Noboady made a separate thread?? Gosh.

There's a few things I am missing but others can pick up the scraps. Okay so adding in direct stuff to what was already known (from an Australian perspective)...
    - hyrule warriors demo today
    - pokken this month
    - star fox in april 22nd, may consider getting that pending on further info but seems decent
    - FIRE EMBLEM in may 20th finally
    - MONSTER HUNTER GENERATIONS middle of the year
    - Paper Mario (even when it sucks it's still decent imo!) sometime in the year! Want to see more info on exp, partners and story as those were the main problems for Sticker Stars thanks to executive meddling.
    - New kirby game that actually interests me
    - new pokemon and LoZ wii u around the end of year

Add in some SNES and Rhythm Paradise, metroid fed force (?? cautiously interested in it), a million indie games as well... busy year ahead.

Ah shoot, I already explained my overall thoughts on the Direct at the DCC. Of course, I forget to mention about SMT x FE on my previous post, so I'll start off with that. This game better not get a low user score despite how good of a game it may actually be, or else I'll lose all faith in the western video game community and their ever-growing hate towards anime-influenced games. I remember this youtube user by the name of RRPGgamer who expressed how he's gotten tired of traditional Kirby games because of their staleness (he enjoys non-traditional Kirby games like Epic Yarn and Rainbow Curse more), so I fear he'll also won't feel excited for this other new traditional Kirby game. The new Rhythm Heaven game coming to the U.S. was as expected, but because we got no Chorus Men in Smash 4 according to the Gematsu leak, this game may not get as much free advertisement like Fire Emblem Fates with the Corrin DLC.

Paper Mario and Kirby are the major ones for me. I would get excited for SNES on 3DS, but I lack a New. I was pretty disappointed in the lack of anything new in the Pokken footage. All they did was tell us about fighting styles on characters we already know are in the game.

Oh darn, was gonna let the DCC twinkle and shine abit, but since this is happening...

    Spoiler:

One thing I didn't mention among the other things I probably didn't mention, the SNES stuff. I was glad to hear that, and honestly that this is being added now makes me think that, with their lack of GBA VC and the small, steady stream of releases, they'll probably end up supporting the 3DS for a good long while. Maybe. I'm curious to see where they'll go with all this.

There was a point during which the chat kept spamming "Melee HD", and for some reason I thought it had been announced for one of the other countries, and was still expecting it up until the very end of the Direct.

Even though it wouldn't have made any sense at all.

MONSTER HUNTER GENERATIONS. That's the highlight. Bushido Switch Axe, come to me!

Dragon Quest VII is going to be pretty great. Already getting Bravely Second. TMS#FE confirmed for release on June 24, for both NA and EU, that's cool.

Pokken looks nice. Interest for the new Kirby has piqued a little. Vaguely curious in the new Paper Mario.

I forgot about mentioning the Kirby amiibo line. I hope this doesn't mean they'll discontinue the Meta Knight and Dedede Smash amiibos, because I still to get those along with 6 other Smash amiibos.

I didn't think it warranted a separate thread, haha.

But yeah, all I really took away from it was Medli in Hyrule Warriors Legends, alongside four mystery DLC packs. Considering how fantastic the support for Hyrule Warriors was, I have high expectations for this new content. Being able to play on my Wii U if I feel like it is an added bonus, too.

Very disappointed by a lack of DQVII news; I was hoping for a proper release date. I don't care about Fire Emblem, but my mother is ecstatic, so I've got to keep half an eye on websites that might offer the special edition, which I am almost certain is going to be £89.99 or more...the things I do. Monster Hunter Generations will probably be nice, but I should probably play MH4U for longer than five minutes first. xD

I'm also going to cross my fingers for some decent new VC titles for N3DS. Secret of Mana at the very least; I'm itching to play that again. I'm hoping SNES titles means that te N3DS might eventually get GBA titles too or something.

Me before the Direct: A new Paper Mario for the WiiU!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait. Is he... grabbing a sticker....

...oh. if it was going to be a new Sticker Star instead of a Paper Mario, they should have said so... I think I'll stay away from this...

Kirby was my highlight. I wasn't expecting it at all, so that turned the Direct in a definite positive for me.

Ever since (IMO) Epic Yarn they managed to add or put a spin on the formula that makes each adventure enjoyable without breaking the base too far. This is looking to be one of those times. I'm more happy that from RtDL, Triple Deluxe and now this it's the triple header of Kirby excellence.

Oh, one thing I found amusing that they devoted so much time to that I'm going to comment on - because I don't think anyone else will - is their little Metroid Prime: Federation Force spiel. I'll give the guy points for trying...I almost feel sorry for him, trying to pitch one of the most hated Nintendo titles in recent years as something that "definitely belongs in the Prime universe" or whatever it was he said.

I think, had this been pitched as anything other than a Metroid title, people might have been quite receptive of it, because it hasn't been presented THAT badly. The style is a little hit-or-miss, but it looks and sounds as though they've put some real thought into the design. I think this will be substantially better than Triforce Heroes, which was an unmitigated disaster. But I think just because it's supposed to be Metroid that it's going to get slammed to hell and back (well, more so than it currently is) when it finally DOES come out.

Funny, how a brand can work against a game sometimes. But then, in most cases, there are alternatives to crappy spinoffs...in Metroid's case, we've been starved of a proper instalment in the franchise since Corruption (yes, I am deliberately ignoring Other M) and getting this thing is a real kick in the teeth.

...but, whatever. I'm definitely not going to buy it. Nothing has changed there. xD

Hyrule Warriors for the 3DS. Finally my other hand held hack and slasher other than SW Chronicles and Senran Kagura. I apologize for reading kinda late.

Regarding HWarriors for the 3DS, I'm curious on how they are going to make it work. Then again, we had SW Chronicles and those games had a respectable performance in terms of the bodycounts.

I think the reason Federation Force is getting so much backlash is because it doesn't explicitly focus on Samus. That's right - it's because the fans want fanservice. Traditionally, all Metroid games released focus on Samus in some aspect, but this time they're deviating from that formula, which fans don't seem to like.

And I've seen a couple of Metroid fans who are welcoming Federation Force in open arms for expanding the Metroid Prime universe that doesn't revolve around Samus. Remember all this talk about games being nothing but rehashes and not getting out of their comfort zones? Federation Force is that kind of game, and those same people who are asking for change ended up bashing this game to death to the point where petitioning it to get it cancelled or boycotting it would result in the demise of the Metroid series, or at least the Prime sub-series, due to lack of sales. The same is happening with the new Paper Mario game.

I think that's definitely part of it, although the fact that it deviates massively from the Metroid formula in terms of prioritising shooting everything that moves over exploration - which was a huge part of the Prime series' appeal in particular - probably rubs people the wrong way a lot, too.

Multiplayer has never been a huge thing in Metroid, and it definitely feels out of place, especially without Samus in it to remind us that it's set within the same universe. Unless you do a ton of external reading, the entire concept is pretty under-developed, too: the Federation has never had what you might call a major role in the games. It all feels very half-arsed, even though it looks as though a fair bit of thought has gone into its design. It's just...not Metroid. It's a random multiplayer shooting capitalising on its success. But then, you could say the same of most spinoff titles.

Can't wait for MH Generations. I own the Japanese version and had a blast. Can't wait to (finally) hunt with my friends with the western release.

I'm not happy that the Paper Mario title looks like it's following in Sticker Star's footsteps. The fact that it's being classified as "action-adventure" rather than RPG is a big no for me as well. Then again, I haven't been happy with the direction the series has taken since TTYD, and I liked Paper Mario better than Mario and Luigi, so I'm sad that there doesn't seem to be a Paper Mario RPG series anymore, complete with partners, characters that aren't all just generic red toads, battles with experience points, an interesting story, and more (well, I can't judge the story on this one yet, but the rest of it doesn't look too promising). I don't actually own a Wii U at this point, but with rumors of a new Paper Mario, I had planned on getting one if the game returned to the 64/TTYD style (and then I could pick up other games that seem intriguing, but aren't system sellers for me, like Pokken). I guess I'll wait and see if anything else catches my interest. I'm in a situation where I don't have anyone to play local multiplayer with, and I can rarely play console games online (network issues), so I need a compelling single player experience from either a series I love or several that seem intriguing to make the system worth purchasing for me, and I just haven't seen that yet.

I would like to see a new Zelda title, although at this point, I would probably prefer it to be an NX release title than a Wii U one (or a split title, like TP). The Kirby thing looks mildly intriguing; I'll keep an eye on it. I only saw clips from the Direct and heard about a couple of titles, so I don't know how I feel about other games at this point. Mainly excited about new Pokemon releases towards the end of the year.

The same is happening with the new Paper Mario game.

The same is happening with the new Paper Mario game because Nintendo tried this formula before and it failed (Sticker Star). I was excited for Sticker Star. Was the first 3DS game I bought, way before X/Y were even released. Got to the 2nd area of the game and got stuck because I had no more stickers, and no more money to buy more stickers with.

The biggest mistake they made with Sticker Star wasn't the stickers (at least, in my opinion), it's the fact that there was no unlimited basic jump/hammer stickers. If there was unlimited basic jump/hammer stickers, I could have thrown myself against the next challenge until I got more special move stickers or money for special move stickers.

Instead, I had no stickers left, and stopped playing because I truly could not perform any more attacks.

Now, if Color Splash fixes this issue, and makes it so you can't get stuck because you ran out of cards (the stickers of this game), then I'll be the first to buy it (my first Wii U game purchase since, oh Mario Kart 8), and apologize to Nintendo.

I'm okay with the lack of an RPG leveling experience. I'm okay with the lack of partners. I'm not okay with brick walls. I didn't avoid Super Paper Mario because it changed the formula. To be honest, I avoided it because I was playing other things at the time.

I can't speak on Federation as I'm not a fan of the Metroid Prime series, but the lack of Samus wouldn't stop me from purchasing a copy, even if I was. My favorite Halo game, Halo: Reach, didn't have Master Chief in it, and that is one of, if not my absolute, favorite Halo game.

People need to be fans of franchises, not characters.
