Sorry, but I'm not about to argue about who's better between the freaking ANCESTOR of pokemon, and some shnuck who was given a random storyline. Besides, if he was the "Creator of the universe", wouldn't you think he would be in the first pokemon games?
Makes no sense.

Mew owns. Done. If you wanna complain about Arceus, give him a movie so I can see this "Awesomeness".
 
I never really liked Arceus. Mew is better and cuter. Arceus is just some weird goat or something.
 
Arceus hands down. Mew lacks power in comparison to Arceus.
 
Ehh...I still take mew. He can learn ANY MOVE. PERIOD. If he wanted to use judgement, he could.

I'll admit, arceus is cool because of the plate idea, but Mew takes the win. Besides, I STILL don't see his movie.
 
Arceus is stronger than mew statwise. Mew is stronger than Arceus cuteness and nostalgia-wise. Arceus is actually the 'original one' who created every pokemon out there and Mew is believed to be the ancestor of all pokemon as it contains every pokemon's gene.The result is that I can't choose between those two!

Your wish is granted my friend! Arceus is going to appear in the 12th pokemon movie titled Pokemon:Arceus-to the conquering of space-time in japanese. Now after seeing this you can tell their awesomeness apart can't you?

Legend has it that Heatran was born from the flames of a volcano when Dialga, Palkia and their relatives first created the universe. The lava from it pooled together to become Heatran. (info taken from bulbapedia).
 
Though they appear to be similar when you first see them, there back stories are different. Arceus created the world, which included creating Mew.

Mew was the original Pokémon (other than Arceus) who gave the original genes for Pokémon. He proceded to breed and as anyone who knows what evolution is (in the real world, not the Pokémon kind) his original DNA slowly changed into loads of different species.

Though I prefer Mew.
 
I prefer mew a lot more than Arceus.There are too many Sinnoh legendaries and i think Arceus is a cheap ripoff of Mew.PLus anyone whos seen Lucario and the mystery of Mew will know that mew can change into any pokemon it wants, so it could just turn into a stronger form of Arceus anyway lol:)

But I don't see why Arceus wasn't given in the original games? Creator of the universe? That screams 1st game appearence.

I agree completely with you! But I think that as they thought about Arceus later it was featured later. When the first games were made Satoshi tajiri was not so famous as suggested by the following:

Tajiri always thought that Nintendo would reject his game, as the company did not really understand the concept at first. However, the games turned out to be a complete success, something Tajiri and Nintendo never expected, especially because of the declining popularity of the Game Boy.(taken from wikipedia)

Tajiri just made the games as he liked insects and wanted to do something different. He probably didn't thought of making a pokemon god at that time as he just wanted the games to be successful and thus couldn't have thought Arceus at that time. If you understand what I mean! (TAJIRI WAS AFRAID THAT NINTENDO WOULD REJECT POKEMON RED/GREEN!!!!!)

Personally I can't stand Psychic types because I find them very annoying so I'll have to go with Arceus it can become a Ghost type but than again it can also be a Psychic type, (which I will never make it into one)

In my opinion, they're both odd, Mew is some sort of naked mole rat-cat thing, while Arceus is a goat/wheel. I think I'll go with Mew, since it looks better, though in a fight, it'd be obvious who would win.

Also, Mew does not have Porygon's genes. (Though this is mainly because Porygon does not have genes and is made out of a programing code of sorts made tangible through advanced scientific means blah blah blah ext.)
 
Mew is the very first legendary, therefore he beats Arecus in all categories.

He can legally learn any move (except chatter and struggle I believe )

Seriously tho, Arceus = God. Mew = Adam / Eve
You could think of mew being the mother of all pokemon
Whereas Arceus created Mew itself
Mew bred, and gave birth
And pokemon evolved and began to adapt to enviornments, etcetera etcetera yaddayaddayadda

Point being

Mew and Arceus aren't the same
Mew is not the creator, Arceus is
 
I like mew a lot better. I don't really like Arceus at all for some reason...
 
Mew sucks (You can disagree, okay?) because it isn't a Pokemon God.
Arceus is the one who creates all Pokemon Hand Crafted. It's the first Pokemon Being in the uninverse. Nothing can beat the crap out of it. Nothing. I repeat, nothing, especially a Pokemon Being.
 
Hmmm... I dont know. Mew is cool and is the original but it was kinda annoying in the movie... I'll make my decission after I've seen the latest one with arceus in it.
