How do you even ship in Bleach? Most of the romance is played up for comedy/fan-service.

Lmao.

That tumblr post - I don't ship but it's clear to me the real Naruto ship should always be NaruSasu. ^___________^

Kek, has shipping ever necessitated support in the content it iterates from? I don't know what kinds of ships you've seen, but man can they go bonkers.

That said, there have been plenty of quote-on-quote "clues" (redundant, I know), be it visual and symbolic duality (black sun and white moon, etc.), subject matter in cover artwork (the so-called "honeymoon spread" has some serious bloody sexual undertones (those aren't just rocks and a palm tree...)), as well as, depending on how you interpret them, interactions between characters.

To be fair to Ichigo/Rukia shippers they aren't the craziest of the bunch. For a long time I thought that it was Kubo's end game. The shoujo bubbles around them on the scene where Ichigo loses his powers (if they watched this in the anime then even more reasonable). Scenes in the flashback with Ichigo's parents mirrored stuff that had happened between Ichigo and Rukia. There was a lot of official art which could possibly support it, although there are bits for everyone so perhaps not. The sun/moon duality and I suppose the fact that Rukia is the main grill (a favourite of Sakura fanbase that one).

I actually quite liked the theory that Ichigo was a reincarnation of Kaien Shiba back in the day, that could have been pretty nice.

Bleach was great for crackpot theories.

It's a shame that she

  • The little (dead? undead?) children that worked with Tessai
  • Isane
  • Unohana she's not missing I just remembered LOL
  • Yachiru? I didn't see her with Kenpanchi did I miss something?
  • I think I'm missing some Vizards but the change in design due to the time skip for most of them during chapter 385 got me confused me a little

The thing is that Rukia gets shipping power (that sounds weird lol) in the anime, while Orihime in the manga.
It seems I'm not the only one who noticed that.

The only reason I can see behind the final couples is... a sequel? But if that was the case it would be announced by now, so my conclusion is Kubo just wanted to troll everyone... once again?

Forever.

I edited out Unohana because... I remembered (how could I forget???(

And I do remember that part but it was a little bit confusing (maybe it was just me), like, they were fighting and stuff and then

I must say though, re-reading or watching parts of the Soul Society arc with the knowledge that

gives things an entirely different light. I'm willing to believe that not all of it, but parts of these end-game twists existed in Kubo's head way early on.

He was probably also planning several fights that included all of the missing characters and got canned af by Jump

It was pretty obvious when Bleach got canned. Look at Soul King palace bit, the fights with Thor and co were even slower than usual Kubo pace. And then the last chapters rushed so much. I assume those 10 chapters were planned to be spread over at least 30-40 chapters, but now he had to sum them up, which led to a complete mess, might even say the worst 10 chapters in the manga.

As for the epilogue, I do wonder how much of that was Kubo and how much the editors forcing a sequel bait. They can now fire Kubo and pick another author for Bleach 2 just like they did with Boruto. Which is kind of weird, axing one work to force a sequel by a different author. It really sucks for people that were following it for 15 years, and only got treated to a non-ending.

I'm glad that Bleach didn't force as much the ending pairs as Naruto did. Ichigo x Orihime and Renji x Rukia make sense, and no other characters were turned into pairs, while Naruto pretty much coupled EVERY character.

I think adding new characters and leaving it on a cliffhanger is a pretty fitting end for Bleach. Not sure it's popular enough for a real sequel anymore.

However, I'd like to see something new in Jump from Kubo. Something that suits his writing style better, perhaps he could be the man to take on the job of replacing Nisekoi. Doubt he'd feel like putting himself through another 10 years of weekly manga production though (or maybe he would considering he only actually draws half as much as others in the same job).

She sucks but she's cute so it's alright. She's perfect for Hibiki but yeah, not good in general.

If Kubo does make something, I really hope it's not a battle shounen and if it has action, it's as down to Earth as possible. His characters are fun, and the SoL is not too bad.
