Generally I only really have to make the decision in games that allow for romantic options.

Good examples which...ironically...I haven't actually played females in yet, are Fire Emblem Awakening, Persona 3 Portable (save for this one), Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc., so it usually comes up in one way or another.

Sadly, no, which is pretty much the only thing stopping me from choosing a female MC. Well, that and it wouldn't result in a child, so it's disadvantageous, anyway.

I always pick females when given the chance. I typically like their designs over males characters more. Always seem more memorable. Pokémon Crystal is actually the first game I ever did that in.

Also I want a Lucina Amiibo. Shulk is cool but I love Lucina so much. She's like. One of my favorite characters ever.

I knew I had to make a girl Robin when I realised, during character creation, that the female option is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.
My tactician is modest in size, redheaded, named Mei, has THE best voice, and ain't putting up with your shit.

I actually hadn't considered that aspect. You're right, now that I think about it.

Gaming-wise, Dishonored and Bioshock: Infinite both had the general aesthetic, but not steampunk per se.
