My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic

Nobody's afraid to say it, everyone in the world loves ponies.

I haven't, but I'd totally be afraid to say it because that situation is like a waving flag for trololols everywhere. And nothing is more annoying than a bunch of bad trolls putting on a show they assume everyone else thinks is funny. Bad trolls. Very bad trolls.

Mainly because not only is the show associated with a level of femininity not commonly associated with even me, but because it's also associated with younger audiences.

I don't watch it and I'm not afraid to say it. In fact, I'm also not afraid to say the show looks (IN MY OPINION, "like to catch you by the balls" people) super retarded or at least for 3 year old girls who still dream of prince charming. Also people seem to really like it here so I'll might as well add that for me, they look like justin beiber fans.
Now people will say I'm a troll for going against something popular, hahahahahaha.
(I do hope this doesn't offend but yeah that's my honest opinion)

So, you say you're extreme.. nah, not taking it that far. So, you're saying you're very feminine?

You shouldn't judge a book by its cover. :/
Isn't that one of the most important things you learn in life?

From what you've written there, you're making really extreme assumptions, and you haven't even watched it, or at least watched it without bias. IMO, it's far, far better than the 90's version. It reminds me of late 90s and early millennium cartoons which were actually amusing because of their zaniness, as opposed to trying to be cool or funny by pandering to stereotypes or by being stupidly random, like certain cartoons my siblings watch that I'd like to mention. Actually no... stupidly random is good, but it's old, and there's a certain je ne sais quoi to those shows that pull it off well.

All that aside, one thing's for sure. It is excellent trollbait...

Nope, not a troll, just very unnecessarily rude. People who don't like MLP for the most part don't give many legitimate reasons, just a lot of excuses not to try the show whatsoever, and sometimes throw in a few jabs at the fans. Even before I watched the show and started enjoying it, I had a lot of respect for MLP fans - imagine the self-confidence it must take to admit to your friends that you're a perfectly manly man who just happens to enjoy watching ponies. I mean it's enough for me that my boyfriend and family make fun of me for watching it, plus people like you that insult the show and the people that watch it, plus the people that mean well but just don't understand why anyone could watch it. Anyone who keeps up with ponies at that rate is a hero, especially a male.

Anyway, TheChickenMonkey, the people that love MLP can be mostly found here. You're more than welcome to join and talk about ponies. I think right now they're discussing fanfictions, iirc. :3

It's a surprisingly good show. Silly, but not so silly that it becomes nonsense. Positive and sweet, but not a sugar-coated educational cartoon. I think people like that it's fun and honest. I do anyway. So many things try to be cool and edgy and that really gets boring after a while.

I have never seen it, so I may give it a try in secret. It must be very interesting if it has such a huge following among people who you think would avoid this.

Never watched it but it looks really feminine, so I probably won't watch it.
Seen a lot of people on the internet take interest in it, but they were all girls of course.

Really? The majority of FiM fans that I know of are male. Heard of the term "bronies"? That's the term given to the mostly adult male fans of the show found all over the Internet. (I think the percentage of males aged 18 - 24 who took a survey months ago was 73%.) It might depend on where you go on the Internet, but the biggest pony websites are dominated by males, who are rather glad that this pony show breaks through stereotypes. Because it's not all PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINK like previous incarnations.

To answer the OP's question, yes I am a brony and I'm not afraid to admit it...on the Internet. In real life, I keep it a secret. In part because I doubt the people I know in real life have an interest in the show. In part because of reactions like some of the ones given in this thread.

That said, come join the herd in the MLP: FiM Fan Club in Other Clubs. We always enjoy new bronies adding to our discussions!

I am sorry to say that a person my age has seen the show. And you know what's even sadder? I actually liked it in some ways. It just has that campy, cute, 80's cartoon feel to it. Maybe it helps that it airs before that Jem show, another cartoon that aired along with Classic Transformers and Classic G.I. Joe.

God, I feel old.

I like MLPFiM, but I don't love it like most people who remotely like seem to. It's a kids TV show that doesn't make you want to slit your wrists in agony, has fully developed characters with different quirks and idiosyncracies, doesn't talk down to its audience (apart from the occasional message to Princess Celestia) and has exceptional animation. For my money, it's probably the best kids animation on TV at the moment, now that SpongeBob has descended - Simpsons style - into a giant heap of sub-mediocrity.

It's a brilliant, brilliant show. People just tend to judge it automatically because of it's reputation with the previous generations. It's one of the few shows where the characters have personality. The animation is fantastic, and each episode always has something to keep you watching. Anyway, with the topic on hand, no, I'm not too afraid. On the internet and in real life as well. I've pretty much told my family and all of my friends about it, and have even converted a few people. xDD;;
My sister still gives me crap for watching it, but I don't really care. o3o
My parents were neutral about it, surprisingly.
As for my friends, they were all shocked at first. Very shocked.
But yeah, seriously. If someone's going to bag something, they might as well try it out first before saying anything.

I have first discovered this show when a youtuber was favoriting the episodes. Curious, I decided to take a look at it myself and I really like this show. I may not have been familiar with the classic cartoon shows, but I have seen advertising for MLP toys in the past. Anyway, I am still watching the episodes and I really enjoy it.

I've only yet watched some of the original 80s series and the Rescue from Midnight Castle special, but FiM is on my list of things to get on with whenever.

This. It's a lot better than most cartoons these days- Ben 10, Johnny Test, ugh they all sucked. This, with Chowder, Flapjack and the Regular Show are like gems in the rough.

I watch MLP: FiM and I like it for the reasons Scarf stated previously. It's silly, but it's so silly that it's nonsense.

Also, I like the fact it's not as feministic as it's predecessors. That MLP: FiM is geared for no audience in particular, which explains why so many guys like the show.

Also, I like Rainbow Dash.

I watched an episode of Friendship is Magic. Compared to the past generations, I didn't like it that much.
I really liked Generation 1. I've never seen Generation 2, and Generation 3 was okay.

I agree.
