Nintendo, isn't stupid.... PSP is capturing some of the market whether you want to believe it or not. And I believe the GBE is going to be used to capture that lost market share.

The Micro is a pure example of how Nintendo is branding the Gameboy brand to hip more teenage audiences. I have yet to see one of ad for the new micro with someone who wasn't a teenager or in their early 20's.

When I speculated that the GBE could play GCN I didn't mean that they would focus on it, because frankly GCN doesn't have a lot of teen geared games nor does the GCN software would have any compatibility either.

I was merely speculating on the size of the disc, and what they could do with it ;P (kind of like any new GCN game AFTER the GBE's release could be played on both formats perhaps).

Nintendo likes innovation, but as you (if you are watching properly) notice they are focusing more on the casual *hip/trendy* gamer and no longer the hardcore gamer (i.e Revolution).

Video Games to most females is like a total bore, and nothing worth their time. Same with a lot of guys who aren't really into games other than like Madden. But Nintendo wants to change this...

Just remeber by the new look of the Revolution, Nintendo is gearing all it's new systems to have resemblence in style to the iPod.

You're completely right~ the PSP did capture some of the market. 26% I believe. So...that leaves Nintendo with 76% percent of the market, and that's where they'll have to settle. You can't have one of your more popular competitors launch a portable and expect to stamp them out by re-releasing better versions of old products. And also, no matter how great the GBE is, there'll still be that margin of Sony fanboys who'll lap up anything PS branded.

But really, I don't think we need to get hyped about the GBE. Because it's a loooooong way off. First on Nintendo's portable agenda is releasing a better version of the DS, which is an absolutely stupid idea =] Get it right the first time~ or I'll stop buying your products! I'm going to email their PR people some day .-.

Are you sure the GBE is going to use discs? <_< Nintendo has a love-affair with cartridges. N64, the whole GB line, DS, and I really don't see them changing that. Even when the PSX read discs...did that mean they wanted to compete with their new console [64] having discs? No... And even in the current generation, they didn't use the DVD capabilities that Sony and Microsoft embraced. They used an utterly useless mini-disc, although it was harder to copy. Yay for stopping illegal burning! @_@;

Nintendo getting with the trends is evident, I'll give you that. But I severly wish they'd just keep up with Sony and Microsoft...none of this "alternate gaming" crap. Yeah, the Revolution's controller absolutely PWNS the PS3 and 360...but it's not going to be the same gaming experience. Unless they come up with a really great controller shell <_<;

Honestly, I'm not sure what shape the GBE will even be. They've gone vertical, they've gone horizontal, they've gone clamshell, and they've gone majorly conservitive. What's next? You'd have to think that it'll be pretty crazy, however it looks. But I say that with hope. Because obviously the Rev's controller is crazy. But it kicks butt.

I <3 how the DS looks. I <3 how the Rev looks. I <3 how the GBM looks. I won't contest the fact that Nintendo evidently hired teen designers to make their products fit in with teens who want to play in public. Kudos to Nintendo.

Anyways, I think this post came off as ripping on Nintendo. Truth is though, I love Nintendo. So don't get the wrong impression XD It's why I'm Co-Owner of this club ;D

Gaah big posts. Well if GBE is to recapture money stolen by PSP, Nintendo better have some decent amount of games along with the GBE. But yeah, it IS a very long way away.

Discs for GC and GCR.
Carts and all for EVERYTHING else.

Three screens. Now that's insane. Wait, I can seriously imagine a TS like that. Triple Screen, made in the old Pokedex like form. One flippy side has two screens, and the other has all the buttons with one big screen. Awesome.

Ehh I like the idea of calling it the Nintendo Nano DS ;P *thinks it will be a possible name*

I believe they either made their systems too much of the basis of the Micro or the DS itself.

Ehh I hope for a more scratch resistant screen, and I would hope for a analog stick addition (I *despise* the default control stick thingy XD)

yes.... Analog sticks are essential for all the games I've ever played, to give them more control. Then again, the only games i've played are MKDS and SM64DS....(my family's poor, okay?)

Hey no problem, poor or not poor video games are video games and those two are two of my favorite games =)

You might see yourself as not so finanically stable, but you still love the games and that is all the matters =)

I think it would be cool if they did it like that gyro thing where it is like a built in angalog stick you just move your thumb around this little area to move.

(i.e the thing on a labtop ;P)

That is a good idea but theoretically developers could choose to put that on DS games if they wanted to via the touchscreen but I guess it would be better if they made something especially for that so it would work better.

Other ideas I've been hearing is a trackball, I don't know how that would work but I would like to be one of those testers so I could see for myself.

*laughs at Andy's stupidity for falling for the fake body/no brain trick*

n00b XDDDD anyhoo, Nintendo likes to be innovative and you ONCE AGAIN are not getting that Nintendo has switched gears. It wants to now make systems that look like a hip accessory, and the sooner you realize it than the sooner you realize that they are not going to pick a DS looking clone XD

I agree with Arcanine, that DS pwns all the others but where did the mic go? xd

Wait, I see it, it should b on the lower screen or somewhere closer to the original position.

I like how the top screen flips out and it's kind of still like the clamshell design so you could flip the screen face down covering the touch screen when not in use or to put it in stand-by mode.

Stop jacking yourself up by trying to put others down, Blaze. It's getting really old.

Nintendo never really has been in style. The PSP pwns the DS on looks. The PS2 looks better then the GC. The Mirco is too freaken small (it is way too small) for it's own good. And so on, sure they might by shooting for older people (late teens early 20s), but as soon as they start making crappy "hip accessories" is when I stop buying Nintendo and only go with Sony and maybe Microsoft. I don't want some stupid looking "hip accessory". I want a game system not a fashion statement.
