Though Animes tend to take liberties so idk how much that's worth =P
Don't think I've ever seen it in the games.

I mean they also had like regular cows and elephants. But maybe regular animals were the originals and Pokemon are just an invasive species?

That's interesting lol. I think in the games Pokémon are mostly described as they were the animals of that World.

And then there's me trying to find a sense to everything. I think that if well interpreted, gen 4 lore is really consistent. It's one of the reasons why it's my fav gen and those are my fav games.

I don't really play for the lore. It's all just for the gameplay. If I want lore and all that stuff I'll just play any Xeno-game. :P

But to name but one thing.... Cinnabar Island's Volcano.
In GSC / HGSS the erupted Volcano is clearly on the East side of the island:

My fangame tries to be a bit lore-friendly (but the story is not the main focus) while focusing on the battle system 😇

Nintendo has never really been much about these sorts of things. You just have to take a look at the official Zelda timeline. They clearly struggled quite a bit trying to come up with explanations for some games. xD
