The Penny Arcade Expo, or PAX for short, is one of the year's biggest highlights when it comes to video gaming. In short, it is a time in which developers and gamers from across the globe are able to meet in one central area - well, technically four - and showcase new games as well as just sharing their overall love for video gaming. Each year, Penny Arcade hosts four PAX's: PAX East in Boston, PAX Prime and Dev in Seattle, and PAX Aus in Melbourne, Australia. Overall, it is an amazing experience that one should experience at one point in time in their lives if they are an avid lover of video games.

Why hello Prince from Katamari Damacy
I've personally been lucky enough to go to two PAX Easts: this year's one (that just wrapped up yesterday) and last year's event. I had always been a big fan when it came to following the news that trickled out of PAX, and it only occurred to me last year that because I went to school in Boston that I could literally just walk over to the convention center when the event was happening. Any boy may I just say, it is one hell of a fun time. Right when you walk in you are greeted by cosplayers, developers, and gamers galore and going down the stairs you are awestrucken by the view (see the picture above for last year's PAX view.) It actually is really overwhelming, as there is so much to do and see and so little time to do it all in.

But just overall, my PAX experiences have been absolutely perfect. I love how when I was just waiting in line for booths everyone was having their DS's out and battling each other, it really created this sense of a community. You meet a lot of interesting people there and I love just hearing about their gaming backgrounds and just share in the overwhelming charismatic atmosphere that floats around the place. Even if you can't ever make it to a PAX, I definitely recommend going to something similar. It really does open your eyes to what games are out there, but also it's just a great way to make a lot of new friends.
