Least favorite game AND something you like it for?

So many comments about D/P @_@ sadly I have to agree. I hated how slow the game was in both movement and progression, and saving a lot of data sure as hell angered me. The slow movement was especially shown during Surfing sequences, normal running and DAMNED ROUTE 216/217. Whose brilliant idea was it to put deep snow in an already slow game? Along with that, the Pokedex really was small. Considering I started with Piplup most of the time, I needed something to combat Grass types...all I had in the way of a Fire type was Ponyta. Why, GF, why? Oh well, at least you had Starly. Thank Arceus they fixed the plethora of issues D/P had with Platinum.

At least D/P had things I really liked, such as the Pal Park, the updated contests and the ever loved physical/special split, along with the D/P games being the most compatible games, able to connect to over 15 games. With those came those trade with item evolutions, e.g. Rhyperior, Electivire, Magmortar, Dusknoir. They all came from Pokemon that were already good, but the new evolutions gave them an edge over the rest.

D/P for me, and I think my reasons have been said already. The games are painfully slow; there was about a full second delay during the battle sequences, the introduction is longer than ever, and the surfing...travelling at a dangerously fast two miles a month. I always picked Turtwig, meaning my only way to counter other grass types was with Starly or Ponyta. I felt that, even with the large amount of new pokes, I felt limited on options, since over 10,000,000 of them were evolutions or prevolutions of existing pokes, both good (Gallade, Porygon-Z, Yanmega) and bad (Lickilicky, Probopass [did this thing have to exist?]). All in all, I always got bored when playing this.

The one thing I did like in these games was the physical/special split. This single handedly saved a massive chunk of Pokemon, such as Gyarados and Gengar. We dont have to remember which type is physical and which is special. Still, this great game mechanic still can't save these games.

God bless Platinum.

I guess my least favorite would be Diamond and Pearl. Mostly because of how slow the battles are and how much of a pain grinding is.
But I don't hate the games at all. I still love them. I don't think there's any pokemon game I hate. I love the soundtrack and going underground. I also really love Palkia and Dialga.

Diamond and Pearl for me. It was a generally pretty slow game, and the graphics were just dull and boring. The limited Pokedex was a big issue for me as well. But I don't think these games were entirely bad, I loved the soundtrack (Jubilife <3), the Sinnoh region and the version mascots! The contests were, for me, fun as well - a huge leap from the original R/S/E contests. This is why I like Platinum. It was able to fix the problems of the original pair (well, except for the graphics), added more features and kept/expanded on the things I like about D/P.

Red, Blue, and Yellow for me. They're slow, broken, buggy, and ugly. I'm surprised they can hold themselves together enough to be playable. And the story isn't even that good, even when you don't compare it to later games.

But if we didn't have those games, we wouldn't be on this forum today. I kind of have to (grudgingly) appreciate them for starting the series.

Ruby and Sapphire are probably my least favorites. I came into them feeling fairly upset that my favorite Pokémon (Blastoise) wasn't available at first (had to wait till FRLG), and I didn't like the whole "reboot" element (Gold was my favorite game), nor did I like the abundance of water. However, I suppose it was a big graphical improvement, and gen III introduced some new mechanics that have made the game more interesting over time (e.g., abilities). I also really liked how fast the Mach Bike was.

(That being said, I really enjoyed Emerald; I think the extra features helped, and the ability to send over some Pokémon I liked better to play with made things more fun. Maybe I just don't like gen III Pokémon as much as the ones in gens I and II, or maybe part of it is that once I got over not being able to use my Pokémon from Gold, things got better.)

Black/White are pretty horrendous to me. I really hated the story and the main characters. This isn't a term I usually use but the whole thing was just lame. I really don't know how else to describe it. I found N to be very unlikable and just all around annoying so I really hated when he would come up. Alder came off to me as a really boring and unmemorable champion. I also hated how many times you'll be playing and you're stopped by either your rival, gym leader, N, some other random character. I realize this happens in every game, but I felt like I was being stopped every 20 minutes by a random character.

Honestly I feel like the only thing I really liked in these games were a select few Pokemon and three of the elite four.
