Imagine you get the chance to decide the types the starters of the next Pokemon Game should be.
Since the whole Fire/Water/Grass thing seems to be a bit overdone, you decide to go with 3 other types!
Of course they have to follow the same mechanic; Water > Fire > Grass > Water. And you may as well repeat one of these types.

Which types would you pick and why??

Me for example, i always thought Dark > Psychic > Fighting would be perfect, since they are some of my favorite types!

    Flying > Fighting > Rock

because that's the only combination I can think of off the top of my head haha. I think it'd be cool though. Add some interesting secondary types for combos like Fairy-Flying, Ghost-Fighting, and Electric-Rock or something like that, idk.

    Water > Dragon > Steel

I guess I chose those, due to favoritism :P
Gamefreak must have chosen grass, water, and fire, due to the standard elements of earth

Electric > Water > Ground could be an idea, though it's a bit unfair for Electric not having any effect at all on Ground while Ground can attack Water without a drawback, from what I recall (might be wrong, haha).

Fighting > Dark > Psychic is actually the best trio I've heard of, apart from the standard element-inspired one. It's actually been used, with Greninja being Water/Dark, Delphox being Fire/Psychic and Chesnaught being Grass/Fighting. I do think they should have switched the typings around a bit on the pokémon species though, to make it a bit like in 4th gen. Torterra had a second type that could counter Infernape's fire, Infernape's Fighting type could hit Empoleon's Steel. Instead of making each pokémon extra weak to the one it's already weak against.

The only other balanced type triangle other than grass/fire/water is flying/rock/fighting so that wins by default.

dark's psychic immunity (as opposed to resistance) breaks the balance of the fighting/psychic/dark triangle, and the other triangles in this thread are either all defense or all offense. :/
