Name: Janine Asher
Age: 23
Species: Meowstic
Position in the Crew: Psychic
Appearance: This Meowstic is not very remarkable from any other female Meowstic. Her attire consists of a dog tag and with her retirement from the ANF, dons a modified and somewhat worn ANF coat with the insignia torn off, boots, and a similarly modified ANF hat.
History: A native of Iridea in the Carajol Sea, where the sun shone amidst a beautiful gem of a tropical town, life was fairly ordinary for a young Espurr and their family. With her mother an employee in the local government, her father a captain in the ANF and her oldest brother an aeronaut in the ANF, Janine had only admiration for the Navy and the government. Janine's biological parents were unknown to her adopted family, or at least, they didn't seem to know. She heard of all the cool things and all of the good that father and brother had been doing on behalf of the Navy, and could only look up to them in awe. Only problem was that her adopted family were all part of the brawny and physically strong Houndoom family, and her a mere Espurr. Nonetheless, her family shaped her feisty and energized spirit to the kind of person she became through the influence of them, ironically becoming on the opposite ends of her biological parents in terms of her views and outlook. Like all the other kids on the block, her dream was to join the Navy and was certainly in the "in" crowd because of it.
As soon as she became of age and evolved into a Meowstic, Janine dashed over to her local recruiting station and passed all the prerequisites with flying colors. She couldn't help but go home and celebrate heavily as her overjoyed family prepared to send her off to Fort Luc, where her brother was stationed. After a year of climbing the ladders, her talent allowed her to join the frontlines with her brother, where the two worked great together. All the while, they worked together to combat pirates on the border region. From that, from her encounters with pirates were interesting encounters, with the pirates of course fearing the arm of justice meant to uphold the peace. Despite all of that, there seemed to be a nagging feeling about the pirates, especially with their alleged code of honor. Not that Janine took the pirates at their word, but an interesting footnote for all her combat missions nonetheless.
There were always a few questionable activities that happened within the ANF, and Janine began getting getting full exposure to it within her fourth, going on fifth year of service with the Navy. Even with her pro-government bias from the jump, there was always a voice in the back of her head that made her question a few things internally over her years of service. The roughing up of pirates after they already surrendered and beating them, detaining of some "undesirable" citizens that appeared to do nothing wrong. With these sort of incidents spaced out over the years and having the reassurance of her brother, by this point a lieutenant, that these incidents were justified with some government explanation of the events, Janine was assuaged. This particular event, the sudden prosecution of Janine's brother for the absolutely inexplicable charges of embezzlement, fraud and disloyalty to the Navy. Rumors were that these crimes were actually committed by the resident Captain (at this point not Janine's father) and because the two had major disagreements, he had been framed for his own crimes. After all her years of loyal service, and especially after all her brother's years of service, Janine felt absolutely betrayed and floored the Captain, both verbally and physically, and subsequently defected from the Navy bitter and resentful.
Unable to return to the Navy stronghold surrounding Iridea, Janine teetered towards the eastern part of the Carajol Sea. With a sense of depression setting in and anxiety with avoiding the ANF, her salvation came in the form of a pirate crew looking to recruit. With nothing to lose by joining them, especially as Janine had gotten to better know the pirates in the eastern Carajol Sea, she accepted and became a member of Johnathon Sawyer's crew.
Personality: Janine is quite the feisty and energetic spirit with the good ol' Navy spirit running strong in her, even if she no longer is employed with said Navy. Indeed, despite her disillusionment with the institution that has shaped her life, she is very much the same energetic tomboy that she started out as. With thick skin, guile and a prowess for her Psychic powers with her mastery of it, Janine also holds herself in high regard, adding to a reason to want to prove herself. More so than her compatriots, where their looks tended to do half the work of seeming tough for them, Janine always had a burning drive to prove herself to her peers, especially with the like minded crew of the Navy. This drive and attitude comes doubly so based on appearances, earning her quite the reputation as the firebrand in her local unit of the Navy. Despite a certain feistiness to her character, there is always a good natured air about it, seldom being a nasty or unpleasant individual to be around. She likes to crack jokes, have a hearty drink after a long mission, have a good times with her friends and share stories. Having until fairly recently viewed the ANF as a community and growing up in that sort of community mindset, it's apparent where she gets the
She is decidedly an extrovert, flourishing under contact with many people and able to project herself in a social environment, especially given how vocal and outgoing proving Janine needed to be to prove herself to her ANF crew. When left by herself, Janine tends to get more bored easily and generally feels less enthusiastic or energetic, not to the point of desolation, but a marked downgrade in the eyes of Janine nonetheless. This is something that has been brought more to the forefront after being torn from all her family and friends in the ANF.
Despite generally being pleasant a good amount of the time, her fiery spirit comes with an equally fiery temper, usually brought on by the concept of any innocent suffering from injustice, something that she holds guilt in her heart since Janine feels that she has perverted through her participation in the ANF. Apart from that, the usual things that may anger a person would anger her, only amplified with a barking, commanding Navy voice and aforementioned fiery temper. Be it an an aggravating person or a frustration in her life, her temper can come off as strong, sometimes overly so in an especially heat of the moment situations. Only problem is that a lot of these heat of the moment situations come up frequently because of her excitable nature, and it can be overwhelming to certain people. Nonetheless, all is well for Janine if she felt that she gets the point across and that no one got hurt in the process.
Ability: Keen Eye
Type of Mastery or Artifact: Psychic Type Mastery
Moveset: Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Signal Beam, Charge Beam
What is the Fifth Tenet of the Golden Code of Conduct?: "Ah, so ya asking me about the pirates' law now?" With a bit of a crooked grin, she replied, "Well, it's all about keeping your wits on ya and being alert! Something I can relate to..."
