time I really have to read over long posts, which I'm fine with mostly, because they are interesting. In other sections though, depends on the topic. If it is regarding religion or something in OC that doesn't appeal to me, I usually won't bother with it. However, if it's about something regarding someone's life, rather than their opinion, then I'll usually read it. Then, there's PC tl;drs... if it's about PC, I'll skim read at first, then later on go over them properly, since they seem to be quite interesting to me.

Though on that topic, lately I have been adding more content to my posts, causing a few of them to become longer than they should, but oh well, I assume people will read them, if not, it doesn't matter that much. I dunno, I just like the look of tl;drs as a whole, rather than what's actually in them. Though I find it much easier to post longer posts now that my laptop screen freezes when I'm typing, because then as a result, I type even quicker than I normally would, so that I can check whether someone has imed me in the middle of typing. Luckily I can touch type, which makes it a lot easier for me.

As for smaller posts, I tend to read them but not pay too much attention to them, unless they're about PC, as mentioned. Oh and when I go to post in a thread, I usually read over what everyone else has said, even if it's a tl;dr, just to make sure I'm not repeating information, or something like that.In general though, the quality of the post does matter, but the way I see it is, longer posts usually have a lot more thought put into them than smaller ones... so even if they're of opinions without anything backing them up, that's fine by me, because there was thought put into them, even if the thought isn't exactly constructive.

I don't like to make long posts, normally, because I like to keep my posts short and to the point. Sometimes, I read those long posts.

I tend to read most posts, unless it's a breakless wall of illegible blather (as in a huge paragraph with no breaks, no cohesiveness, and little to no punctuation). Those are thankfully rare, though. I might also skip over really long-winded anecdotes, though ironically I write them myself all the time.

The main reason I try to read most of the other posts, especially those by people who tend to have good input, is to get ideas for my own posts by having thoughts to reply to or perhaps the post made me think of something indirectly related. On top of that, lots of people seem to have interesting things to say and good points to make, so I don't want to miss them. :3

i didn't join this forum to just talk about myself, i'm learning about other people and other things so i read every post i encounter, especially the "original post." the only time i'm guilty of skimming is when i notice an interesting thread by the time it reaches like ten pages and really want to throw in my two cents; but the original post never goes unread.

    I usually read them.

I'm not a fan of writing long posts, usually because I like to get my point across with the least words as possible.

...Who is this "DF" character of whom Forever speaks that apparently makes long posts that Forever has to read in BW in order to make sure they're okay lest they actually be about something completely irrelevant and totally off-topic which is not forum-friendly and which people may find offensive or otherwise appalling though usually interesting, sometimes thought-provoking, and most of the time incredibly long-winded because it is not in his nature to be brief, lol?

Anyways, whether I bother to read someone's long posts or not depends on the person and on the subject matter, as with everything.

Regarding my own posts, however, I don't really care if people read them or not; I do come to the forums to socialize a bit, but mostly I am here to mull over my thoughts (I obviously have a lot to say when it comes to Pokemon, hurr durr) and post them because the other forums I frequent are not Pokemon-related, and although most friends in my LJ are Pokefans, I don't always get feedback (when I do want some, that is), whereas here I usually do, which is definitely nice, not to mention the number of PC's members >>> my number of LJ friends. :3

If it's more than one line its a tldnr for me. I appreciate the effort it takes for posters to put in that much work, but often it comes to my attention that you can get the same amount of detail in, in much less lines.

I read a ton of posts. I'm always interested in what others think. It's just really nice to get someone else's point of view on certain topics. A lot of times it opens me up to thinking about certain things differently, which I think is a good thing. There's nothing wrong with self change/growth!

I tend to write long posts myself, but I don't expect many users here to read them. Often times I just feel the need to write a lot not only because I'm interested in the thread at hand, but also because I feel relieved after letting all my thoughts out.

Most of the time I'll read long posts. If I'm just reading a thread and have no intention of posting in it, or the thread has like six pages and I can't be bothered reading all of the posts I won't read long posts. Also, if long posts are incredibly boring (which is rare but it happens). I'll always read the whole of an original post though, regardless of how long it is.

I don't really read long posts. I listen to them with text to speech on my laptop! I think that's more of a way to go about it than slowly reading posts. Even though I type long posts most of the time, I don't really like reading completely through them or anyone else's without some extra help. This is because I'm naturally a lazy person, of course.

...But I've been trying to be less tl;dr lately, because I do waste a lot of time writing a post when I could be doing other things.

Now that I mod OVP, I read every single post here. That includes the really long ones. :)
...although depending on my mood and who posted it, I might skim them instead of reading it word-for-word... *shifty eyes*

Before I modded here, and in other sections in PC, I only read posts from certain threads that catch my eye. If the thread has long posts, I'll read them, too. Doesn't bother me much.

I occasionally post longer posts but most of the time I can keep things short and simple. I don't mind reading long posts if I have the time, because that usually means the poster put quite a bit of thought into the topic at hand.

I do sometimes and sometimes not I always read them if they are the first post in the topic.

I do not like writing long post though.

I occasionally post long posts (as I did yesterday technically in the How do you identify with your username? thread) because I either really interested in the topic or I'm in a day were I'm rambling about anything and everything. Long posts are fun to write you just have to have the energy to do a longer post which unfortunately, I don't often have.

I do read the longer posts, in a longer post there is always a expressed opinion, but unlike a shorter post it actually explained why, and to what reason they chose their opinion on the topic which they are answering to. I think this is much more interesting than a smaller post, the person has actually given a large amount of thought around the topic and then wrote down their feelings to the topic. This makes me quite fond of posts because I know there is someone out there who thinks in the manner of the large post, especially if they think the same way I do. This way I can quote them and add more to this and make it into a big discussion. I am a person who is fond of those who speak their mind and express what they feel about the theme currently in discussion. But if the quality of the post isn't really to standards that I meet to, then I really don't pay much attention, it's not saying I do not like to read their views on the subject, but I don't want to read something that doesn't seem really that interesting.

The only time I don't really read the posts is as I said above and also if it's something that doesn't grasp my attention. Say a person was talking in detail about a lamp (yes, a very good example) then I wouldn't be very interested, but if this was in VMs then I would skim through and give a quick reply. Scanning around the forums though, I'd read a few sentences to check if there was something in there actually any good for me then skip onto another post which I am much more engrossed into.

I am the person to always read long posts, they don't have to interest me to be read, I just love reading long sentences of text, it's somehow became a habit of mine over these past years, maybe I am just simply a bored person, who wants to read every single post on a page, but I consider it a good thing somehow.
