They might be good considering the money they make and/or the people who enjoy playing their game. They do make family-friendly games, nicer designs, etc. But my point of view is that of neutral observer, who is not influenced by their products.
The main reason why they are making money is the fact that, over many years of experience, they had found out somewhat repetitive method for marketing their famous/important characters by their games with little bit modifications in plots, concepts here and there. And since famous characters are coming back with new twist, hence naturally the people who like them go to buy the new games. I think BDSP is accurate example of it. It has not much difference from original D/P/Pt, with the only new being better graphics and items usage. Still people went ahead bought the game.
The same thing can be explained by Fire Emblem: Engage. They brought all the famous icons from their old games in terms of Emblem forme, because the names like Marth, Ike, Hector, etc. were famous characters in their old games, and added the change in plot by including new region and Alear. And this is the reason why people spend money in their gambling-sort of game known as Fire Emblem Heroes, because that game brings the same old famous characters in new outfits, weapons, etc. and people go crazy for them.
Their other famous games can also be explained by this. They are just making remake of their iconic games with some modifications, and people are buying their games because they liked those characters in old games.
Nintendo provides support to few countries, hence in case like ours, using their services is not possible as we need to import the items from different region(s). Naturally, why would I spend money to buy Nintendo Switch, if I can get Samsung Handset in that much price, or Playstation if I add few more amount ? If I use that much amount on an average laptop, then I can turn it into powerful workstation. Ideally speaking, according to me, buying their products is like "one-trick pony" for me, where I can only use their consoles for playing few games, despite the fact that the amount costs as much as an above-average handset. Spending $300-350 just for playing the game is not a good deal for an average person.
Another strategy which they utilize is attacking people's FOMO via releasing Special editions and/or Amiibo figurines, etc. So that they can grab easy money by them. And people often fell for these lures easily.
Hardware quality is below par for the price we are paying.
And since they are big corporation, hence we cannot expect to get genuine and acceptable support from them, apart from their known issues and common fixes. If they would have been indie creators, then the things would have been different.
Although they have few positives as well, that's why they are famous, but I am not amused by it, and hence my views are to criticize them, as I am hindered to avail their services due to various reasons.
