I'm seventeen, a girl. And i love pokemon SECRETLY.
lol.

Secrecy. My friends know I like it, and a few of them still like it themselves though they don't really play it. If I told other people in my year I liked it, they'd shun me till a went to uni.

God I miss the days when Pokémon was cool, now everyone is just obsessed with K/D ratios...

I'm 15 and I somewhat like Pokemon. Was a huge fan back then. But what's kind of funny is seeing a 5 year old kid asking to trade his Starly for a Pokemon to my 19 year old cousin. I`ll never forget that day lol.

I am 16 and im very open about it. Some people insult me for still playing it but im over 6 feet tall and im in the 200's for how much I weight, so i never really get messed with XD.

Yh I'm embarished to play pokemon, I play it at school I play it at home I play it every where, but just can't stand if some one asks me what I'm playing. I just wave my hands a say something stupid, like Woohohooohoo, then walk off. If half the people at my school found out I played pokemon I'de be shunned for the rest of my time there. Although I have some friends that play it aswell so...... Also I feel the pressure at my age (14) isthe worst of all many older people I know still play, including my brother(20).
Same if kids found out my populatety lvl witch is very high would go way down

I'm only 14, but liking Pokemon is deadly dangerous at my school. I can't tell anyone, or my reputation is forever ruined. Because of this, I have no one to play with, either.

Sigh...

Hey, same here LF D:
...can't let anyone know that I like it, or else I would be that guy who likes a kid's show

...and I don't even watch the show! :S

DON'T HAVE SKYPE OLOLOLOLOL
...lol, not even locked, just, erased xD

I was 18 when R/B came out.. so you guys can all do the math and figure out how old I am.

I'm not really "ashamed" about it.. I'm an RPG Strat nut. Games like Disgaea and such are some of my favorites.. and Pokemon is surprisingly close to what Disgaea is like in some cases. Granted, the bright colors and cute designs kind of lend itself to be a childs game, but if you go by that rule, that kind of means Mario and such is also kinda kiddie. But, I've never been one for FPS's or "mature games" mostly because I don't want to play a game thats like real life so much... I also happen to suck at em. FPS's mostly.

Im 14, pokéaddict!
No one at school knows I like pokemon to be honest except one of my friends who likes pokemon aswell. If anyone were to kind out... geez... i would be shunned for the rest of my life :\...
My mum knows I like pokemon I told my dad I dont like it no more and also my brothers (all around early twenties...) dont know... though they still say to be everytime they see me "Pikachu!" Which is annoying :\... Some people from my primary school told some people I played it in school and somtimes theres the odd mention in high school of "Oh, my, god Harvey, I remember in primary school when you loved pokeyman! You used to bring your gameboy advence SP in and trade cards!"... xD, though its just one of my friends (Evil little B*/%@) so dont worry...!
Eh, recent teen here just startin' highschool, so luckily no one knows about my addiction >.>
I keep it a complete secret, 'cept for my two close friends who also play it. I mean, if people knew, I'm sure my life would be over. Still, I think I might start being a bit more public about it with, like, my blue version or something so they might think "oh, he didn't go out and buy any of the new games, he just still has that old one from when he was a kid" or something.
...Of course, in reality I went out and bought soul silver first chance I got >.>

Guys, if you're in High School, then there isn't really such a dire need to hide your passion.
Nobody gives a darn, because most of them are to busy studying or partying.
There WILL always be SOMEBODY who will try to give you a hard time... just ignore them. If they want to give you a hard time over something so trivial, then they are NOT worth your time.

You only have ONE life. Just live and enjoy it! :3

I'm an oldie who actually REMEMBERS going to my cousin's house to play the latest Pokemon Blue. At the time the graphics were considered revolutionary and ground-breaking and training my Squirtle Waterema (that's my nickname) took forever because there was no Internet guides back then....! I had to speed up walking by pressing spacebar. No VBA game emulator.

Pokegods, Pikablu and Mew rumours were abundant and the mysterious Truck with HM Strength. Missingno and LM4 gameshark codes were common back then. Aaah, for innocent times...

Hate to break it to ya, but Sega already had a full-color portable device LONG before Nintendo's GBC. points to the Sega GameGear

This is crazy to read. I remember having to buy the cables to link up my Gameboy with my friend's so we could trade our pokemon to evolve them and such. It's crazy to think that was 10 years ago. I'm really amazed with how far this has come, with WiFi being taken advantage of so you can trade and battle with people all over the world.

I left the Pokemon fandom early on, around the time G/S/C came out. I got back into it just a few months ago when I downloaded the Diamond version. I was seriously blown away with how different the games are today, I got my copy of SS the day it came out. I think the games are more fun today than they were 10 years ago.

I'm not too embarrassed, though. I wear my Pokewalker to work. If anyone gives me crap for it, I just crack jokes. It's fun to go over to my friend's house though. Her and her boyfriend are still into it, despite being 20-21.

I think it's kind of weird to come onto this forum and see 12 year olds posting about Pokemon. That's when I feel a little stupid for playing the games, lol.

They already did something similar to the Wi-Fi/GTS thing back in the G/S/C days... well, in JAPAN, at least.

It somehow involved hooking up the game to your cell phone and you could trade, mix records, and communicate with other players across Japan!

I think. (I dunno, I don't live in Japan, and even if I did, I wouldn't even remember it. XD)

I like me an occasional shootout once in a while (I played Doom when I was 3. xP)

But eh, I always return to Pokemon and Sonic at the end of the day. XD

I'm 21 and I've been playing Pokémon since I was... what... 9 or 10? I forget exactly when I got into it.

But yeah, a really long time. It's been a part of my daily life for over half my life. I'm not even exaggerating! I may not play it everyday, but back by the time my interest in the games/anime was waning slightly, I'd joined Pokémon forums and got attached to the people in the fandom. I'd modded several and worked my way up here at PC so I was obligated to visit everyday. You can't forget that Pokémon exists when you visit a Pokémon forum everyday. And for the half a year where my interest in even PC waned? Hello, Pokémon Diamond and Cherrim and my introduction to collecting Pokémon merchandise. ♥ And now I'm back full force at PC and into the games and everything. Literally not a day has gone by in over 10 years where I have not thought about Pokémon in some capacity.

It's a little sad when I put it that way but I'm not ashamed of it. I take great pride in my interests and it's actually pretty interesting to see that something I liked when I was a kid still has the ability to maintain my interest even as an adult. :/ I always expected myself to grow out of the Pokémon phase but instead, it's grown and evolved with me. The way I was interested in it has changed and the parts that interest me have also changed.

Yeah, Pokémon is childish. I don't think anyone can deny that (though I have seen people vehemently try!). Does that mean I should be looked down upon for liking it? Nah. I'm proud of what I like. It's a hobby and an interest and it helps to define me, but it's not entirely who I am and I shouldn't be judged for it so I don't expect people to.

Okay...now that I'm officially 23, I can still safely say that Pokemon is one of my #1 gaming addictions. I think I can blame it on the fact that I'm an immature kid at heart. XD

Do the math and you'll find that I was eleven when Red/Blue came out in America, so I was on the higher end of the target demographic even back then, so it doesn't seem as weird. As long as I can come to a place like PC regularly and act as an archetypal "older and wiser" mentor to the younger generation that unfortunately never got to play RBY or GSC, I can still feel like something has come out of this obsession. XD

I'm 13 so I guess I'm one of the "Young whippersnappers" in this place. I don't fell embarrassed to play pkmn games, even though everyone mocks me... I don't wear a poke-walker, because I don't have hg/ss for ds ( I emulated them on no$gba. I'm so cheap. XD) so I don't have people notice that I a huge-mega poke fan.

I'm seventeen. My cousin is twenty. We've both been fans of pokémon since the beginning.
Never feel bad about still liking something you've been a fan for so long. Anyway who bashes you for it is immature, but they'll likely grow out of that (unfortunately, where I live, its starting to take longer with the current generation. My cousin probably had the last line of easy people, lol).

My best best friends know I play pokemon, because they play as well, I never took my DS to school and I never talk about it. I'd rather play soccer or just take a walk outside during the breaks. I still play pokemon regullarly though.

I really don't think age applies to Pokemon scene anymore. I know 30 year old men who still play. O_o

I mean, look at the new Black and White games, these new protagonists are suppose to be older then any others we have seen. This could be Game Freak expanding age in Pokemon. Age isn't really something to be afraid of anymore.

Lol, if you're a tween then the Pokemon franchise is older than you X3

Anyway, I don't see what the big deal is with playing Pokemon as an adult. Like I said, the franchise has gotten old enough now that the original audience members are at least in or around their 20s.

There's nothing wrong with continuing to play old favorites or keeping up with a game series you loved since childhood. Plenty of franchises are old now, but unlike many others, older Pokemon fans seem to develop a reluctance to be as open about it. I don't really understand it, especially since many other childhood interests are considered 'classic' rather than 'childish'. So far I haven't run into people that look down on others just 'cause they still like Pokemon :/

Edit: Lol @ bobandbill's link on page 1 X3

I'm 15, and me and one of my friends from school still love Pokemon. I just watched Pokemon Heroes today, believe it or not ^^'
Me and my friend got SoulSilver together too. We talk about Pokemon all the time through text (but not in school. No one in my school knows that we like it).
The cute guy who sits behind me in my Theology class was actually showing off his copy of Gold in his SP to me and my Poke-loving friend one day as we silently freaked out. A sophomore at my school wears a Pokemon belt sometimes and two seniors always wore their Pokewalkers to school. I'm sure there are more players in my school who won't admit they like it.
I'm probably the biggest Pokemon freak at my school, but I don't exactly go around telling people.

I am not ashamed to tell people that I am 14 and like Pokemon.
