I saw the PokeSpe Arc sets at the con yesterday. I'd collect them if I didn't have space and travel issues.

7 is a lot in one go holy crap. I generally only buy 3 or 4 at a time, myself.

I normally go to the bookstores at a monthly basis. If it were weekly, I'd probably buy 3-4 in one go.

Indonesia's tankobon updates are fast. I mean, just last year SnK released the first volume and now it's at its 8th. Honorable mentions to Mirai Nikki, Letter Bee and Deadman Wonderland, which were released last year as well and already reached their 9th volumes.

Fairy Tail started publishing at 2010 I believe, and it's already at the Edolas arc. Black Butler and Pandora Hearts are only one volume behind the Japanese releases.

Sometimes I go to the bookstore only to find one of the series has 2 volumes released in between my monthly visit. And that can stack up to 2-3 different series.

So yeah, 7 is actually quite little imo.
 
I only go monthly, myself... though for me the trip to my nearest bookstore is 70 minutes round trip by car, so I'm probably spending significantly more on trips to the bookstore just to get there than you are. I'd probably spend more if it were my only hobby, though.

And American publishers tend to power through a series that's behind by several volumes before slowing to an every 3 or 4 months release pace, usually pacing their print volumes to be between half a year and a year behind Japan's releases. A lot of this is simply because they would rather have steady, predictable income levels, and the other side is that they want to give their translators time to produce a quality translation.

The 4 biggest publishers release between 5 and 10 series a month. Well, aside from Viz, anyway, which seems to have a billion releases since it tends to get most of the series that appear in Jump.
 
While over here, it's... really confusing tbh. They're mostly translated by one publisher and other than the one for a few Shoujo Manga, I've never seen another publisher.

The schedules are ridiculously messy though. I've been waiting for D-Grayman's as well as Bakuman's Vol 6 for a year. It's funny, especially when I remember that Bakuman just ended around the beginning of 2012-2013 so there's supposed to be no reason for them to take a hiatus. :/

Still, games cost as much as 30 manga volumes here so it's actually a cheaper hobby than playing video games imo. :/

What do they cost in your local currency? Manga volumes cost anywhere between $8 and $13 per new single volume in the US, while video games sit between $40 and $60 new.

You should totally have gotten them. The GSC arc one I have was totally worth it.

Right now it's between 18500 IDR and 20000 IDR per new single volume in Indonesia. They used to cost 15000 IDR when I started buying manga.

Video games... are really scarce. My copies of X and Y costs 550000 IDR each. My brother has to save up about 200k IDR 'til 300k IDR to buy something that only costs $10 in Steam.

So yeah, manga's cheap compared to video games here.
 
When I buy manga, I try to buy in ¨bulk¨ as much as possible. There are normally sales at my bookstores that make it easier, if the series doesn't have an omnibus already out.

Based on the exchange rate, your manga is extremely cheap. What language are they in? 18500 IDR is just $1.58 USD. At those prices, I'd probably buy just as many volumes as you if not more, myself, haha. As it stands, you can't even get 2 candy bars in the US at the price your manga volumes cost there.

Even though you say the video games are scarce, 550000 IDR is about $46, and copies of X and Y debuted at about $40 brand new in the US. 200k IDR is a bit of a markup for something $10 on Steam, though, since 200k IDR is about $17 USD.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the omnibuses because they don't sort neatly with the other books, but I'd rather have an omnibus than no volume at all, so if they're the only form it's available in, I'll buy it.
 
The comic store where I bought my stuff had a manga section but they moved so I've got not way of getting comics and manga without scans. Atleast theres a bookstore that has a small manga rack that only has Bakuman and One Piece, last I checked it was One Piece volume 50 :(

The September issue of Shueisha's V Jump magazine is announcing on Saturday that a new Dragon Ball Z movie will open during the Golden Week string of holidays next spring. Dragon Ball manga creator Akira Toriyama is personally credited with the original concept, screenplay and character designs of the new movie "that the entire universe eagerly awaits!!"

Toriyama confirmed in the magazine that this new film, like last year's Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, will tell a new story. He had intended to have this story during his manga's original serialization. Although he did not plan on it, he is not only putting a lot of effort in drawing the art, but also "fussing over the smallest dialogue lines." He also promised more action scenes. He teased that the story is still secret, but will be "utterly funny."

To emphasize the effort he has put into this new film, Toriyama said that even his first manga editor praised him on the work he has done, even though this editor rarely ever does that. Toriyama is confident that fans will be able to thoroughly enjoy the movie. He is currently drawing up new character designs, and asked his fans to look forward to the movie.

If you really need to know, I normally buy about 20 volumes a month. And of course they're in Indonesian, because what kind of nutjob would sell something that's not in the local language? Unless they're imported of course.

True, but it still costs 5.5x the amount of pocket money I get in a week. I need to get a part-time later in college if I want to buy ORAS on its release date. :/

Well 100k IDR isn't enough for a $10 game after conversion, so yeah. 150k IDR might be enough though, but I'm not my brother. P:

Picked up Nobunaga Concerto. Was going through a Time-travel phase this summer. Picked up a ton of manga about this genre LOL.

So watching another Sengoku rance time travel anime isn't that bad.

I think in a few year's I'd learn more about the Japanese wars of unification than I'd like ROTFL.

It seems cheap CG animation is starting to get traction to anime studios. I'm not complaining really, animating through cel shades is expensive as hell so studios blow their budgets in action scenes.

"Wait, did Nobunaga end up conquering the land?" LOL

Even if it's so cheap because of where you live and the language they're in, I'm still kind of envious of you for that, haha. 20 volumes would easily run me $200 or more, and I don't normally have that kind of money available to throw around.
