God yes, that's ridiculous. Mindless hatred or opposition of anything for no good reason. I may have a personal aversion to it but again, I have nothing really against it or anyone who does it. I wouldn't have a problem with someone drinking some wine or having a couple beers, chillin' on the sofa next to me, or what have you.

...Quote broke, but okay whatever.

Yeah that seems like a bit of a big thing, being peer-pressured into, well, a lot of things in general. It's a biiiit stupid.

Unfortunately, yes...Friends make you do stupid stuff. But I managed to cut the person who kept feeding me alcohol out of my life so at least I got that going for me, haha.

Peer pressure's just a part of functioning as a member of a group. Sometimes there's a price of admission but hey, you've got to decide whether it's worth paying or not.

Sorry didn't mean to ignore the current topic :P

Drinking I find; like sex and other drugs (that is quite possibly a book title) is overrated. Not that it's bad, or not worth experiencing to judge for yourself, but it is guilty as so many Call of Duty titles and Micheal Bay films are, of being overhyped due to being a societal and pop culture focal point. It's big because everyone does it, and everyone does it because everyone does it. Even if everyone didn't do it, there would still of course; be people who did it. And people who would in turn do it - because other people would still do it. (This statement does not apply to sex. We should all be having sex; without which of course our species would go extinct.)

In my opinion, if you're being pressured by your friends or whatever social group you're hanging out with to do something you...don't really want to do, then it isn't worth it to be hanging out with them.

But that's just my opinion so whatever mates.

Yeah, maybe these things (drinking, sex, drugs, etc) are a bit over-glorified in media and culture. Still, I always figured it was the point of music and art and drama to exaggerate the mundane.

"Peer pressure" does seem to have a strong negative connotation but it need not be so. Usually your friends aren't trying to ruin your life. I agree with you, though -- the ones that do pressure you into something unhealthy that you don't want to do aren't really worth your time.

Oh yeah, I agree with that wholeheartedly. ^^ Life gets boring y'know? :p All the reason for some people to drink, smoke, watch a movie that cost 1 million dollars per minute of screen time, (check the budget and run time) and all that. By all means, I'm not against drinking smoking or any of that. I just maintain that it is all, as you said - very over-glorified. Point and case, people who would hold that you can't have a party without booze. It's not lame if you choose to party and have a good time without drinking; in fact I think you're lame if you can't do so without drinking.

Not to say I don't love drinking. :P

My friends peer pressured me into breaking out of my shell and meeting new people even though I would have been more comfortable sitting on the couch playing MMOs. Terrible, truly. I should have just cut them out of my life.

Ironically, often booze is like the internet for social interactions; it removes inhibitions and allows us to interact with people in a more comfortable way, as long as you're not overdoing it. Unless you become one of those sad drunks...then maybe limit your drinking.

If you drink the right drinks it isn't! A lot of them the alcohol blends so well that you can't even tell it's alcohol.

I think whiskey and such is vile but I understand how people can have different tastes than me because that's...kind of how the world works. What is there not to understand?
But but but honey whiskey is god's milk. :(

Internet addiction is a real thing. Wake up, people!

Suckling whiskey out of a divine teat? A strange image.

Whiskey's more like piss in consistency.

Delicious godly piss.

These images of Morgan Freeman will never be unseen....

I can't do vodka after I drank half a gallon (yeah, it was in a big bottle. Vox vodka, 40 proof, look it up kids) in one night. The next 20 hours or so were hell enough to put me off it to this day. The repercussions ranged from spending the rest of the night between a bathtub and a toilet, waking up on the couch in the person I was staying with's house spooning an ex girlfriend, being hungover to an extreme degree which the severity of could be likened to six thousand choice banded Rampardos' using head smash on yanma, throwing up in front of a McDonalds as a family of 4 on the other side of a window made their children avert their eyes, still feeling drunk enough to pass out in the car ride to the train later that day, to feeling queasy the whole train ride back to Chicago. :I

Vodka is where it's at, it's truly tasteless when it's mixed with anything else.
This. A lot of things going on with my life now just make me want to take a bottle and mix it with cans of either cherry DP or vanilla coke, two fingers a can. Repeat until sufficiently fubar'd, and I can't use my motor skills all too well anyway :b

Urgh no. Vodka is disgustingggggg. Maybe I is it think that from a very bad night I had on a very significant amount of very cheap vodka a year and a half or so ago though, haha. Not been able to stomach the stuff since.

Rum is the only okay spirit now. 8)

Alcohol is rather bad imo in various ways. Abuse to others due to you being drunk and the awful taste of it.

I've been drunk many, many times and never abused people.

Basically if you get really sick off of a drink it's gonna put you off it, hahaha. I couldn't drink Long Island Iced Teas for a long time after I got sick last Fourth of July on them.

I'm not sure what people see in vodka. It tastes like pure alcohol, like the kind you'd use in a laboratory. Rum actually tastes like something other than just CH3CH2OH.

See, when I go to Las Vegas, I have myself some coconut rum + coca-cola. Delicious. :D

I don't drink otherwise. I find it hard to finish a beer after it starts getting warm and being drunk/buzzed doesn't really thrill me. I'm such an old fart. :(

Bit judgemental of me here but I kinda feel like people who have little drinking experience go straight to it for that very reason. Makes them think they're drinking strong stuff, you know? Plus it's generally cheaper than other spirits of the same strength.
