    Why isn't blue viewed as a male-specific colour and pink is viewed as a female-specific one, guys?

    Just a random thought ^________^ Feel free to discuss why it isn't, since PC demonstrates this!

    I don't know. It's a curious thing really. I know that in this modern culture, especially among our generation, we're trying to shake off that meaning of those colors by telling guys it's cool to wear pink.

    But yeah, it's probably something arbitrary someone came up with long ago and it just....stuck.

    I really don't know why or how that changed in the 1900s, but it was essentially the opposite in 1900. Especially when it came to infants. XD;
    This.

    It's actually quite fascinating, really.

    When colors were first introduced to the nursery in the early part of the 20th century, pink was considered the more masculine hue, a pastel version of red. Blue, with its intimations of the Virgin Mary, constancy and faithfulness, was thought to be dainty.
    However, during Hitler's regime, Pink was associated with Homosexuality [via the Pink Triangles that the Homosexuals had to wear] . . and yeah. It kind of flipped XD;

    And, ever since, it's kind of been associated with femininity. And, guys, for the most part, are insecure about their masculinity so . . they're going to lean toward more masculine colors. Children are instilled with certain things from childhood like blue being for boys and pink being for girls; similarly, children are taught like green means go, and red means stop. So, children, being the sponges that they are, absorb this information and apply it to their everyday lives.

    Truly, it's tragic that colors are associated with such things, but some people are just too stubborn and/or insecure to appreciate a color for what it is at facevalue: a color. :)

    Shouldn't we be trying to change the beliefs that are presented to children, such as not necessarily having a gender specific colour when it comes to children's toys, clothing, etc.

    Well, I'm sure it's easier said than done nowadays.
    But, then again, people are becoming more tolerant of colors and whatnot with guys wearing pink and not being homosexual or whatever. :)

    I think PC should start this initiative, personally.

    I love the colour pink, really. Don't see how anyone couldn't. It's nice and bright.

    I hate the idea of pre-set colours for genders.
    We will always be around it.
    Even at childbirth, the relevant gender is wrapped up in a pink or blue towel, depending on gender.

    BREAK THE MOULD PEOPLE!

    I agree. We should break the mold by changing our username color to pink. :3

    (Oh and tell all the n00bs who say NOOEZ IT'S A GIRLY COLOR to STFU & GTFO)

    Yay! Someone agrees. :D

    But seriously, there's nothing wrong with pink. Though I will admit that the blue fits my theme so it's just all there. :P

    Can't you just say that to them anyway?

    Maybe if the color were changed, we wouldn't be confused for mods so much. Dx

    we'd be confused for admins instead

    Happened to me just the other day! XD

    But if we got changed to pink it wouldn't bother me... I love pink (Jeffree Star)

    What about Yellow, huh? That's a good color. Better than your gender|chopping Blue/Pink >_< In fact, supporters should get yellow and let the Super mods get stuck with pink.

    What the heck, are we voting on changing our username colors again? XD

    If we are, I want orange. o3o

    Close to orange. Then we'd have to stick another color to the Super Mods. I suggest Pink... :)
