As Midnight Beat and I were discussing on the first page, I don't think supporters who have not reached the Tier 3 status should have any say in the matter. This is our prerogative because we have donated "x" amount of money to the community. If they wish to be part of such discussions, they will just have to donate more. However, I do believe a PM should be sent to all Tier 3+ Donators; that sounds like a good idea.

In contrast, if there's a colour picked that they don't want, they may be discouraged to ever donate more. Not to mention choosing pink is going to turn off a good portion of potential male candidates. Tier 2+ should be able to have their say, because they all have the privilege of having a coloured username.

But then again, the purple would too. :|

Also, I don't see why it matters what color we have as long as we get the satisfactions of a newb PMing us thinking we are staff.

And can I change my vote from pink to the dark orange/red?

But unlike purple (being a darker shade and what even the Administrators have at the moment), pink is widely known and stereotyped as a colour representing femininity. At most, we don't want to deter any male users from donating because the fact that they wouldn't be granted a gender neutral coloured username is a big put-off alone. It would be fair for all supporters if they were given the privilege of a more androgynous colour.

I suppose I can understand the logic behind that. However, shouldn't they also be entitled to view the VIP Forum, then? I consider this as the most "official" business we're going to see here and if they have a say in that, why not be able to see the rest of the boards?
Just throwing my opinions on the table...

Well, this was my original argument. I personally don't see pink as a gender-neutral color and therefore, voted against it. However, many members seem to think that it is; and who am I to question them? Even though I agree with you, and would rather not have pink, I would accept it. I feel that most current supporters would do the same. As for the potential supporters, I can see the pink username as a hinderance. Many male members will no longer care about the other perks of being a Supporter if it means they have to lug around a pretty pink username.
(And really, the new supporter's are the one's giving the community 'fresh' money.)

These, however; are just some opinions of mine.

Just pointing out that the Coloured User Name is one of the main "perks". If it becomes pink, it not only means they have to weigh up the benefits, but they are sort of losing a major one.

Look, they're so close at the moment, it'll probably result in a tie...

What happens then? If there is a tie, do we just stick to purple?

No, they'll create a new poll with the two colors that tied. Then the winner of that poll will be the new color.

What I meant to say, is what if the second poll ties?

XD; Well I seriously doubt that would happen. There are 13 people that didn't vote for either pink or orange. The chances of a tie in that poll are like.....really low.

I just like it as it is, but if I have to choose otherwise it'd be #3A70B9.

ps, Midnight Beat, now will you leave me be about it? :P

With all the fuss in the past about pink yet it still being a popular choice, why not let us have a choice as supporters between 2 colors?

I think that was discussed before, actually. The problem with that is it would cause mass confusion among those members who are out of the loop when it comes to the supporter news. IE: Everyone not who's not a staff and or a supporter. Also, it wouldn't be fair that we could choose between two colors when not even the staff can do so.

Pink is honestly one of my favourite colours right now but I could never vote it in as a colour for staff or supporters. It's just such a charged colour--while lots of people love it, like any other colour, there's a much higher amount of people who hate it. Moreso than almost any other colour, I would say. :( As much as I'd love to have pink as the supporter colour, I just don't want to alienate people. I want what's best for PC (people WILL be deterred from donating if they despise the colour), not just what I want. As for two colours... Midnight Beat sums up my thoughts fairly well.

Anyway, I'm thinking maybe the poll should go down come September and the top 3 or 4 choices or so will go into Q&F so that all supporters can vote on the final colour. I agree that everyone should have a say, but I don't think it should've been in there from the start. :) This definitely isn't the final poll and I'm glad that this forum could be used to narrow down the choices.

I think moving the final vote in september would be a great idea, especially since I haven't seen a new vote on this poll in a number of weeks. But I also agree with Erica about the colour pink. While I have no problem at all with pink, it will deter some potential donators, However I believe that it should be up to the staff to decide whether or not to include it on the final poll that all supporters can vote on.
(I also believe it was I that originally brought up the option for having a 2 color choice, but I understand the logic behind why we shouldn't when the staff can't, as well as the logistic behind setting it up. whew)

Yes a final vote will be a great idea. Just put in the colors that is close of in the poll. I think it will be better results.

Yeah pink is a nice color, but I really don't want anyone to get afraid to donate in the future. So I guess pink is out. It is probably will make in the final, but I think this time everyone will pick what is best in this forum.

Just a though: but we could give all supporters a choice between a couple of colors. And they could change in between colors ever few months, similar to the name change.

That way those who want pink could have it, and those who want another color could also have it. Perhaps we could have the choice between the current top three votes.

Okay, official announcement here.

There will only be one colour.

The problem with letting you guys pick your own colour is that there are a lot more supporters than any other coloured group on PC. So it's really hard to find a colour that everyone can agree with. While I agree a logical solution could be to have several colours and let the supporters choose, that's just not going to happen. We toyed with the idea back when the moderators wanted pink, ages ago, and decided it was too much of a hassle. As some of you may know, a lot of members are still confused over the ranks. Some think supporters are admins, some can't tell mods from s-mods from admins, and some just think all those with a coloured name are staff. Adding TWO colours for ONE usergroup? That would be chaos. Not only would everyone have to deal with confusion over usergroups, but we'd have to make 10 usergroups for the supporters. That's a lot of clutter in the admin CP. Finally, we have a lot of coloured usergroups and I personally feel that having one more, without a good reason (no, getting your favourite colour isn't a good reason), is just overkill. We've already got a pretty decent rainbow going on over on the who's online section. That's honestly enough.
