"Meet the PokeCommunity'ers" is a series of the Daily Bloggity in which I have a one-on-one with specific members of PC in which we can get to know them more. All responses are in their own words, and questions were made on a general basis. If you would like to see a specific user in the next edition, comment below! This will be a weekly series appearing in the Daily Bloggity at 5 PM Eastern Time every Sunday.

Mood: Embracing my inner Ron Burgandy
When did you become a member of PokeCommunity and how did you come across it?
I joined in February 2008. I joined Serebii forums at first and when my fan fic wasn't getting much attention, I was told that I might have better luck at Pokecommunity. I was also really into Pokemon Special at the time, so when I heard there were manga scans on this site, that also pulled me in. Not joining for ROM Hacking seems so original. lol
Did you end up finishing your fan fic here on PC?
No, but I had the ending planned. The rest of my fics were oneshots, so they're basically already done.
What is the significance or origin behind your username? Past usernames?
SilverSmeargleSplatter - I liked Silver from the manga (and the color in general), I love Smeargle, and I needed something to go with it so...splatter. Like a paint splatter. Because Smeargle. I hate this name now. lol
Sydian - I was joining a friend's forum to moderate it and needed a "mod" sounding name (SSS wasn't going to cut it, even though I was modded under that name initially). I was also playing Pearl at the time and I hatched a Scyther egg and came up with the name Sydian for it. That's when I realized I had discovered my "mod" name, and I ended up using it here as well. The Scyther is now a Scizor residing in...I think HeartGold. lol
Everlark - Katniss Everdeen. Peeta Mellark. That's all. But it's also a really pretty name. I kinda miss it.
Jak - I have to explain this? Really?! REALLY!? I have an obsession. That is all I need to say.
By your past username of Everlark, I'm assuming that you are a fan of the Hunger Games series? What has your opinion been of the movies thus far, and of the fact that they will be splitting Mockingbird into two movies?
I really love the movies. I actually saw the first one alone because of a miscommunication between who I was going to see it with. I don't recommend watching it alone, haha. But anyway, as far as splitting the third, I don't get the reason. I understand Harry Potter was the first to do it, and it makes sense there. Have you seen the 7th book? Plus, it was already a long and beloved series. Stretching it out was fine. It added one more midnight premier to look forward to. But splitting Mockingjay, which from what I've seen, isn't that long and is apparently the worst entry to the series...I don't really get it. I'm looking forward to it nonetheless!
Which forum do you see yourself gravitating towards the most and why?
Challenges. It's my absolute baby. Erica brought up that a lot of challenges were cropping up in the Pokemon gaming forums and suggested a forum for them all and I volunteered to mod it since I had been doing some of those challenges (including making some back in 2008) and it was going to go under my category anyway. Since then, I've basically built it from the ground up (Erica helped me move threads and Went made some of the stickies, but everything from that point on was me!). All the regulars there are just fantastic. I think it's quite a feat when I can say the biggest issue I have in there is double posting, haha. I rarely ever get hostility from members in there. It's just a nice and relaxing place.
I also go to Video Games a lot. I've loved games since I was a kid, and I really love video game history. I guess it's natural that forum is something I kinda float to.

What would you say your experiences as a Moderator and a Super Moderator have been like so far?
Being a moderator, I think I was all over the place. I've been the "bad" mod, I've been the "good" mod. I've been yelled at by members and I've been praised by members. I've been a thorn in other staff members' sides and I've been admired by other staff members. You get what you give and I'd say I got much more good than bad.
Being a super moderator is, without trying to sound negative but I don't know another way to put it, kind of boring. I'm not saying I hate it, but compared to being a moderator, I'd say it's boring haha. I mean, on its own without being a moderator first (but that's required), I'm sure I would think it's fun, but once you've done both sides of the spectrum it's just like ".......what do i do now."
Being a Super Moderator is boring, huh. What kind of powers do you wish you had which would "spice" up your experience as one?
The power to make my name pink. :3
If you could make any improvement to the site, what would it be and why? If you can't think of anything, what would you like to stay consistent?
I can't really say what I would change honestly, haha. But what I'd like to stay consistent...okay well maybe I shouldn't comment on that so everyone doesn't poke fun at my unwillingness to change (which has gotten better btw!). I'm pretty content with everything as it is right now, honestly. So if that would stay consistent, we'd be golden.
What is your favorite Pokemon and why?
Contrary to popular belief, my favorite Pokemon is Umbreon! I don't think I have much reason for it, though. I pulled a holo one out of a pack of cards as a kid and was instantly like "omg new favorite." Same with when I saw it in Pokemon Stadium 2. Before that, my favorite was Eevee, so it made sense haha.
If you were granted a wish and could wish for anything - besides more wishes and more genies - what would you wish for and why?
Money. :( I have to pay for college this next year and I'm changing my major to something that can just get me out quicker. What a sad life I'm going to lead, lol.
You're changing majors? What are you changing majors into? And what was the reason behind changing your major?
I actually don't know, but I'm considering game development...but still not sure, because as much as I'd love to work with video games in my career, actually making them I don't think I'd be good at. I am changing because I have no motivation to become a teacher anymore and I still can't get into the college of education.

What is your favorite video game or series and why?
Pokemon is my absolute favorite. It seems like a cop out answer since this is a Pokemon forum, but I mean...it just always has been. It's something I was able to beat and do whatever I wanted. I could raise a team of my favorites or all Fire types. I could grow berries or play in contests. I could just do whatever with my party. When the real world was beating down on me, I could just pull out my GBA and go to Hoenn where I actually had the power to solve the issues of that world. I don't know. Pokemon's just always been there for me, really.
Who is your favorite video game character and why?
Gonna sound like another cop out, but this one goes to Jak. Jak is like me. He starts off quiet, but curious and mischievous, reminiscent of my beginnings here on PC. In the second game, he gets more of a personality and because of what he's endured for two years, he's rude, he's mean, he's just damn unpleasant. It reminds me of my time as a moderator. I wasn't nearly that bad, but I did have a time where I was just unpleasant. But like Jak, I got through it and learned from it. Then I gotbanished to the desert[/i] promoted to smod for my hard work and dedication here. Jak got his redemption as well in the third game. And the logo is orange...lol.
Jak's story is similar to my story, and it goes beyond just my story here on PC as well. People hate my username being Jak it seems, but I honestly think it's the most fitting for this reason.
What would you say is your dream vacation?
I'm not big on traveling, so I'm not really sure. :( Wherever my boyfriend wants to go? Haha.
Who is your favorite artist/song?
My favorite artist is Kings of Leon!! I saw them live this year too omg. ;o; It was like a dream come true.
What would you say is your favorite TV or cartoon to watch as a kid?
I think my favorite as a kid was Rugrats and Hey Arnold. More Rugrats than the latter though haha.
Outside of PokeCommunity, what are your favorite hobbies? What interests you?
Video games. ;o; And...more video games. My boyfriend is interesting. And I like music. I also really love clothes and dressing up nice, but I work all the time and don't get the chance to dress up except for like...one day a week haha.

How did you and your boyfriend meet?
We met in marching band. He transferred from a school in Georgia for the better music program and they recommended he do marching band to get to know more people. I'm glad he did! <3
