In Pokémon X and Y, we've seen the debut of a new feature known as player customization, which allows us to personalize our characters way we'd like and make them our own. Some of us were hoping to see such a feature make its way into this series, and for those who did, it was a dream come true.

So, when they'd first announced customization, what was your initial reaction--excited, or not-so-excited? If it's latter, then why is that? What are your overall thoughts on this particular feature? If it were up to you, is there anything you would personally change, and if so, what would it be? Have you gotten yourself all clothes and accessories thus far?

    Let's discuss!

The mirror in the trailer gave it away for me. I was very happy and it's sad to say that as a guy, I spent a little too much time dressing up my trainer lol. I wish there was more variety to the guy clothing though. Female trainers had more to choose from. It'll be nice if they bring it back in future games, but if the feature only sticks with Kalos, I wouldn't mind.

I did make it into the Lumiose Store but didn't buy everything cause it's overpriced. I did get that Pangoro hat though. :D

Obviously I jumped. Being able to customize my character means that it's no longer the generic look that I'll see in battles. Although, I'm disappointed that hats aren't removable. :<

Character customization was something I wanted in Pokemon for years and kept hoping that they'd one day implement it. And then they did and I was really excited about it. Character customization is almost always a plus for me in video games. It's nice to have the option to change your look; sometimes I get bored of lookin' at the same outfit day in and day out, or while the default look is fine, there's a look I like better.

And then I was a little pissed when it was confirmed that they don't have customization in ORAS. I could go into a mini-rant about that but no one wants to hear that.

This was a pretty fun feature, especially while playing as the girl. I always liked making her look as colorful as possible. While the guy didn't have as many options it was still worthwhile, this is a nice jump for the series and I do hope it comes back in a future generation, even if we're not getting it for ORAS.

I was extremely glad when they'd finally announced it, as I was one of those people who wanted to see such a feature make its way into Pokémon series. We all change clothes and whatnot in real life, so if they're intending to make these games seem more realistic, I feel that this helps a ton. Not sure why they were this late at introducing it, but better late than never, I suppose!

Personally, I've been enjoying character customization a lot, and usually find myself spending a lot of time under it, trying to perfect my player. I change clothes around once every week or two; helps freshen things up.

I remember after I first beat the E4, I ran around to every boutique daily and bought everything new the had available. Seemed like a good idea... until I had too many clothes to wear. Almost a year later and I'm still cycling through all of them.

I didn't use the feature a lot compared to most other players (probably because Serena's default look is really beautiful anyway, and she does look a lot like me) but I did play around with the feature a fair bit, and I did get all the female clothing on my current X playthrough. As a certain Wedlocker friend of mine said, the female trainer is very fun to play around with the customization due to the amazing stuff she gets compared to the male.

I don't mind that it's been left out of OR/AS, but I hope it can return in future non-remake games.

One thing I wish they should have done is allow us access to more clothes and accessories.

I understand that they might require more space in-cartridge and whatnot, but they don't necessarily have to go with their usual method; if they wish, they could have published additional sets of clothing in their eShop as downloadable content, which would all save into your memory card. More outfits we have available, the better our creativity will be, I feel, haha.

I have a question. How do i get more things to wear? I have not played to much yet thou but I am close to getting my 2nd badge.

I didn't know this was being left out in OR/AS D:!!!!

    Oh noez.

Anyway, it's a lovely feature which I hope will stay.

There's boutiques found in certain cities in Kalos, to be specific: Santalune City, Lumiose City, Cyllage City, Laverre City, Anistar City and Snowbelle City. The Santalune boutique only has hats/hat accessories though, while Lumiose's one has the insanely expensive clothing and the requirement to be "stylish".
