Oh yeah we live in the middle of nowhere, it's about a 90 minute round trip to the nearest supermarket and about a 45-50 minute rt to even the nearest small shop. We do live in a very beautiful location, but there's absolutely no facilities near by, no gas, no transport, and we get really wild weather.

I'm from a rural farming family, and a complete country girl at heart so I love it here. My partner is very much a city girl, so it can be a bit strange for her at times, but she loves it here too.

The big problem has been this past year. My partner doesn't drive, and I couldn't drive for months after I was taken in to hospital with my head. We were also in full lockdown and couldn't book a grocery delivery for love nor money. We nearly ran out of food, but obviously we didn't! Delivery slots are thankfully easier to come by now.

The hospital I need for specialist treatment is about a 5 hour round trip away and I can't really drive that far. I love living here so much, but we are probably going to have to move somewhere else in the near future. I've been trying to convince her to learn to drive, but she's so scared of it. I really hope I can convince her before we have to relocate :(

Do you guys grow your own vegetables/fruits or raise any type of animals - chicken eggs- for consumption given where you are located and how far away the closest store is? I'm sure your farming background would be an asset.

Thankfully, you didn't run out of food. Are you close with your neighbors? Could you go to them for help if need be? Is it possible to car pool with them to go get supplies and whatnot?

Yeah, living there may not be practical given all of the circumstances. That's quite the round trip to your specialist. It may be time to move closer to your specialist. Especially, if things are getting worse. Why is your partner afraid of driving? Did she have a bad experience?

No we don't! I'm vegetarian these days, and I won't keep animals becauae I've already killed enough of them in the past, and I really don't think I could do it anymore. Veg is a very good idea though, and I have often thought about it!

Only a couple of people we know nearby drive, and I certainly couldn't ask them to drive all the way to the specialist! I did have to ask friends to bring me home from the hospital though. They take you in by ambulance and don't care if you can get back again 😅

She has a few reasons for not wanting to drive, and I really don't want to force her, but it's just too damn rural here when something happens. I am more worried about her than me tbh. I don't want her stuck here if the worst does happen. I'm hoping once covid is out of the way, that she'll do it :)
